    Heated blankets typically use a PWM controller that cycles the power on/off at a variable frequency based on your temp setting. It probably also has a pre-programmed warm up mode or could potentially have a thermostat plugged in. It looks like it was working as expected and kept you warm all night!

    Nice setup... especially those Morimoto tail lights!

    All of the portable battery banks have a 10A lighter plug, and the diesel heaters require 15A of power to operate the glow plug relay, so they pop the fuse/breaker in the power banks under surge.
    Electric blankets do have a thermostatic control to regulate the temp.
    Personally, I HATE light roast coffee. Light roast has more acidity and bitter taste. Properly roasted dark coffee has less acidity, is less bitter and smoother to drink. The beans HAVE to be very slow roasted to dark for the coffee to be of a quality grade.

      wait what? diesel heaters require 15a and battery packs are 10a??? How is anyone using these diesel heaters then? Surely the % running off hardwired power can't that high. Plus I'm guessing car power setups can vary and maybe not all offer the required 15a....
      I have so much to learn?

    I’m sorry but you didn’t do the company who sponsored you any favors by not doing an accurate test with products that work properly (ie your heated blanket not functioning). You should remake this test and give the companies product a fair shake and put it through the paces.

      I'll do more testing but I am getting tired of plugging in a fridge or phone charger, filming it and waiting to see how long it lasts...you can do the math based on the power draw of your fridge and the temperatures you travel in. The heated blanket test I have done with other batteries before...again it's kind of just simple DC power math because these batteries are lithium. I tried to give it harder tasks this time. Check out that guy I referenced at the beginning of the video for the bench top tests. These companies also give deadlines so I can't always test it for 6 months then make a comprehensive review, they end up basically being first impressions videos. Perhaps I can do a long term review.

    Inrush current like when a motor starts

    'Warm up phase'.... it's called a glow plug. My Jackery 500 doesn't put out enough power for the glow plug either. My Bluetti does. The Bluetti also has a high amp 12v port (25a), so plenty of power there. For the loss of power overnight.. test it: let it sit powered on overnight with zero draw... there is internal parasitic loss. For the blanket, put it on a monitored plug and plug it in at home - they cycle on/off normally, yes. Your jet boil is running off an isobutane canister, not propane.

      Well the funny/weird thing is.. I do run and start the diesel heater just fine with the Jackery 240.. The double DC cord split would just be for starting it with my Jackery then continuing to run the heater off the larger battery.

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  6 місяців тому

      Theres not 250Watts of parasitic draw over night...plus the blanket was warm. I'll have to look into it but honestly don't care much because I am going to order a 12V blanket, hopefully they are slightly more efficient...

      I do really like that 25Amp Bluetti high output 12V, that's a really nice feature all these batteries should have.

      @mattmentzer8610 I reached out to the gears and gadgets guy to see if he quantified it. Assuming though a 260W over 8 hours depletion of the battery thats essentially 32 watts per hour. Basically a constant 2.7 amp draw if you assume constant draw (I don't think it was). Parasitic draw for most battery management systems I have seen really should not go above 0.1 Amps... My little usb fan pulls 2Watts on full blast (2/12 = 167mA or 0.167 Amps).
