Big fat thumbs up to Alex for pointing out Tesla's poor treatment of customers, poor ergonomics with regards to simple AC and audio control, double talk on FSD, skimpy on basic features, etc.
Your video on cybertruck broken hitch on torture test video forgot about tongue weight, only 1100 pounds. When the cybertruck which weighs more than 6000 pounds fell on its own hitch, it broke it off. Even Ford F-350 has only a 1500 pound tongue weight. So there is no special weakness here. The Ford did not even make it to the end of the pipes to experience the fall on its hitch, and was so stuck that it could not back up, and that is why the cybertruck had to be used to pull it out.
I know the explanation but that's still pretty bad and Tesla has no explanation of its own which means they don't even care to do PR. But that video is so full of issues with the Cybertruck that even if we subtract this one it is still a very poorly made pickup truck
Per SAE J2807 the Tongue weight rating is determined through vehicle dynamic, handling, and performance testing with the tongue loaded, not structural testing. Hitch Structural requirements per J2807 involve vehicle performance and dynamic testing with the a trailer loaded at max TWR or trailer weight rating. Vertical forces on tongue during these tests would far exceed tongue weight rating. The cyber truck would have passed these tests for its tow rating certification Internal stress analysis and testing of the hitch structure would be a separate thing. Some manufacturers may design their hitch structure to the bare minimum to meet J2807, others may go beyond that.
You are right but is still a bad design because hitting the tow hook on a truck is normal in a off-road use. Every truck can fail it's the way that truck failed that make it a bad design, the chasis has to be strong enough or at least need a fuse part to save the chasis
I like all your videos that gives us options besides Tesla but also the honest truth on all topics. EV Viking has a good video of new upcoming battery technology. I like seeing where the improvements will come from. Thanks for all that you do!
I liked watching your EV review vids; you seemed to be presenting your own views in them. I'm not an EV fan (they're not eco-friendly), but I liked learning about them.

Alex, thank you for pulling back the curtain so the the behind the scene is visible. I am pleased that you landed on your feet in Thailand, still are making content and are improving your personal life. There seems to be a steel curtain of sorts between China and N. America.
hello from Austin Texas.. I hope to get vids 5 to 30 minutes long then watch at 2x. I have a half dozen tesla content creators to keep up with. I drive past the factory almost daily. (speed limit reduced to 80 mph from 85 because of all the construction i the area.
I've been a sub and fan of yours for years because EV's were new, I'm interested in the subject and like hearing about what's happening. But, now that I understand the tech and the concepts there is not much for me to learn about other than new battery chemistry and software. All the different models available in the US are pretty good, have similar features and performance. Once everybody got 250 miles of range or more, goes zero to 60 in 4 to 5 seconds, has decent overall quality what else is there to learn about other than details about how to adjust the volume on the sound systems or how good the self driving is? The Electric Viking talks all about new battery tech which is all that's left to learn about.
The public wants to see live car reviews, driving it around, sharing how it handles, how it feels, and even doing things with them. Thats what car enthusiasts enjoy watching, because there is only so much 'news' someone can consume, after some short news there needs to be entertainment or the audience will loose interest. Influencers that only do virtual reviews at a desk are unsustainable as you well pointed out. Viewers want someone using and doing things with cars. Its the basic formula that made Top Gear and The Grand Tour the biggest successes in auto show history. Doesnt matter if you didnt get early access to a new model, as long as you review various models available whenever you are able to access them. Doug DeMuro has some interesting reviews, even some of older cars, but his sitdown table chats are hard to sit through. Your wit and humour while reviewing cars would be some good entertainment for sure 😉
DETROIT (AP) - Tesla's second-quarter net income fell 45% compared with a year ago as the company's global electric vehicle sales tumbled despite price cuts and low-interest financing. The Austin, Texas, company said Tuesday that it made $1.48 billion from April through June, less than the $2.7 billion it made in the same period of 2023. It was Tesla's second-straight quarterly net income decline.
Hey Alex, you should have this guy on your show in the future, since he knows all about China and Southeast Asia's auto manufacturing and markets. Michael Dunne is the CEO of Dunne Insights, an advisory firm with expertise in global electric vehicle markets and battery supply chains. Dunne is also an LP at Assembly Ventures, a Michigan-based venture capital company. Dunne was previously the president of GM Indonesia and, before that, the managing director of JD Power operations in China.
Auto Focus with Marques Brownlee is clearly the best car truck EV channel now and he doesn’t block you or mute your comments if you disagree. Like transport evolved or you. Electroheads is the best all electric vehicles not just cars channel. Of course Electric bike review is still the OG as Tesla didn’t even sell a car when OGs were all on EBR
After having my comment deleted by a Tesla UA-cam channel about something Marques Brownlee found that contradicted their opinions I have to agree with you.
I watch to get get data, and informed commentary. This helps me form an opinion. This could be called influencing my opinion. To get a well informed opinion on a topic, it's necessary to draw from lots of sources, and synthesize what you discover. And then there is the influencing that involves your buying decision. This is different. I fully agree "influencers" are used by producers to influence the final buying decision - otherwise why spend the money. I very much respect Alex, that you give your honest opinion, and as that didn't suit the producers' agendas, it was logical that they wouldn't deal with you. And even more impressed that you judged Sandy by his actions, not his reputation. I've done that with sernior execs I worked with, and the office sycophants literally stopped going to lunch with me as a result.
Great video, I was waiting to see why you didn’t like the 3 and y, same reason I narrowed it to the X or S. The X got the vote because of ease of getting in, my old knees don’t like low cars. Our other car is a volt that I commuted in and is the burro for local driving. The X got hit by a rolling/bouncing object on 880 near Fremont and now I’m waiting for AAA to decide on fixing or total loss. Battery damaged and who knows what else. You should say hi to SANCTIONED IVAN, smart kid from Russia in Thailand.
I admit that I bought FSD, but only after Elon reduced the price to $2000. It works well where I live, but driving in rural areas isn’t all that complicated.
Hi Alex. Always love your video but lately rarely see your video poping up already. Maybe also because you been talking about being single in thailand too much here. Maybe Focus on EV here and 2nd vlog channel about thailand. People that interested in both will follow you both sides. Just a suggesion
Tesla's new car registrations in the Golden State dropped for the third straight quarter, with a 24% fall between April and June, according to the California New Car Dealers Association. Data from Cox Automotive shows that total EV sales climbed 23% from the previous quarter and more than 11% compared with the previous year. Similarly, data from CNCDA shows that EV sales in California hit their second-highest quarter on record in July. Elon's OCD on X is killing his auto sales everywhere. Sad!
I love the guys from Batteries Included Podcast. They haven't changed at all. They're always well informed and never argue in bad faith. It's great to have people like them exist on a platform with seemingly ever increasing clickbait and sensational content.
Good synopsis of Musk, intelligent person that does dumb things. A lot of rich and smart people should stick to their own industry and stop thinking they know about everything. I will say much of that phenomenon is our fault for glorifying and hero worship because a guy/gal is rich and let those people get away by spouting off on subjects they shouldn't talk about.
Sam Evans, The Electric Viking, his wife is going through Stage 4 Cancer, and he has 2 young kids. I watch The Electric Viking, Brighter with Herbert, Brian from Futuraza, Randy Kirk, and Farzad. I believe u would call them Tesla Fan Boys. I own 2 EVs but no Teslas, but I have recently bought Tesla stock though, bc I believe in Tesla solving autonomous driving and making Optimus bots. I think ur cool, as an OG like Ben.
Is Elon really working against Tesla’s interest by supporting a presidential candidate? A strong argument could be made that the other candidate/ administration has been very anti Tesla and it would be in the company’s best interest for a change. Agree or not, the argument is there.
Transport evolved, became extremely negative towards tesla. They backed GM cars even though both of them were breaking down all the time. They couldn't even pronounce the CHAdeMO connecter correctly. People just get tired of that sort of thing. You yourself at one point went down that same path. Make content on things you like. If you have to follow the money to pay the bills, then you will be disappointed.
I used to watch electric viking but he think that all the ICE car manufacturers are going out of business in 5 years and that's not going to happen. There are parts of the world that won't have EV's for the next 30 years. If the content is BS I don't want to watch it. I used to watch Sandy Monro but he became to total Tesla fan boy so I won't watch him any more.
I used to watch Munro, too. He was totally excited about the Mach-E when it first came out. Munro wasn't rational regarding EVs' not really being eco-friendly overall.
Yeah he does some good stuff but aslos there was a GAME CHANGING new battery tech coming out to disrupt everything with 950 wh/kg pretty much every week, again none are remotely coming out, there is no follow up, or if there is, it's lost in the 48, 000 Vids per year so u can't follow him follow a story or development. He needs a tracker spreadsheet and once a week same day same time release same heading he needs to cover the the updates on long term developments he is tracking. If he did that I wld watch those vids
Tesla's missing an opportunity to be the hero again, by booting musk & getting closer to the prime directive. I'd like the fan-trolls to chill, but I don't want Tesla to fail either
Wtf!! You giving dating advice wld be like elon giving project timeline advice! 😂😂😂😂 How about give dating advice when you are in a successful long term relationship with an educated and successful partner VS trying to find a domestic slave
I bought a Tesla because it was the best EV available at the time with the best charging infastructure, no regrets after 5yrs, have only spent $120 on maintenance to replace the 12v battery which they came and replaced on my driveway. I like Elon and Trump as they both speak their minds and don't follow the crowd, obviously they are both smart at business by their wealth!
