Me changing my nationality after hearing SA national anthem: 🇧🇷 - 🇿🇦. What a powerful anthem! I cried so many times hearing it and I can sing it by heart. My dream is to learn Afrikaans and Xhosa. Greetings from a Brazilian living in Germany.
same here 🇧🇷, I’d love to visit South Africa one day, especially Cape Town, such a beautiful and unique place, greetings from Brazil my african brothers.
Emmanuel Bacud Nkosi Sikeleli' iAfrika is a prayer especially the first two parts that are sung in Xhosa, Zulu and Sotho. The anthem consists of five languages. Don't know what nationality you are, but I recommend you go and read the meaning of the anthem/prayer. It is really a beautiful anthem and it showcases the beautiful rainbow nation that we are.
It’s a contestant for that title with Het Wilhelmus, La Marseilles, Havtikvah, God Defend New Zealand, and O Canada. I don’t include my own country since that’d be biased.
Ireland's Call always makes me snap to attention. I have family from your beautiful Republic on my Grandma's side of the family. ERIN GO BRAGH/IRELAND FOREVER.
Thats not the republics anthem. The rugby team represents the republic and northern ireland. So rugby players from NI who are usually loyal to the UK object to standing for the real irish anthem Amhran Na bhfian. So they commissioned a songwriter to write an neutral song. When ireland play in dublin both are played because dublin is the capital of ireland, but away only this song is played
This is an athem for the Irish rugby team, because Northern Irish (part of the UK) players play for Irish rugby, and most of them do not sing "Amhràn na bhFiann". They made this song to represent both countries. Hope that answer your question
No, the anthem for Northern Ireland is 'God Save the Queen/King'. 'Ireland's Call' should indeed be identified as the team anthem when used by the various Irish representative teams. The issue that I have with the non-use of the Irish national anthem is that it serves to strengthen the sense of a divide between the peoples of Ireland. I feel the Irish anthem should be played because it is the NATIONAL team of Ireland that contains players drawn from the North and not the other way around. The present situation actually serves to undermine the notion of Ireland as a whole.
Bring Back Jim Crow Laws Lol how old are you? Like seriously....if you're under the age of 16 then your childish and weak behaviour is sort of understandeble...but if you're older than 16...oh boyXD....then I feel truly sorry for you....a grown man commenting such a load of BS online that he'll never have the balls to say in public....I can't begin to imagine what a sad, pathetic, waste of oxygen and liability to society you must be lmao But anyway...nice talking to you....bye bud;)
Lol it's the sporting anthem so the unionists don't get offended when Amhran na Bhfiann (the actual Irish anthem) as Ireland plays under the republic and northern Ireland, but yes Ireland's call is nice indeed.
I'm a new Zealander and I have to admit South African national anthem is the best in the world We maybe old rugby does on the rugby field but I reckon if we ever needed help S.A & Australia would always have back's
Why there's an issue with Ireland's Call? Shouldn't it be seen as a good thing bringing some massage of union and sportsmanship or something like that? I'm rlly asking here, not being ironic
I think the main grievance is the fact that it is almost always announced as the Irish national anthem. It isn't. It is a song commissioned by the Irish Rugby Football Union. It is the team anthem. By presenting it as the national anthem, it has had the very real effect that other sporting bodies such as rugby league have adopted this song as their anthem of choice. It is as if the nationalism of Ireland as a separate and individual entity on the international stage is being belittled and undermined by internal forces with historical links to the union with Britain. For many, it is a deeply troubling situation.
This is Ireland’s call not a soldiers song it is meant to be for rugby the team is Ireland and Northern Ireland combined and a soldier’s song is just the republic
Wow Richard please learn how to pronounce the words of the Anthem correctly. You cant just throw random letters out of every word as you sing??? It maes thins ver confusin an har to unerstand
Not the Irish anthem. Ireland's rugby team includes the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is UK and the IRA hijacked the Irish anthem and flag in Northern Ireland so many Unionists (loyal to the UK) are offended by the real Irish anthem and flag, and Irish people would be offended by the UK flag and the UK anthem, so a neutral rugby flag and neutral song were both made to suit everyone and that song is Ireland's call.
Doesnt matter its not our national anthem anyway its just the rugby song. Some of the players are from northern irelandin the UK and won't stand for the irish national anthem except in dublin ,but not outside the republic of ireland. So they wrote this pile of crap to keep them happy
Crowds in rugby are way more civilized and respectful than in football.

THE LEGEND 27 It's the sport anthem of Ireland and Northern Ireland

In that train of thought, God Save the Queen should also be sung as well as The Soldier's Song/Amhrán na bhFiann, surely?
Possibly. I personally wouldn't be opposed to it. One must bear in mind though that rugby union in Ireland predates the separation of Ireland.
THE LEGEND 27 Maybe its easier for them to sing than the orignal anthem Irish.
