    I am an old man who has always done what he wanted, working 16-20 hours a day and loving every minute of it. My wife and I managed to hold double careers for the entire of our 51 years together. She in Special Education, me in Vocational Rehabilitation, WE IN HORSE BRÈEDING/SHOWING, PERFORMANCE. In the woods of North Florida we carved out a place for a house, barn, fence, multiple deep wells and quickly clearing acres of dense pines and woods and taking our retirement money to do it. We did not wait to retire to have our dream. Now I'm retired and playing with my chickens 🐔.. all that was EVER missing from our dream was MONTANA! Sadly I am not able to deal with snow at my age. We did get a ranch sitter on our 40th anniversary to allow us to go out to Colorado, the Sangre de Cristo mountains, to ride, chase cows, sleep on the ground and cook in a pit for 10 days. The snow was just melting, the wind was Cr a zy fast, the wildlife always showed up at the most inopportune times on the steepest slopes with the narrowest trails so i got a lesson in reality . In my mind I'm going to MONTANA but only in my next life. I'll have to live it vicariously thru YOU! Love your videos too much! Your early midlife videos are 50 years too late for us. I'll have to watch your UA-cam videos and imagine what it would be like without my walker and canes.
    Thanks

    Just don't change it to where you came from. Those lovely deer go into our freezers to feed us so that we can afford to live here. Montana is still very much a subsistance culture outside of Bozeman and Missoula and that is one reason it is different.

    • @charylliss1472
      @charylliss1472 3 роки тому +9

      @@Jordan-vf4up it means that our culture is the reason Montana is what it is and people want to move here. That culture is generally some subsistence living small family businesses that provide a basic income and supplemented by hunting, fishing trapping. These are means of supporting ourselves that a great many people find offensive. Mining, logging, These are not just by major corporations but individual small mining and logging operations. Over and over again as soon as they get here they try to do away with and impede the ways that we provide a living for ourselves.

    • @AlienTheCat007
      @AlienTheCat007 3 роки тому +7

      @@Jordan-vf4up I think you need to update yourself on the real reason people are flocking out of CA and why prices are so high...it's not just because "people want to live there".
      Natives of any state don't appreciate a rapid influx of out-of-state'ers who come in and try to change things, but it's also a poke in the eye for natives of a state when others come in and buy up all the land and houses, especially as "investments" and they do nothing with it. For example in Texas we're frustrated because the Californians bought up all the good land/houses, and inflated our economy because they shot straight up to upper middle class after the move. Natives can't afford houses and land like they used to, especially in areas like Austin and Dallas, which is where most of the CA refugees flocked to.
      Same thing is happening in Idaho, Colorado, Washington, Oregon.

    • @AlienTheCat007
      @AlienTheCat007 3 роки тому +5

      @@Jordan-vf4up Well I never claimed that people "are, or are not, allowed" to do anything. I explained a situation, because you seemed to lack understanding of what I'm talking about, and still do. Believe it or not states consider those born in the state and continue to live in them as "natives". Not literally the PC term for Native American. I get the sense I'm beating a dead horse.
      Capitalism is also not to blame for whats happening in CA. Trust me. That's a whole other train wreck of a topic.
      If suburban Californian's are anything like you right now I'm not impressed. Y'all can stay over there! LOL.

      @@spectacu_lar Larsen, you picked the most expensive part of the state to live in, or shall I say, survive in. Bozeman is falling off the charts in costs. Other cities are more tolerable. And yes, while job pay isn't the highest, Montana is the only place to be if you are of working age. We are a non right to work and non free will state, the ONLY state in the union actually, so employee protections are strong and fair. And I think people are willing to work two jobs just to stay here.
      I am a Montana native who has tried other places and always came back. There is a sense of safety and security being here, and will stay.
      But back to you, I hope you're doing okay, getting through the growth and changes happening around in the Boz Angeles area.

      Searat - Alaska, for those reading, is land-locked. Mainly requires airline transportation to the lower 48 to see family. Alaska is NOT for the non-self sufficient, under employed, or, the harsh winter unclimatized Californian type. Big big problem with homelessness in Anchorage as you read. Its nothing new really, ever since gold became the big lure, millions have died in they’re quest for riches. Oil jobs included. Fishing industry. Its a hard life to adjust too. I am old now, I will never consider relocating there just as I will not Montana. One slip on ice and I or my wife could surely end-up on ice at the local morgue.

      Madison Betts - City people forget home-life is radically different than Cold climate residency. Pipes freezing up, vehicle/s not operating as per usual, layering clothing, feet, toes freezing, hand, fingers becoming frost injured. Eye lids freezing together. Doors not opening, frozen, having to chip ice. Structural damage city people have never experienced. This is whats missing, lacking in these cute videos. Makes me think Walk Disneys Bambi, cute, new to this big new world of wonderment, a totally uninvited awareness of the evils just around the next bend. I call this life. I’ve made a TON of bad calls. Bad decisions. I count myself as no better than most, just maybe a wee bit wiser...
      FYI: Sudden fire/s break-out via way way over heated chimney pipe reaching spontaneous combustion level. Life threatening. I could fill a book I suppose. But, I can’t write a lick I’m told.

Its foundations to rule of law, civility towards one another, good citizenship, stewardship too our great lands. We need an educated people too what it means to be, and why we believe in the institutions of our Representative constitutional republic! I get sick of hearing the term democracy all the time. Hong Kong is a democracy...
      I doubt most people even know the original intent- the history to our first and second amendments too our constitution! But! For those two to work to America’s future we need full understanding to what who and why these two are the top primary amendments! It may take yet another civil war to make people realize- well shit! You mean all these people died because we didn’t know this clause as written in the original Federalists papers?

      I lived in Colorado 15 yrs. Allover from Fort Collins down to Colorado Springs where I'm at now. It's changed soooo much here. I wanted Peace, and Mountains. Now it's become "Calirado". Crime, liter in state parks, more people seem snooty and heartless. There is no belief in God here for the most part. The videos you see on youtube about Colorado only show the Beautiful mountains and are usually outdated about information of the state. I did visit Montana. Drove from Billings across to the west..Butte, Missoula, Polson, then up to Kalispell. I will say other than Yellowstone where.I lived at working resorts there, Montana feels like a Real Mountain state. People seem nice. Some older folks offered me a box of donuts in the morning just past West Yellowstone. I want Montana to be my last chapter of life. Tires of the city life, crime, booming rap music, and people who don't appreciate the land. Time to head out and head north west to God's last Beautiful Western mountain frontier!

    Hi Larsen I just turned 20 years old living in Alabama. I just went through my first break up and I don’t really feel happy where I live. I thought about wanting a fresh start when I turn 21 next year by moving out of my parents house and starting a new life by myself in a new state. I really believe that I want to move to Montana next year because I’ve always thought about living in the northwestern states like Alaska Montana Idaho all those states. I got a good amount of money that I’m saving right now. And I’m working on self improving my body by exercising and healthy eating. The only thing I’m worried about is the smaller population there. I’m nervous about moving there by myself and not being able to make friends and eventually finding love again even if I’m nice to people. It sounds a little dumb but it’s the one thing that actually pops up in my head a lot.

    Former wildlife officer here. DO NOT FEED the WILDLIFE for personal amusement. Montana is NOT Disneyland. We discover property owners doing this, then the animals must be destroyed. Go to a zoo or petting zoo for that kind of stuff.
    Another thing, when you collide with a deer some night on the road or swerve to avoid a dear or any other critter hitting a tree you’ll be introduced to a whole new reality of living in the boonies. Yes! You are brand new to this big world I see. I will not be moving there to Montana because I’m plumb wore-out responding to calls for help over thirty years folks from the cities not understanding little about nothing having to do with self reliance on far stretches of roadway.
    Winter traveling you will surely be adding to your PTSD within time. I- I want no part of it. Besides, now I’m old and grouchy an just plain wore the hell out of public people plundering and pillaging they’re way exactly as you do dear. No offense. Just an old lawmens lament...
    And ‘Like’
    And ‘Like’
    What is that about girl? My 7th grade neighbor girl lives on this term- LIKE? Is it somekind of modern Relate Better to communication targeted to specific audiences.
    Or? It is from Big Cities “like” is used> beverly Hills 9021 maybe?
    You in my opinion are making Montana as if its some sort of mythical religious awakening. Where I see, often dream at night of people dying in my arms because help is so far away. I’m alone.
    Sometimes, I feel very alone. Even in a big city now. Wilderness accidents are plentiful. Deaths from Propane would stifle the average person. I’m done here

      Larsen Engberg - Yes sir. Because it teaches wild animals, even lures them too the communities to GET hand fed versus foraging in natural habitat. This has been a big battle ever since Walt Disney made animals out to act, Make-believe in a conscious advanced human-like brain so convincing the people (Children) actually believe they need human intervention. Does this make sense? Squirrels and birds especially birds of pray are victimized by photographers similarly. Baited. So as to get that perfect money maker shot! While say, Ansel Adams, would spends weeks, months in hiding to get his perfect photo... Often times to his great peril.

    I don't see why people would think you're crazy for living in Montana - I would think they are. Like are they blind? 😂 I currently live in Philadelphia. I've been living there for 5 years now and I am so over it, I never really enjoyed it. I worked pretty much 3-4 years in Center City, took trains, walked everywhere, dealt with crowds, nasty people, etc. I appreciate the experience and the lessons but I need a new environment. I recently took a road trip to Bar Harbor, Maine for the first time and fell in love. There was nature everywhere you looked! You could hear the forest talking, you could smell the fresh air, you could hear your own thoughts, people were happy and nice, lol. I initially wanted to move to either Seattle or Portland, Oregon but seeing how those cities have been behaving lately I have opted out. I don't want to leave one intense city for another. I'm looking at west Montana for nature and quietness but also because it is so close to Canada, Seattle, and Oregon - all places I want to see. I really need a quiet environment for once. Thanks for the video.
