Bill Belichick said good morning to me and E.J. at practice yesterday and I melted on the spot. This whole trip has been worth it just for that. Oh and our Shrine Bowl recap pod and Super Bowl preview pod should be up this week: www.youtube.com/@BootlegFootball
This. You need to do this for all 32 teams after every season. And I would watch every, single, one of them. Your opinions on what it wrong with the teams - from ownership to the players - is entertaining as hell. Equally as entertaining (and quite frankly exciting) is your take on what changes need to be made to fix the teams is hands down awesome. The content gives fans (yes, I am a Cowboys fan) hope and a reason to look forward to the next season. Appreciate this stuff my dude, I really mean it.
I totally agree and also, thank you. This is a killer breakdown and projection and all of your work is stellar. We appreciate you. Now I request that you do an update after all the activities that have occurred over the last month.
IF Sean Payton fixes the broncos offense I would love to see a comparison of the plays and schemes that worked with Sean and the ones that didn't work under Hackett
Payton’s a good coach so they’ll probably be alright, but his quick game offensive doesn’t fit Russ at all. Not saying he can’t adapt it’s just kind of interesting
@@osirisapex7483 I think he would have to make a small shift, but yeah Russ even in Seattle was a grind the ball down the field, where Brees would run that ball over the field.
Russ had a firm hand in the plays called and ran…. From my understanding, Hackett basically let Russ have equal control! So the biggest difference is Payton is not going to let him play Peyton Manning lol!
Can’t tell you how excited I am for this offseason for Justin and the future of this franchise. To see the kid break league records with his legs when running was never the main part of his game and wasn’t why he was drafted, was insane.
Exactly People don’t know that. He was scouted as a pocket passer. He even left Georgia cuz they wanted him to play like Lamar Jackson and put him in for QB runs. Everything extra is just a pleasant surprise.
Eh. I mean its sorta the same how DJ's athleticism was an extra feature that Daboll was smart enough to turn into a feature with his current offensive rebuild. His pocket passing game is still pretty good but its hard to exploit that without dependable receivers. Field's running ability with his size will still be a threat with teams choosing to play light boxes/zone until the Bears run game starts to rip explosives. Bears offense just needs more receiver help to take advantage of openings when the opposing defenses decide to put more guys in the box or blitz.
There is just one big issue. He had absolutely studs at the Wr position that were simply better than the people on the other side of the field. So the bears drafted the best version of him when he’s surrounded with talent. These last two years are what he looks like with none. So you guys definitely have an uphill battle in having him reach his potential
As a Bears fan, this made me rock hard. Even if it doesn't play out like in this video (which it won't), it's incredibly fun just to fantasize about the potential deals, trades, picks etc. considering the amount of toys we can play with, as you put it. I'd personally prefer Will Anderson over Carter, if both are there at 4 (unlikely), especially if we do get Payne. Fingers crossed. Some new names unknown to me that you really got me hyped up for, I will be checking all of them out for sure. You got me hyped for Teven Jenkins with your video, I was ecstatic when we drafted him, and I am still stanning him to this day, so why not huh? :D Good stuff, man.
I can say for damn sure Tyjae Spears would be a good pick. Remember, Tulane threw the ball 7 times, 4 on the game winning drive, in scoring 46 on USC and winning, and Tyjae had been that guy that whole season and his whole time getting PT at Tulane
I love these videos!!! Huge Chicago Bears fan here and man I hope they do smart thinking this year! Thank you so much for the great content. And I would also like to ask what your favorite team is too. Thank you!
Great video! Big fan of most of the moves with the possible exception of the tunsil one. I’d give Braxton Jones another year at tackle, and that colts first is gonna be valuable
Brett your litterally the goat bruh. I been needing u to make rebuild videos forever since I started watching years ago. And the day has finally come. Need more of GM Brett. Entertaining and interesting asf.
Would like a bit more explanation as to why the Bears trade a likely top 5 pick that they could use on Harrison Jr. next season and spend 24M AAV on Tunsil instead of continuing to develop Braxton Jones who has a ton of potential. Not to mention the Texans dead cap hit from trading Tunsil would leave them unlikely to do so especially with bringing in a new QB
Priority number one is getting Fields the best possible supporting cast this year so they can cleanly evaluate him to determine if they want to do the 5th year option. Year three is it. Year four is a total afterthought to me.
I had the same question and alot of the problems came from the interior with whitehair, Sam, and Tevin when not playing. Tired of Bears constantly moving lineman and not letting them develop. Bears should replace the LG,C,RT, possible RG depending on Tevin's health. Plus the Bears are more than Jalen Carter or Will Anderson away Poles seems like to make calculated moves not values draft picks more than free agency. I would rather trade with Carolina in hopes of getting the Miami-49ers deal maybe they add Burns just to get the qb for Frank.
My first thought as well, Braxton Jones looked awesome this past season, signing 2 big money OTs makes absolutely no sense when you have a super cheap young guy who was one of the better run blocking tackles in the league as a rookie
Plus with the Indy pick being possibly high next year get Marvin Harrison jr is a Must. When was the last time bears had a generational talent on the offense we had plenty on the defense and how did it go.
I think you missed this a bit. No extension for EJax?, no replacement for Monty, who is a FA, and completely ignores Braxton as a high-quality tackle prospect. Spending and building this team like an all in year goes entirely against everything Poles has established in terms of his mindset.
If the bears do half this well, I'll be so goddamn excited for next season. Hell, I already am. Hope you do a deep dive retrospective on the bears actual moves when you get closer to the season (or next offseason)
@brettkollman can you do an update on the Bears after the draft please please please pretty please? I’ll make a contribution to your payment platform of choice.
Too bad that he’s NEVER going to be there at that point. He won’t make it out of the 1st round. He said 40% but that’s generous. I would say closer to 5% if that.
There's a lot of great football UA-camrs and I greatly enjoy watching a lot of them, but man Brett the production value of your videos is simply unmatched
This made my day. It’s hard to have hope as a Bears fan but this video gave me some for sure. As a Boston College -> University of Minnesota transfer, I would explode if the Bears got Zay Flowers and John Michael Schmitz. Let’s pray Ryan Poles is a subscriber🙏
First time I’ve watched a video from you and I gotta say that this is legitimately one of the most articulate, thorough, and intelligent videos I’ve seen on UA-cam ESPECIALLY in the football space. You have earned yourself a sub and I’ll be sending this to several of my friends who aren’t even bears fans, like myself, and will love this. I’ll be going back through your older videos the next couple days. Keep it up man. Damn. Great job
Great video! I really liked the WR run in day 2 and 3 I think that’s a good way of adding talent without over-investing after the claypool debacle. Only thing I’d change would be McGary. I think they’re really high on Braxton Jones, for fair reasons, so I think they get one tackle. Seeing Laremy show up was exciting tho. Love having a Brett+bears video!!!
Honestly think we could be fine with either getting Laremy or McGary but we don't necessarily need both. We need RT addressed and the C position addressed and possibly LG.
Amazing content as usual, Brett. love the aggressiveness to fix the trenches on both sides & the weapons, LOVE the understanding that Indy is the pinnacle trade partner for Da Bears, and love the overall pursuit of happiness (pls) without having to delve into the nitty gritty of the entire offseason when so little is known right now. I'm not lovin' the Tunsil move when they could have Braxton Jones + key Day 1 and/or 2 rookies at a fraction of the cost. Poles wants to build through the draft (who doesn't) and it's not crazy to think that Braxton has a chance to be a solid starter if he can improve upon his All-Rookie year. Very understandable move though. Cody Whitehair is a prime candidate for getting cut, which sucks. But it's expected that they will pursue a LG as Cody regressed a bit last year. Maybe that was health, maybe not. D-Mont just might be returning on a "team-friendly" contract and it was no secret that Flus and Co. loved the way he handled business, on/off the field. HITS philosophy 101. Having him would make me feel better about Tyjae's role early on but it could be crowded. CB is a sneaky need for them. Kyler has shown inside/outside versatility but they need another guy at the other spot. Seems destined to be Flus' nickelback. Extensions for Kmet, Jaylon Johnson, Mooney?? Poles will take swings at athletes and looks for "resilience" above all else in prospects. Bear Down.
They are really, really nicely and professionally produced, not just nicely scripted and edited. You can tell Brett puts a lot of money & effort into producing top-tier, quality content, not just cranking out as much content as quickly as possible.
Since the Flowers pick is honestly a coinflip on still being there I could def see Hutchenson taken, I feel if they also build a beefy tight end core they could have a crazy run game with the rest of your investments into Oline. I love seeing these ready to bounce and grow teams
I love how he said how center is so important for someone like Justin fields since having a great line and especially great center has helped jalen hurts
Absolutely fantastic video. Only thing that I would have potential questions on is the Tunsil trade. Having Braxton Jones be a bright spot on the line at left tackle this past year definitely makes that trade a little tricky in my opinion.
Love the video, would definitely watch for most other teams in the league. I think the Giants situation could be interesting to focus on, with DJ, Barkley , decent cap space but also some crappy contracts
Bears fan here. Love the passion and knowledge sharing! I would personally like to see a DB somewhere in here, but honestly, if we had exactly this off season, I'd be ecstatic.
Hard pass on trading the Colts pick for Tunsil. I’ll ride with Braxton jones with a full year in the Bears weight room. Like you said, that colts pick will be a top 5 next year. Possibly even 1 overall if they ride with that new rookie. I’ll use the tunsil money on another corner and linebacker. I’ll ride with your picks in the draft and add more because we keep the colts picks u sent to Houston in the tunsil deal that WILL NOT HAPPEN.
Yea trading the Colts pick for Tunsil, which like he said could be a top 5. Id use that on M. Harrison Jr, who will be as good as J. Jefferson if not better.
Yeah this is a good video but that Tunsil trade is awful. Braxton Jones showed potential to be a franchise left tackle for years. If anything you just sign the best right tackle possible.
I want to inject this into my veins. Need this for every team. The production quality is fantastic and I know this must’ve been an insane amount of work but just know that is is VERY much appreciated.
Love this Brett. Thanks for giving me Bears content!! I think Braxton Jones was serviceable last year but is going to make a big enough jump to justify allocating the salary cap elsewhere. Love the idea of investing in 3 DL.
As a Bears fan, I can't say enough how much I appreciate this! I know that not ALL of those sigings are going to happen but it would be nice if a couple if them did! Thanks for the analysis! Great content!
As a Bears fan, I can’t wait for this entire offseason to blow up in our faces because I genuinely can’t imagine it working out because I haven’t associated NFL football and joy together in over a decade because of this team
I would die of happiness if our offseason went like this lol. The draft was a little bit of overkill at the WR position but that's just nit picking. A+ mock
I can understand wanting to upgrade at LT and bring in someone who's done it well consistently, but then to go after an RT as well and take Braxton Jones totally out of the lineup I can't see happening. The front office loves him, and he played about as well if not better than you could expect from a 5th rounder from Southern Utah, starting every game this season. I have a hard time envisioning any scenario where he isn't starting at one of the two OT spots next season.
Great video one of your best. Would legit be perfect for all 32 teams. That’s a lot of work but would absolutely money for you during draft season. All the best Brett. Best football content creator on UA-cam.
@@ironfistalexander3246 yeah but they could have still traded down and still have their second instead of a mid receiver. And I'm a Steelers fan saying this.
@@joshh.2159 the trade isn’t great but considering the WR free agent class and the fact that fields and claypool only played ONE game where they both got >50% of snaps together, i’m not ready to make a verdict i think saying they’re “fucked” is a bit exaggerated, that makes it sounds like the trade set their franchise back multiple years. the steelers got some good value, the bears have so much capital they can pretty much shrug it off
This is a wonderfully presented off-season and mock draft. I really enjoyed the way you laid everything out for the contracts. I wish I could like it more than once!
The attention to detail in this video is so admirable. Would love to see this on all teams if time allowed it. Breaking down cap situations isn't seen enough over the offseason.
Important to note, that Poles is famous in KC for managing the Cap. He's a frugal type, and won't overpay like that contract that Roquan got. That's why he did next to nothing last offseason, choosing instead to eat the dead cap to free it up for this offseason. So he will take a calculated approach.
Hi! I'm surprised I didn't see a patreon for your bootleg football channel. I was hoping you guys would release a draft prospect ranking sheet. I love watching your clips from both channels. Thanks.
Brett - could you do an explanation video on NFL cap space? No matter how much I hear about it, I just get more confused. Would be cool to see you explain it with your narrative & visual editing style
That's one heck of a haul! Just the top three picks would change this team dramatically! Love Zay Flowers ! I'd probably add a CB in the 3rd or 4th round! Free agent pickups were "All BEASTS." If you hit on five of those targets, we'd be well on our way to contending! 🐻⬇️
Great video! As a bears fan I probably would have went for a corner with the last receiver pick but I would be beyond ecstatic if this was what our off season looked like.
Id love to see one of these on the KC Chiefs for next year. They have a lot of cap space and picks to play with next year, as well as some big guys coming up on free agency. Please Brett! Love the content thanks.
Beautiful job Brett, that's a really good breakdown where you took the time to explain your reasoning. Though I don't agree with every move (no one ever will) I like the team that is built with the current pieces that we have
Great video. It would have been really cool if you did a projected depth chart at the end. I agree you should do these with more teams. Start with my Giants!
This was awesome. Thanks so much for doing this. Getting Zay would be the dream but no chance that happens. Then again I never thought we'd get Fields in the draft but here we are.
Had to play against Jalen Carter in high school my junior year. I Went to Oviedo we were playing them in a pre-season scrimmage he was trying maybe 20% at best. First play he shoves our out of the way with one arme picks off the screen pass and runs it back for a td. I knew then he was just different.

As a Bears fan, I can’t wait for this entire offseason to blow up in our faces because I genuinely can’t imagine it working out because I haven’t associated NFL football and joy together in over a decade because of this team
Bummmerrr
I would die of happiness if our offseason went like this lol. The draft was a little bit of overkill at the WR position but that's just nit picking. A+ mock
Is it wrong if I want Braxton Jones to stay at LT?
I can understand wanting to upgrade at LT and bring in someone who's done it well consistently, but then to go after an RT as well and take Braxton Jones totally out of the lineup I can't see happening. The front office loves him, and he played about as well if not better than you could expect from a 5th rounder from Southern Utah, starting every game this season. I have a hard time envisioning any scenario where he isn't starting at one of the two OT spots next season.
Hey Brett, thank you for making a video around my favorite NFL franchise, congrats on all of your success and god.bless you and your loved ones
Never say "there's nowhere to go but up" when you're the Bears staff. :D
Great video one of your best. Would legit be perfect for all 32 teams. That’s a lot of work but would absolutely money for you during draft season. All the best Brett. Best football content creator on UA-cam.
He should do this for the Texans as well lol
In that one he'll keep Tunsil lmao
@@chadrobert116 unless if he uses Tunsil in a trade package for the first pick to ensure Bryce Young 😉
This off-season video is amazing! As a falcons fan I think that this would give a lot of things to look forward to!
Brett, you think Brady will perform better than Romo in the booth?
UHHHHHHEEEEEOOOOAAAHUHHHHHH I DONT KNOW JIMMMM
well he certainly wouldn't ride mahomes as much as romo does
I love this mock off-season content. I hope you do this for more teams
The fucked themselves HARDDDDD with that chase Claypool trade wow
they can recoup an early second pretty easily with a trade down
@@ironfistalexander3246 yeah but they could have still traded down and still have their second instead of a mid receiver. And I'm a Steelers fan saying this.
@@joshh.2159 the trade isn’t great but considering the WR free agent class and the fact that fields and claypool only played ONE game where they both got >50% of snaps together, i’m not ready to make a verdict
i think saying they’re “fucked” is a bit exaggerated, that makes it sounds like the trade set their franchise back multiple years. the steelers got some good value, the bears have so much capital they can pretty much shrug it off
This is a wonderfully presented off-season and mock draft. I really enjoyed the way you laid everything out for the contracts. I wish I could like it more than once!
The attention to detail in this video is so admirable. Would love to see this on all teams if time allowed it. Breaking down cap situations isn't seen enough over the offseason.
I think you should also go over possible extensions and cuts for players currently on the team.
Thanks.
If i recall, they added over $30M after trading away R Quinn and R Smith, so it's over $130M, so you have $30M left to work with.
Great stuff brett. You need to do this for all the "BAD" TEAMS. the good teams we could care less about. Less stress for u my dude.
Love these kind of rebuilds mate. With the way you’ve thrown in the contracts and how they work is great. Keep it up. Looking forward to the next one.
I liked the mock only thing is drafting 3 receivers is unrealistic for the bears who have more needs on edge
That would be an amazing offseason for the Bears!
Great video! As a bears fan I probably would have went for a corner with the last receiver pick but I would be beyond ecstatic if this was what our off season looked like.
This was a really fun one! Love the McGary free agency grab and the Zay Flowers pick
LOVE this kind of content - keep it coming!!!!
I absolutely LOVE the background music on this. Somehow fits perfectly perfectly lol
This was hands down the best Mock Offseason for the Bears that anyone I've seen even come close to doing. And I've watched hours of others now.
Id love to see one of these on the KC Chiefs for next year. They have a lot of cap space and picks to play with next year, as well as some big guys coming up on free agency. Please Brett! Love the content thanks.
never seen a sideline reporter with an SM7B. much strength. brett always top shelf quality
holy shit those JMS clips have me sold on a late first round for him the way he works his head around and keeps his hands inside is insane
Beautiful job Brett, that's a really good breakdown where you took the time to explain your reasoning. Though I don't agree with every move (no one ever will) I like the team that is built with the current pieces that we have
Also yes I'm a Bears fan
This was badass! I always love your videos, but this was nuts! Keep it up man!
Absolutely love your content Brett! Keep it up!
Great job Brett. Keep the content coming!
Please do more of these videos! I absolutely love this !!
Did you just off-season GM the bears lmao. Holy crap man. Best content I’ve seen in a WHILE
if you can, I’d love to see all 32
great video. the quality and growth of this channel in the last two years has been special. keep it coming!
Great video. It would have been really cool if you did a projected depth chart at the end.
I agree you should do these with more teams. Start with my Giants!
Really hope this becomes a series
As a Bears fan, i really enjoyed this video! Can’t wait for free agency and the draft. 🙌
This was awesome. Thanks so much for doing this. Getting Zay would be the dream but no chance that happens. Then again I never thought we'd get Fields in the draft but here we are.
100k views in two days. Itll reach a million in no time. Great details and editing. Subscribed.
This would be a dream come true.
Literally, A dream come true for this life long Bears fan!
Thanks for putting in all the work on this!
Brett's videos give me so much serotonin fr
This was a cool video! I know it takes a while to do but def should do this for more teams!
The Bears got a better haul from the 1st overall pick than your best case scenario, somehow
this is really cool. Would you ever do a series on this type of thing but for other teams?
Had to play against Jalen Carter in high school my junior year. I Went to Oviedo we were playing them in a pre-season scrimmage he was trying maybe 20% at best. First play he shoves our out of the way with one arme picks off the screen pass and runs it back for a td. I knew then he was just different.
Awesome video with some great names to look into. Thanks Brett 🍻
