- Overview of my recent build of the Tamiya G601 Konghead.
I apologize as I mixed up (savox) and (spektrum) several times during the description of electronics. You guys surely knew what I meant ;)
Kit was assembled with many of the Tamiya listed hop-up parts, along with a 3500kv esc/motor combo and lights and engine noise. A very fun build start to finish (minus taping the body for paint). I put a lot of time into the kit to include the four wheel steer dual servos and LED lighting. This is a very fun kit that Tamiya has put out on the market, relatively easy build with lots of options to improve and modify.
Great video. As a fellow Tamiya fan reliving his youth I appreciate the virtues of actually building from a kit also.
geniusanthony I hate how (so much) is the hobby has moved to ready to run. Building these kits led me to so many more skills. Use of tools soldering electric etc... I love a good Tamiya Build!

The upgrades must of cost a lot more than the kit but very nice. Looking forward to the run but we are all waiting for better weather.
You are not kidding! This was a well planned in advance build. When i saw the kit release, I really planned and put some cash away to do it the way I wanted to do it. You should watch my GF01 video, did the same thing. I am also in my 40s with no kids :-)

Question on the Noise / Sound device -> looked it up and it indicates it needs to pull power from the battery or have a power source. How did you solve for this and what parts did you use? Asking as I have a box standard ESC with one Tamiya battery connector only.
You just solder a extra lead positive and negative to the battery connector. It will pull from the battery and not effect the esc or performance.

Any way to get a parts listing of the upgrades you did here? I am looking to add in some of the items you used and it would be helpful to have product listings for the Servo, Lights, Engine Noise, etc.

@@KMJ187 Thanks so much for the fast response. So how many of the 54661 and 54610 parts did you order? One has a 5 indicator and the other has a 9 indicator above their images. Before I order 5 and 9 of them, want to make sure they are the right QTY. These are not cheap parts, coming from China. NOTE: I would be able to answer this myself if I had the kit, but it has not arrived yet.

great truck everything looks and sounds HEFTY, HEFTY, HEFTY except the horn, it sounds wimpy, wimpy, wimpy!!!!
