- This week on the Bag Gab I am offering my wholly unsolicited thoughts on the Louis Vuitton Deauville. This is a bag thought about getting. I was so glad to finally find it at an excellent price in perfect condition. Since adding the Montsouris to my collection I was definitely bitten by the vintage bug. This bag is 22 years old and looks new but for a slight patina of the vachetta. I (incorrectly) thought this bag was discontinued so it didn’t even occur to me to try to get it new. But what would you have done if you knew: buy the bag 20+ years old preloved (in like new condition) or buy it from the boutique?

Awesome find. Trying to decide on my next vintage piece. I just dropped off my bucket GM bag at the LV for a complete makeover. I got it from Japan and shipping was quick. The bag looked better in person.

I want to use this for travel, in the near future. But I’m worried the monogram version will attract unneeded attention at the airport. I’m paranoid like that.
I have a douville I bought in 2018 used it a handful of times it’s a big bag. I stopped using it as a handbag and more of an over night bag. It’s wonderful for that. I got mines from fashionphile for $600 very good condition. I’m actually looking to buy the trouville and stumbled across your video now I’m bringing out my douville and going grocery shopping lol
Yeah it’s so nice to bring down a bag that hasn’t been used in a while! Kind of feels new and fun again😂 I agree it is kind of big for everyday use and can get heavy. But a gorgeous piece for an overnight trip.
That's a really good point to make. Since I'm sure most companies that make travel goods would hopefully make those travel items more durable.

I use mines to travel. It’s great for going out of town. My friends call it my old lady bag

400 is good for this bag...and in excellent condition....I almost bought one for the same price on a auction...cancelled..bought another for more but I am really happy with it
Wahoooo! These vintage bags can be hard to price. Sometimes one is $500 but it’s missing the luggage tag and then another one is $475 and has luggage tag but it’s got a stain on the handle and then another one is $550 great condition but the owner lost the keys 😂. It matters so much what a buyer is willing to tolerate and what they’re willing to pay. I’m glad you got one that you are happy with.

Oh, I do hope you will find one that you love! I purchased this from next-innovation on eBay. To be totally honest though, they had a lot of stuff that wasn’t that great or had defects I didn’t find acceptable. So have a look at their stuff but I think like all preloved vintage items you just kind of have to keep browsing and be diligent.

Got my Deauville..and its a beauty...didn't spend alot either and its in great condition..The new one they have online is over 1800.
JL Matthews Wahoooo! It’s great you got one in great condition 😀 And as far as I can tell the new model is identical to the vintage so I’m not sure I understand the huge price difference 🤔

I have not purchased from a Japanese seller. But I do own the Deauville and I am ecstatic about it. The Vanity Bowler Bag that Louis Vuitton offers now is a smaller version of the Deauville. Just like the discontinued Trouville.

Mine is also 23 yo I just bought it from FASHIONPHILE. Very good condition with few water marks. Can’t complain 😀. Is the canvas stiff? Mine is stiffer than my 11 yo. I wonder if this is normal due to the age of the bag. TFS

I love this bag and just ordered one and waiting for it to arrive. I heard some people said it’s heavy, do you think it’s heavy? how much does it weigh without anything inside?
Yay! I hope you will enjoy it 🎉 I don’t know what it weighs but I don’t find it heavy on it’s own. Though it’s quite spacious and top handle carry so it can feel heavy once you put stuff in it. Especially if you carry in the crook of the arm.

So Fashion File for this Bag...I want to get one for 400 in that condition. I hope I can find one...I have bought from a Japanese seller before....Was there an odor in the bag lots of the Vintage bags have an odor....But I do hope I can find one in this condition fo that price...
JL Matthews I hope you will find one!There are some good deals out there sometimes. 🤞🏾There was a slight “aged” odor when I first opened it. I put a box of baking soda in the bag and let it sit for a few days and that took care of it.
