    The last minute of this game was so unusual - rare that you see a final minute sequence without the endless fouls and stoppages - the last 51 seconds actually took about 51 seconds in real time.

      Bro I’m still coming here and every other great year just to remember how great things used to be. I appreciate Cal for what he has done but I’m thinking it’s run it course. If they come out next year like they have the last 2 he will be done in my opinion. I gave up on this season. They beat Tennessee again but they just play uninspired basketball. So again I’m not going to pull out the pitch fork just yet but man with all the talent coming in and will definitely have ppl back they better not suck.

      @@stevetackett581 honestly I feel really good and I know it's a but of a gamble if he can recruit or not. As a Kentucky fan I almost feel like we sold our soul when we hired Cal to win One title. We had no heart and the guys we got most of them didn't care about the name on the chest, they cared because Cal would do everything in his power to get them drafted. It may not work with Pope. But I know Pope will build rosters that doesn't start from scratch every year and it really did feel like we finally got our heart back our soul back. As I said I'm thankful for what Cal did for us but the jersey might as well said Calipari on the front because that's how it seemed eventually under Cal. Also the fact that Cal never made in game adjustments and never would call or draw up plays and never tried anything new on defense and had this throw it in and let them play which lost us so many games. Sorry about the book but I'm great with Pope because he brings back what me didn't have with Cal which is tradition and heart. He is one of our own and he knows the good and the bad and the ugly with this program and having a coach that will actually coach them and with the offense he runs if he can recruit which with the money they have Kentucc c z c xky will be OK. So in short lol I love the hire.

    so I live in Louisville and I'm a cats fan and I was still in elementary school at the time when this game was gonna happen. I remember riding home on the bus, everyone was rooting for the cards, I remember there only being 2 cats fans and me. it felt a little intimidating to say the least, but the next day after this game I've never heard a bus be so quiet, and me those other 2 cats fans on were cheering on man. good times man.

    I overwhelmingly agree. The Duke vs UNC rivalry is ESPN hype. I dont care what anyone says, the Kentucky vs Louisville rivalry is the best and most bitter rivalry in the history of college basketball. Can you imagine December? The past 2 national champions, both will be ranked in the top 5, I CANT WAIT. One of us is going to win the title again. KENTUCKY the state IS college basketball, not UNC. Good luck to you all again this year and congrats on the title

      In hindsight however, this Kentucky wasn’t as talented as we thought in the moment. Davis was the only star. MKG has been able to stick in the league as a role player. Miller and jones have been in and out. But the other guys are all playing overseas.
      There have been dozens of teams more talented top to bottom since that haven’t sniffed a championship. Better job by Cal winning this one than many are willing to give credit for

    This is coming from a Tennessee born and raised Vol fan that lives in Louisville, this UK team was one of the best teams i have ever seen, along with 1990 UNLV, 1992 Duke, 1995 UCLA, 1996 Kentucky, 1999 UConn, 2006-07 Florida. These guys lost to one team at the buzzer and another team they beat twice in the regular season, avenging one loss while the other team didn't make it, plus they remained #1 after both losses. UK fans better soak it in as long as they can, because word is, after Phil Jackson accepts the New York Knicks deal, John Calipari is his first choice.

      Being a born and raised UK Wildcat fan, I'm a mortal enemy of Indian by birth. But I would also be remiss not to mention how great the 1975 and 1976 Indian Hoosiers teams were. They only lost 1 time in 2 seasons, and that was to Kentucky in the 1975 Regional Final with a trip to the Final 4 on the line. A loss that likely would not have happened had Indiana's all-american forward Scott May not have broken his arm and went down for the season. That same Indian team had hammered Kentucky earlier in the season at Assembly Hall in Bloomington. They came back in 1976, went unbeaten, and won the National Championship.

      Roger Edgerton yeah cuz he was surrounded by shooters. he was a freshman And named player of the year and mvp of the tournament. he was a fifth leading score on the team cuz he was a big man that could pass, And he was a hell of a jump shooter considering he grew like 18 inches from age 16-18. I understand your point but he didn’t have to utilize all of his talent because he had four other superstars on the court with him

    • @nateman79
      @nateman79 4 роки тому

      kyleelvis3577 I despise the one and done. It worked in 2012 because Anthony Davis was a once in a generation player and we had a senior with Darius Miller and Doron lamb and Terrance Jones back as sophomores... oh another once in a generation Kidd-Gilchrist. The one and done process will never work out that well again. The year we lost to Wisconsin in the final four while undefeated was a fluke and we could’ve very easily had 4 or 5 losses that year. That actually would’ve done some good because that team looked so stiff in the tournament I’m surprised they didn’t lose in the second round

      Coach Cal always does a great job. It’s just difficult in this modern age to get young players to play as a team. They want to be the star & say “me me me.” As a UK fan I’m getting tired of these new players every year using the school name for the NBA. It’s frustrating. This 2012 team actually had 3 returning starters from the previous year, one of them a senior.
      This 2012 team wanted to be a TEAM over individual stars, & they followed coach Cal. One of the Best all around teams in 50 years. The 2015 KY was the best team in history from the 1 to the 10 spot. Unfortunately shot clock violations didn’t count that post season.

    Historically, John Calipari's best NCAA tournament region has been the South Region (Memphis made it to the championship before falling to Kansas in 2008, Kentucky winning the title in 2012). The South Region was also where Kentucky (coached by Tubby Smith), as a #2 seed came out of to win the 1998 title.

    I dont think you have more talent. Our talent is unreal. You DEF have more talent than every other school. What you all have is talent mixed with depth. The problem is you still dont have any outside shooters. But the way you all play D, you may not need it. You all will be able to trap more out of the press this year which will make you all very tough. Look I am just messing with you. On the real, our game is going to be EPIC. Duke being a 2 seed and losing to 15 seed Lehigh is so pathetic that no loss UNC has EVER suffered is even CLOSE to being as humiliating as Duke losing to them. I was at the Miami game. We were down 18 in the first half. It was Walls first game and he went coast to coast to hit the game winner at the buzzer. Any Calipari team usually struggles early in the year with all the youth. Granted we dont lose hardly any, but they are always closer than they should.

UK actually beat them in the elite 8 that year as well. But in 2012 we had 3 new freshman starters playing in just their 7th game together and we beat them ANYWAYS. They hit their highest % from 3 of the entire year against us while we shot our second WORST % from 3 and we STILL WON. How on earth could they beat us when we were clicking...

I'm really curious to hear their excuses when UK soundly beats them this year and they're program doesn't get half the attention that it got last year.

    CARDS GOIN ALL THE WAY IN MARCH.. BTW Im here as a Cards fan just watching how good we looked last year in march and to see how much we have already improved.. Looking to see different plays.. etc. So UK fanboys watching this video living in the past because your current team is slacking, dont be so quick to troll. We all know where the best All around athletics program is in KY. Its In Louisville KY.. UK might as well setttle down a bit. This louisville team and pitino are about to show you.

    As a UK fan, gotta say that Russ and Siva were unbelievable in college. I live in the Louisville area and they are still super involved, love to see stuff like that

      Siva had hops too, they were just too small, if he was like 6'4/6'5 he would have made it in the nba forsure.

    You take the best player off of any team and it will hurt them. Our offense and defense was in the top 10 that year and 6 players averaged double figures. Unselfish, talented, and chemistry won the title. It does not matter anyways because we DID have Davis.

    Yeah but you still had them is my point. People are acting like Louisville was a team full of nobodies that had less talent than most teams which is NOT true. Louisville was stacked with talent and experience. We always rely on talent but people act like we have 25 year old NBA veterans on our team when we really have RAW 18 year old talent.

    What's ironic about that? Kentucky won the title and then lost 6 players. UL returned most of their team. It's not like it was the same teams returning the next year.

    Come to think of it, John Calipari needed to establish himself, which by becoming the coach of Kentucky, he just steadily escalated himself, with the third time being the charm. Now that John has his first title, Kentucky this year will probably go the direction of Kansas and Memphis in 2009 or Duke in 2011, in that those defending champions were upset targets in the Sweet 16 to other teams (Michigan St, Missouri, Arizona) trying to regain some attention.

    If you're not educated, don't comment. Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist are coming back to Kentucky in the summer to finish their degrees. Just because they make more money in a week than you do in a year doesn't give you the right to hate on them.

    No, the term BCS school means a school in one of the big 6 conferences. SEC, ACC, Big East, Big 10, Big 12, and Pac 10. All other schools are known as non bcs schools. And yes, me and you have even agreed on this before, that Duke vs UNC is NOTHING compared to our great rivalry. Last 2 titles and the top 2 teams next year. One of us will win a title. No matter what I say about Louisville, I respect the hell out of them and know they have a historically great basketball program. NO question

  • @26michaeluk
    @26michaeluk 12 років тому

    Wow congrats. We lost our top 6 players. I would hope you would be ranked higher when you return everyone. You just showed the difference in mentalities between Louisville and UK. Louisville cares about where it ranks at the start of the season, UK cares about the end and will again finish ahead of Louisville. I guess I would care about preseason rankings too if my team had not won a title since the Reagan administration.

  • @26michaeluk
    @26michaeluk 12 років тому

    Why, where I said L-ville fans can we come together this once? I meant as rival fans lol I dont flat out hate Louisville like a LOT of UK fans do though. I will never forget Gardner Webb beating us in Rupp arena with Billy G. as our coach. Humiliating. The maui tourny is STACKED again this year. Gonna be some amazing games as usual.

  • @DanielRRoof
    @DanielRRoof 12 років тому

    I guess I do have to spell it out.. We just played in BCS Bowl last night.. We won. WE also have more SEC wins than Auburn, UK, Tenn. COmbined this year.. We are also returning nearly all of these players for at least 1 more year possibly 2 if they dont go pro.. THATS JUST FOOTBALL..
    And if you watch Louisville basketball, you would understand we are young, outside of 3 players.. 1 senior (Siva) 2 JUNIORS (Smith/Dieng)..
    Not to mention basball/soccer. etc.. UK only has mediocre basketball.

  • @251to502

    Clark Kellogg will not be co-anchoring the game at Rupp on 12/28, the question now is who will be covering it alongside Greg Anthony?
    2009 - Kevin 'HE KNOCKS IN THE TRIPLE' Harlan
    2009 - Verne Lundquist
    2010 - Gus Johnson
    2011 - Ian Eagle
    2012 - Tim Brando
    2013 - Hopefully not Jim Nantz

    I'm honestly excited this year for football as well. Kentucky has a new coach and has a top 25 recruiting class in football for the first time in God knows how long and Louisville is returning some big players from their Sugar Bowl Championship team, although I'm a UK fan I have to give the edge to Louisville in that just because of experience but I think that it could be a very exciting game

    Yeah, and Florida did not make the NCAA tournament in '08 and '09. Kentucky almost became the first team since Florida in the 2000s to win two consecutive titles (came close in 2011 as a #4 seed, and would've been the first team since #4 Arizona in 1997)

  • @26michaeluk
    @26michaeluk 12 років тому

    I am ALL CATS but I agree. Even leaving IU out, UK vs Louisville is THE rivalry of college basketball. Here is why. Our teams hate each other, our fans hate each other, our COACHES hate each other. We only play 1 time a year so we only get 1 crack at each other. We BOTH just came off of a final four and BOTH will be preseason top 5. UNC vs DUKE is ESPN hype. The coaches like each other, whats up with that lol They play 2 and 3 times a year so ONE game does not really matter.

  • @251to502
    @251to502 12 років тому +2

    Strange as it seems, but Louisville's run to the Final Four this season sort of mirrors Kentucky's run in 2011, in that they both were #4 seeds (UK in the East Region - 2011, UL in the West Region this past season), they didn't finish as the top team in their conference (FL was 13-3 in 2011, Syracuse was 17-1 this year), but won the conference tournament, and each knocked off a #1 seed (Ohio State, Michigan State) in the Sweet 16 by playing fierce defense.

  • @26michaeluk
    @26michaeluk 11 років тому

    Honestly, I had no problem wit Louisville winning the title. They deserved one and were the best team last year without a doubt. Its better to keep it in state than have it end up in North Carolina or some shit. Yeah the BCS is a football thing but when they talk about the power conferences they use the term non bcs or as others call them, mid majors. Yeah WSU had you guys on the ropes for a minute. I knew you all would come back to win and knew you all would not leave empty handed.

    If Kansas is not careful, they will have a target on their back in the Sweet 16 just like when they had a huge lead on Michigan St, then lost because of clutch plays by Goran Suton and Kalin Lucas.

  • @MrUKFORLIFE
    @MrUKFORLIFE 12 років тому

    Yeah, you make a good point. That's why the NCAAT is one of the most difficult tournaments to win in any sport...if you have a bad shooting day/night or if a team just shoots lights out then you'll probably lose. Most of the time, the best overall team doesn't win it all, that's why I'm thankful for the Championship UK just won as I'm sure you are for KU's Championship in 2008.

  • @uk1324
    @uk1324 11 років тому

    The main reason I'm ready for this season to get started is because I'm tired of UL fans acting as though they're the superior program just because you guys were better than us for one year. Sorry, but if you want to be considered a top notch program, winning your 3rd NCAA championship and breaking a losing streak to UK doesn't make you the end all be all. Yeah, you finally won another title. Now you have to shut up and defend it.

    Incorrect. You would have a valid point but for the Final Four run in 2011 in which veteran players previously second / third tier improved over the course of the year and peaked at the right time, including knocking off the #1 seed overall in Ohio State to get there. That was coaching.

    Russ certainly will be POY candidate. So will Julius Randle. I will continue to psych myself up over those freshmen. Doing so worked well for 3 out of 4 years under Cal, and it brought us 4 wins in 5 games against the little brother school. Please, continue to watch the video at the top. As for UK, i see them getting no higher than a #5 seed, assuming they happen to sweep Florida and beat Missouri at home. Reasonably, a #8 seed would probably be their peak, and they could be in the bracket of the team that beat them in the 1993 Final Four (Michigan).

  • @26michaeluk

    They had their PG Marshal that game. He got hurt in the tournament. Yeah but we still won is my point. How could you say they were better when that UNC team returned EVERYONE from a elite 8 team, while UK had 3 freshman starters playing in only their 7th game and still could not beat us. We were MUCH MUCH better by the end of the season so that UNC team could not beat us then so there is no way they could have at the end.
