GWater2 - NPC, Ragdoll, and Player Collision
Вставка

- Today I showcase (proper) ragdoll collision and (hopefully) improvements to the visuals (I need feedback on this!)
Ragdoll collision was a very heavily requested feature and took me 4 days of rewriting code. Was it worth it? Maybe.. Although I am very tired now.
Stay tuned! Next video should include the beginning of diffuse particles (bubbles/foam).

Grigori laughing after getting showered in blood
Quite in-character
My gwater titanic dreams are becoming a reality
I think we need the shining scene
Also a slime character would be interesting
Father Gregory's quotes adds to the atmosphere 💀💀💀
i love how it starts to look less like blood and more like jam
That looks so good?? HOW????
Shaders and talent
@@TheGamingLagoonsphysx also
@@TheGamingLagoons that some 34 hours of work there
whenever i see Gwater2 blood it always reminds me of killing floor 2 physx blood effects. looks sick
They use the same physics engine which is probably why 😉
2:32 bro really wanted free wine so bad 💀
2:33 hes enjoying it
The imagery of a noclipping individual in all its violent and rigid glory just flashing upwards, emerging from the blood of their enemies like god damn Omni-Man is incredible.
1:39 Bro really said "Hell Yeah!!" with his mouse... And yeah, thats cool.
i can't wait to wait some more for this addon to release
Oh boy, I'm Justin Thyme.
Bro oiled up father gregory 💀
Player collision should make space when you just step in it, then fill back up and make your feet soak, not that they have some sort of water proof shield around them.
If I had to guess, that's probably not possible due to the way it works. Simply put, the spheres that make up the actual simulation are too big to realistically not leave any gap when colliding with objects. You could lower the size of the particles and that would probably work better, but doing so makes the simulation much more expensive.
@@Big_Money_Salvia Or you could turn the collision off when the player stops moving so that the water particles go where the feet are. Still might not be possible to do though
the easier fix is, you just install an addon for body self awareness.
then you would see your actual legs and not the invisable collision
Its not a shield, its your feet, which you can't see by default.
2025 Machinina makers eating good tonight
i can finally piss on the dead zombie for killing me
cant wait for it to release!
The fact you made this in a 2 decades old engine is wild to me, good job dude
Facepunch should hire you
You've made so much progress. Looks great.
super excited
Would be cool if it worked with your other mods, mainly the seamless portals yk like the effects go through it, so epic, Anyways Amazing Work, Wow
Would be nice :3
Since it runs on an external shader instead of lua, it'd be difficult. But knowing Mee, it may be possible using the pre existing API that they've made.
it's more of a pain then you'd think. there isn't a callback or anything provided by FleX because of the large overhead. I'll look into it but there's no guarantee
Heck yeah! Amazing work.
This is simply incredible!
I'm waiting 2 months for Gwater 2 to be released in the steam workshop 🤗😊
it's so beautiful
Impressive! Every new post get me excited to see more features. And I thought gwater 1 was fire, but thats just a greater sequel! Keep it up! P.S: Thanks for Boosty option!
Bro is like Minecraft physics mod liquid v2 but 10 times better
I just realized how cool of pictures I could make with this mod.
thats crazy! Good work
I hope that it will become a tool soon, because, as I see it, it is very situational, and not everything that I can imagine can be done (now we have to build a reservoir for water particles to create a constant flow)
and draining as an entity or tool will also be amazing, creating rivers and waterfalls will be much easier, and you will not need to remove ALL the particles.
I'll start messing with those kind of features eventually
Your work on this is impressive.
love how you can flick the blob away
Dear Meetric I want to ask a question HOW TO MAKE IT SO SMOOTH
The smoothing code has been rewritten so they're a little better than 0.2b. The next public update will include the improvements
@@Meetric1 ok but meetric i want to ask another question why toasted headcrab video about cracked gwater2 isn't getting removed
Cuz my friend has a cracked one and i have a payed one it is not fair you are making updates to it and you just did gwater2 to make money for beta and on what you spend the money
this is unbelievably cool
THANKS
looks insane 😮
YOU FUCKIN DID IT!
awesome! keep up the great work!
man this is masterpiece
never thought I would see G-Man submerged into raspberry jam
WE BE BURNING OUR GRAPHICS CARDS WITH THIS ONE! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💥
Outstanding🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is so fire omg
aint no way this addon is gonna be free in the future... this is crazy
i cant wait to walk through poop water
Those blood effects are incredible, I want to do a DOOM Eternal screenshot with it so badly.
bro has been cooking 🔥
The fact that all this is possible in the ancient and buggy engine that is Source without significant slowdowns is amazing
I'm just here watching this insanity unfold
i love gwater
Insane.
bro, this is INSANE!!!!!
thats bananas
i think it should fade when very close to the camera, so that blobs arent so visible up close
That's some mad tasty jelly
looks really good, a bit too thick but if it wasn't like that it would lag really hard so its not even a valid nitpick
The visuals are too thick or the physics?
Yessss new update!!!
Oh my god, WOW
im really want to create a blood mod with gwater2, i think it was a really truly realistic blood mod ever created
Only critique is that it still collides when you go into noclip.
But I have to admit, the idea that you can't get away from the sticky liquid even in noclip is hilarious.
Very kool
bitrate is straight up shitting itself but looks good
You should make it so the liquid can push over objects, and make humans rag doll if it collides while moving fast enough. If that’s possible.
Impressive
Im wondering if there will be cloth physics like GWater 1 (probably not)
Ya, there will
BUBBLES AND FOOOOOAAAAMM! WOOOOO!
Holy crap!
babe wake up mee posted
NO ONE JAMS DARK HELMET
ight hear me out but doom 2016 into gmod with this
nice and also you should make the blood and water that is on players and npcs smaller
the red liquid looks like an oblex
woah
to think this is STILL SOURCE... insane
Finally!!! But are reaction forces functional?
Not yet
Hopefully the movement delay between objects and particles stuck on them can be fixed.
At the cost of framerate, yes
pov: you're part of the jello coating event
If you can do this in Garrys mod imagine the shaders you’d make in a real game engine dude, crazy good. Better than actual standalone fluid simulations. Coming from someone with experience in writing shaders I don’t think the average person watching understands how impressive this is
coming from the average person, holy shit.
Have you seen the stuff Grant Kot makes? He also uses shader based techniques for his simulations, pretty much built from scratch. It's crazy that someone is doing similar things in garry's mod.
@@MidBossI haven’t but I can see how this could easily rival non-Gmod fluid systems. And in a 2007 iteration of the Source Engine using Lua? Crazy talent.
@@TheGamingLagoons Indeed. I'm so happy that more stuff is happening with physics again lately after 10+ years of it being pretty much neglected.
Hah, yeah. Seen some people commenting "Why so expensive for just water?".
Its harder than you'd think!

It’d be nice if some day you’d manage to make it so that the water particles show up when you do a poster command render
Hm. I guess it doesn't work. What's the command?
@@Meetric1 my bad let me correct myself, it works fine when doing the poster 1 and 2 commands (allows for making screenshots at higher qualities than the normal player camera)
I’m mostly asking in relation to artworks/softlamps because doing anything involving large bodies of water has been notoriously hard to realistically make. I did testing and the water particles disappear in the final render when doing a softlamps render
Oh hm. gwater isn't really meant for static images like that. What is softlamps?
Pretty good, but I think this should be a toggleable option in the preformance settings.
How come?
@@Meetric1 For preference and preformance
It doesn't take any noticable performance. I can make it an option anyways tho
Now we need a overlay when head touches liquid. & not using camera
😍
Great!
now turn it white
Add mutiple liquid types(at the same time) support
Not possible unfortunately
Now people can put certain models in certain liquids...
Niiiiiiceeeeeeeeee
Could you make snow with this? Would be awesome to have snow trails that leaves real footprints
Probably
strawberry jam
wouldnt making single water droplets (water that isnt connected to anything) invisible until it connects to something imporve the look, because the single water droplets are the only thing ruining the look
Tried it, and it looks off
HOT
do you think it would be possible to make the cut goo enemy from halflife?
I ask this because this looks good, is sticky, and it can tell when a player touches it.
Its probably possible, though I don't plan on recreating it
this needs to be a blood replacement. imagine the gore mods with this
Someone already made one but only for version 0.1 meaning all the new features aren’t in it. They say they will make a new version for 0.4 soon
@@Pacman009 link?
@@xenomax9114 it’s only in the discord server and not the newest version of gwater
i wonder if we can mix Gwater with Gmod RTX trough Remix?
I think you just crash
This might be an extremely stupid idea but you should add a thickness value where they scale down based on their upward normal to make the particles look less thick. The height of the particle could also change based on speed and have them rotate towards the angle they are moving, might make them look better but this is entirely theoretical so i dunno.
just felt like water is too tall visually so this could be a cool fix to that
You can change the visual thickness of the liquid via a slider in the menu
@@Meetric1 splendid
say i got a question if i get the supporter patreon thing am i allowed to just cancel the payment right after i just bought it do i still get to keep gwater2?
If you pay for it, I think
Yes
@@Meetric1 so i think you said this in a different video but if i buy it once like i said do i still get access to the newer versions?
so that must mean that gwater is like an extra thing for the supporter pack right?
is there no way to make the liquids sync with the player better so theres less delay?
At the cost of performance, yes
could this replace blood from npcs?
