Thank you, Ashlee! I’ve never practiced Czerny but am working to make the technical exercises I do practice more musical. We just talked about this at my most recent lesson. It’s another dimension to the exercise that I need to remind myself of.
Ashley, I agree with you, which is why I prefer Czerny opus 821. These are short 8 measure pieces which are musical and fun to play. There are 160 of them so I pick one that works on something I’m trying to fix in my practice ( rotation, tempo, 2 on 3 metronome work, etc). Then when I go back to my piano practice assigned by my teacher, I’m more fluent in each measure and I can expand the post-it’s.
i'm probably one of the lucky ones...retired at 68 and been constantly playing around 3hours a day....i have only one technical exercises - Czerny Dexterity op 740...playing Czerny is like a passage for me...its like a marathon for your fingers....they say it takes 8yrs to be proficient...i'm trying to make it 4-5yrs - you can say i'm pressed for time....Czerny op740 is very demanding it can really hurt your hands....pretty sure Chopin, Bach, Rachmaninoff to mention a few have hurt their hands a few times
Show off a little!! You're an incredible pianist who we don't get to hear enough of!!! Your playing is more inspiring than you may even give yourself 💳 for!!🤘🙏🙏👏# Always grinding Always listening🙏
Your group doesn't work for me because of the time difference. There might be a change soon since I've started my climate lawsuit against my local Swiss government and so I'll keep you informed. Sounding musical? I'm painfully aware that this is my biggest problem with playing. I don't have music in my head, so it's difficult for me to know what to do. I have started singing with a pitch monitoring software, but I have to make sure that my neighbors aren't home. But I live on a busy street, and the other day there was a knock at the door. Some passerby called an ambulance crew. And they recommended a chest x-ray as they listened to my solfège. But I'm making some progress, so I'll keep at it.
@@amberchiangmusic Merci. I have some basics from a University level beginners singer course, but the circumstances of the first day left some painful scars. I also recently discovered I have Aural Aphantasia, so I'm putting my musical direction into question. I'm still going to play piano and ukulele, and I'll try singing, but I'm not going to rush into trying to do too much.

Oh good! That’s great that you found it!
My teacher just started me on Czerny this week after months of Peterson - timing couldn’t be better 😃 thank you!

This is great! Thanks for saying so and I know this comment will benefit others as well :)

Haha thank you so much!!
If I had practiced Czerny I would have been guilty of everything you mentioned and in the same order!
Well I’m so glad you saw this then!

Singing is great for helping to be musical. I can help with that!
Nice! Agreed!

@@lawrencetaylor4101 How does that effect your playing/singing? I'm not familiar.
