Love Julia, seems very charming and easy going. Was a shame she was taken advantage of by her original contractor. Glad Mike, Shawn and the rest of the crew came to her rescue and made it right,
I wish I could have Mike and his team come to make my townhouse right! I too had my place inspected, but there were many problems, such as plumbing issues and ceiling issues. My kitchen cabinets are falling apart. It's so hard to do repairs after the "inspector" claims everything is ok.
I would love to work for Mike Holmes. Do it better than code. Make it right every time I always went overboard but it never broke. And it was done right and my customers for happy. I just wish I would have a chance to work for him. When I was younger I'm too old to do it plus I messed up my back. I'm completely out of general construction.
Most of the basement floors needs to be carpeted, vs laminated. Laundry room needs ceramic tile or linoleum. Same goes for the furnace room, ceramic tile or linoleum. It is cheap, waterproof, and looks pretty good when done right!!! Just use the proper colors and you are all set!+
Yes there is a new show on HGTV that just started, shows Mike, his son Micheal, and his daughter Sherry. Renovating homes of people who a contractor left with unfinished projects.
It’s amazing, you always say do it right. Do it right the first time. You’ve got ceramic tile down really good and that I commend you for. And bring in the electricians and the plumbers to do things correctly. That’s just fabulous but I have yet to see you bring someone in to install carpet correctly. For one when they say they can’t hide a seam in the carpet Always they’re mostly full of hockey puck. If you have to sell the carpet from the backside first and then iron it from the backside to hide the seam properly that’s how you do it but apparently nobody in Canada knows how to lay carpet properly. And you don’t put carpet in using a knee kicker. You use a power stretcher you get that carpet as tight as you possibly can. The tighter the carpet is the softer it is the longer it lasts. And you don’t have to put a expensive high-quality pad under it to get a long life out of it. If it isn’t stretched in correctly, you will never ever have wrinkles no matter what the situation and you’ll never get called back. I know you’re not out doing these repairs you have other people doing them now, but still it be nice to see you on one of your shows, then bring in power stretchers, do the seams right, put the tack strip in correctly and do a just proper job. This has bothered me for years and watching this show of the mold and lifting floor just once again no power stretcher just a knee kicker sloppy work. They’re not doing it right !!!
You seem to know alot about laying carpet, but the methods used have changed over time, and that is the difference between what you are seeing and today's methods, some of Mike Holmes's shows were done thirty years ago, some of his shows show his son and daughter when they were much younger, like twenty years ago younger, some of his shows show his children in their early teens, his children are now in their mid thirties almost forty years old. Anything can change over that span of time including installation methods and procedures and products.
Well, I do know things have changed when it comes to flooring but they haven’t changed that much. And I still watch your guys that you bring in to install carpet and they all use knee kickers only. Carpet Hass to be power stretched and that’s doing it right. That is what your shows about doing it right, the first time. You guys do a great job on ceramic tile. I have installed miles of ceramic tile on countertop on floors on the shower walls. I have installed parquet flooring. I have installed wood flooring I have installed battleship linoleum. Which most people today have never seen one of the meanest ones to install is Armstrong‘s designer solarium vinyl if it’s cold and you try to bend it, it just snaps, and it’s a real pain in the butt to work with carpet you have to power stretch it you can’t put it in with a knee kicker and yes times have changed and materials have changed they used to make the carpet with double juke back and a lot of guys would cheat by pouring hot water on the carpet where the bubbles were or the puckers because they didn’t install it right so the carpet shrink and it looked nice. But walking on it it would loosen up again and have wrinkles. Now they use what’s called an action back. It’s all man-made fiber from oil and it slips and it needs stretched to properly stay flat with no wrinkles. Not to be disrespectful, but you can blow smoke up some peoples butts, but please don’t try to blow it up mine.God be with you.
Hey Mike question about the flooring because I put Pergo flooring in a bathroom in one of the houses that I had but I was told that was fine and dandy depend on which flooring you get the flooring that I use was Pergo flooring
Does anyone ever sue the original contractors to get their money back. Who pays for the new renovation. Do you ask the owner what color tiles she prefers because the ones installed were pretty dark and will show the dirt and dust. Great job everyone.
For most of the HoH and HI series, the labor and some materials were covered by the show or donated; the remainder was usually covered by the homeowners. The homeowners had some input on layout, color schemes, & materials.
I wish there was someplace I could go to watch every show and every episode Mike has. Would be nice to buy full DVD sets of the shows.
That would be one hell of a big box set! I agree though, I wish there was a place to watch all of them.
I do to I'd like to watch them in full
How blessed would we be if Mike was able to help us all

Thank You for the full episode! I did not see this one and enjoyed it very much. Keep them coming!
Glad you enjoyed it! We post full-length episodes every Monday/Wednesday so definitely stay tuned :)
This was an amazing story about what is underneath. . . and how it contributes to problems.
I really like the laundry room especially the tiles. It brings out the room brightness.
Love your work 😊.

I could see how frustrated Mike felt. The crew had been working really hard to clean up the moldy flooring.
hey mike, are you ever make any new shows?

Surprised he never mentioned the gas meter inside the house yet at 9:09

Please tell me they moved that gas meter and regulator to the out side 😂
That toilet is way to close to that bulkhead they had to install when they fixed the plumbing
PLEASE FIX AND BRING BACK THE 24/7 LIVESTREAM PLEASE
IT HAS BEEN FIXED 🛠

These other contractors have to be Bonded to get their contractors licenses right ? That means they are liable for this “work” they did , right ??
The tiling is terrible, really amateur 😢 never noticed that when I watched it years ago.
Name and shame these Cowboys! They shouldn't get away with it.
So, there was a REASON the previous owner had the basement in an unfinished condition.
If the other guy hit the homeowner up for a additional $25,000 plus to do what Mikes doing she would told them to leave, you get what you pay for
More like 40k
Directions. RTFM. By the way, please don't use any music while anyone is speaking. It is a little distracting. Thanks.
