- So yeah....it's kinda funny that I wanted to do this in February, but I got lazy and didn't want to continue, so I redrew everything because my art style changed A LOT XD I still used some ideas from back then, tho.
I can't believe this took me a month fml BUT IT WAS WORTH IT! I can be proud of an animatic again :,) (sry for the lags tho, I couldn't do anything to correct it...)
And pls don't comment smth like "yo, ham's grave looks different in your who lives, who dies, who tells your story animatic", I was just lazy XD

Sad fact: Burr didn’t mean to shoot Hamilton in between the ribs, he wanted to shoot him in the arm (that wouldn’t have killed him) but ‘hes a terrible shot’ and thats why it didn’t strike his arm.
The pistols were also really hard to use so that might be part of it as well. It's really sad

Just realized that: what if burr is the narrator since the beginning because he feels guilty for killing Alex and feels that he owes him this?
Yes, Bur opens most sections of the musical and we dont get to see what happened in *the room* because we are looking from Bur's perspective
@@birb125 wel lthey kind of explained it-
Hamilton gave consent to move the united states capitol into Virginia, and in return he got a hefty amount of finacial power, able to then start the federal bank-
But if they could've stopped butching a just made a compromise before then it could've helped
It's ok, I didn't need my heart anyways 💔

@@birb125 It's also because Lin couldn't write a song/scene on what happened because no one knows exactly what happened in the room where it happened.
Burr: "Hamilton was wearing his glasses, WHY?!"
Me: HE IS GETTING OLD
honestly! he was 47!!(from what ive read) CUT HIM SOME SLACK BURR
I think he is trying to say that hamilton was putting on his glasses to aim, because he wouldnt need it to shoot up
But why wear them if you're going to shoot at the sky
Exactly like burr said "WHY! IF NOT TO TAKE *DEADLY AIM* ITS HIM OR ME THE WORLD WILL NEVER BE THE SAME!"
To see if Burr was softening. He saw him glare back at him. He always hated dueling, hated confrontation. Hamilton never had Burr's sense of self-preservation.
Fun fact, I heard somewhere that nobody could exactly record Hamilton's last words because he never stopped talking until he died. He also wanted to let Burr know he had no ill will against him for what he had done.

He said himself if the sun wasn't in his eyes he would've shot him in the heart.
Splitzy I know this dark. But That would probably be better. He would’ve died instantly then be paralyzed and spend the next hour/day dying.
But Ofc it would be the BEST if they decided to not shoot and go get a drink and play chess but *to each is own*

It makes even more sense when you learn the pistols they used didn't have rifling so they would be extremely inaccurate.

Fun fact Hamilton “Methodically Fiddled with the trigger” to make sure he missed because he didn’t want to kill Burr.
Its his dead son's gun😃
Philip Hamilton never had a gun in the first place, the guns he used in his duel w/ Eacker were his uncles ( not in the musical btw ).
On some sources tells that there was a half hair trigger meaning it shot earlier and when someone asked Hamilton is he going to use it he said not this time
OMG I just noticed something incredible. During his monologue here, Alexander says that he started to write some lyrics for a song someone will sing for him. What if this whole musical is Aaron Burr continuing that song?! That would explain why he of all people is that narrator.

Isn't it sad how Burr straight up assumes Hamilton will kill him while Hamilton doesn't think Burr will hurt him. Hamilton died thinking Burr wouldn't shoot, but Burr was bracing for a kill or get killed fight. If only Burr knew...
Did Hamilton really think his enemy wouldn't shoot him?
@@cryptidcreates9942 I think yes, he shot above Burr and Burr interpreted it as aiming at him so he fired back a split second later. Only difference is that Burr actually aimed at Hamilton.
@@cryptidcreates9942 It wasn't in Burr's political interest to kill Hamilton.
LittleWither Gaming OH MY.

According to a deleted lyric, the whole duel was actually planned. Hamilton wrote two letters explaining what he was about to do, and how he was going to do it. Hamilton’s glasses were also explained, he was wanting them on to see if Burr was softening, but saw instead that he was full on glaring at him. Instead of playing through Burr’s POV through most of the song, it goes through Burr’s POV, then Hamilton’s.
Only in the song of the duel he says he doesn’t expect Burr to shoot and even says at number 9 “I can’t wait to see my Eliza again” I think the letter was in case he DID die.
I didn’t really like the original lyrics for it, it was good but the No beat no melody, fits better

PikleMyNikel Historians have argued about this but like come on he basically provoked burr with the glasses, either that or he took the same advice he gave his son because he saw the spot his son died

_ that’s just sad and IT PROVES THAT THEY HAD A RELATIONSHIP
Though this play came out in 2015, a detail I just noticed is during Hamilton's final moments, when he's talking about being remembered, he recites the motifs of everyone who ever gave him a chance.
"Rise up" - Representing Laurens, Lafayette, Milligan, and Burr
"Teach me how to say goodbye" - Representing Washington
"Eliza" - An ode to the woman who gave him a second chance
"Raise a glass to freedom" - A direct representation of Laurens
If intentional, it was absolutely genius on LMM's part, because it represents how much Hamilton has changed since we first started following him at the beginning of the play.

I always love the way Leslie Odom Jr. sings “if not to take deadly aim” and “then count!” on the album recording. The volume communicates exactly how revenge-crazy Burr is in this moment. Then after the silence section of the number, he screams “wait!” but not in anger but desperation and regret.
I absolutely hate that ending it always brings me to tears. While Burrs saying his final lines he turns around to see who wants to speak to him and it flashes back to their first meeting, the beginning of a long friendship. Now because of Burrs didn't to wait for it, and back to reality, there's no one there.
Furthermore, if you look closer at the moment it flashes back to when they first met, Alexander is smiling. It's bright and joyous. He's young and pleased to meet Burr. Happy to be in his company.
But then it flashes back to reality. Alexander's gone. He's a ghost now. A ghost who haunts Burr to no end. Alex is sad. The smile on his face has disappeared. It's cold and dark. He's older and in tears, in disbelief he has to meet Burr to duel. Burr's company no longer brings him joy.
They see each other as enemies. There's too much pain there. Too much resentment. Too many tears shed. Too much suffering and barbed words spoken, such that they can't fix their relationship and make peace with one another.
Alexander's ghost vanishes. Burr looks on.
And there's nothing left but silence.
I kinda find it sad how burr thinks he can stop the bullet by yelling WAIT!
like he instantly regrets his choice and wants a second chance. His distressed voice is what made me cry, same in dear theodosia reprise.

Like imagine helping a woman divorce the dude who killed your dad, thats awkward
@@kayeaok
One correction. Alex Jr. was the 3rd child. He is however the 2nd son.
Before I watched hamilton: What's all the hype about? It's just another musical

Burr: shoots hamilton
Burr: _"why would death do this"_
You know, it kind of looks like your profile pic is scared of your name, which I find hilarious
C Day omg it does 😂
Fun fact, Burr never actually meant to kill Hamilton. He meant to hit him in the shoulder, so that he wouldn't die. He tells the soldiers that he has terrible aim, and sure enough he misses and hits in-between his ribs. So technically speaking, Hamilton's death was an accident. Burr still blames himself, but he never meant for him to die. Thus "death doesn't discriminate, between the sinners and the saints, it takes and it takes and it takes." Because Hamilton really did nothing wrong to Burr, and even if it was an accident, death doesn't care. It will take and take and take.
(I'm a loser eeee-)
Burr actually intended to only hit Hamilton in his shoulder. Burr said that he had a terrible shot/aim. He never intended to hit Hamilton right in between his rib cage, thus causing his passing.
Um- he said he was a terrible shot.. that was foreshadowing the fact the he didn’t mean to hit him in the ribs.. he was aiming for his shoulder
1:50 does anyone else realise that it takes a moment for him to call Burr his enemy but only after he thinks of him first as a friend lol it’s prob nothing but just a thought :)
I DONT KNOW WHY BUT AT 3:45 THE LINE “somebody tells me ‘you’d better hide’” GETS ME EVERY TIME PLEASE IT CANT JUST BE ME

Hamilton’s commitment to his ideal of “aim up, if you’re opponents a real man he’ll do the same” is so powerful, that even after his son got shot and died this way, he still does it, even knowing there’s a chance he might make it out(the line of him running) he stay and points up
How I've always seen this song:
Burr was finally overtaken by his emotions. He was usually calm, cool and thought everything through, but he was so blinded by rage he didn't think of the consequences. On the day of the duel, he realised that he could die, so he was terrified on top of the anger. When Hamilton put on his glasses because he wanted to be able to see if burr was softening, he misunderstood that as Hamilton wanting to aim precisely in order to kill him.
Until he got home and heard the people crying, he didn't process the fact he'd killed someone. Instead of knowing everything that could possibly happen, he only knew what the consequences of his actions were when they happened. He was spinning out of control of his own life.
Couldn't have said it better myself. 😭
Eliza: look Alexander his first words

the whole Musical is beyond poetic. this scene went against what the two said they’d do. Hamilton would never throw away his shot. Burr would wait for it. got damn. i love this Musical sm🤧

Damn bro lmao
Pretty much
@@antonioball8119 not only that, like with this line with glasses. He thought they both will shot, and Hamilton just took it, not even trying to fight back. Like, in ,,best" scenario, they will both die, or maybe really no one will. Anyway, normally it is ,,the better one win/survive",and there Hamilton just give up, Burr doesn't exepct that...
Burr decided to not *wait for it* any longer.
Hamilton decided he need to *talk less, smile more* , follow Burr's lead.

I don't think Sobs In A Corner is something Aaron said.
It took me several listens to notice just how blood-curdling Leslie's delivery of "WAIT!" is, that is a cry from the guts if I've ever seen one
4:51 I... I keep re-watching this moment and new tears come every time. Burr can't help but remember the innocent, excitable man with a spark of passion in his eyes, who chose him to be his first friend in a new and scary world. And can't believe that he's the reason that spark will never shine again. and it's just... heartbreaking

The anguish in his voice made me ugly sob
Next to Eliza, Burr is probably one of the most tragic characters in Hamilton. His parents died at a young age, leaving him an orphan, and as he tried to rise up, Hamilton immediately stole the spotlight. Burr endured years of Hamilton enjoying success while he suffered, his life completely out of his own control. Then, as he tried to have something in his life worth living for, Theodosia, she died in 1794. Burr has relatively little political success, and only becomes Vice President to then lose it. He kills Alexander and then immediately has to live with that guilt forever, evading the authorities and then losing his only daughter Theodosia in 1813. Burr died in obscurity, only ever painted as the villain who murdered Alexander Hamilton.
Damn
Burr didn't loose his position as Vice President, although he never showed his face in public after killing Alexander
He went on record saying multiple different versions: Hamilton shot first, Burr shot first, He regretted it and that if he wasn’t impaired by fog he would have shot him in the heart. As Burr was the only man who saw it (all others turned their backs so as to have a defense in court as dueling was illegal) we can never be sure of the true events. We do know Hamilton fired his shot but it flew over Burrs head meaning within the rules of dueling Burr was allowed to shoot to kill. We can’t be sure if Hamilton intentionally threw his shot but he did say he would in letters to others so it is probable it was an intentional miss. Burr didn’t know this at the duel. It’s a really interesting bit of history
never thought abt it that way ;w; poor Burr
lol how ironic... only in this one instance, this terrible instance, did Burr get his wish of Being the only one in the room where it happened. Jeeez this musical is amazing on so many different levels.
1:42 amazing internal monologue!
When Burr yelled wait and knew that he had messed up, he knew that what he did was something he couldn't undo. Many of us make that mistake. I do all the time at least
Stop dueling then, good God. Not even in Jersey.
You make that mistake 😨
burr: hAmIltOn wAs wEArIng hIs glAssEs, whY If nOt tO tAkE dEAdly AIm
me: or you know, the man can't see without them.
yeah, i've almost run into things three feet in front of me without glasses on
But why would he NEED to see clearly, if he never had any intention of shooting Burr (instead firing blindly into the air)?
Burr: why would you have to see during a duel unless to take deadly aim
He means "sniper glasses" which were the early equivalent of scopes.
In the workshop version of this song, ten things one thing, Hamilton said
‘Put on my glasses so I can see if burr is softening,
I see him glaring back at me,
He’s always hated duelling, hated confrontation,
I never had his instinct for self preservation.
I feel a sense of calm fill me,
*its not in his political interests to kill me* ‘
In that version, what makes it sad is that Hamilton *trusted burr* not to shoot. The final line he had in the workshop version is
‘My last thought is of Eliza,
Maybe I can get back home before she opens her eyes!
They put us through our paces, we count to ten,
God,
I can’t wait to see Her again!’
He thought he would make it back and live happily.
Ok I have so many things to say:
1 Hamilton got shot on my birthday
2 that “wait” burr said broke my heart
3 burr your not the villain in my history
Edit: Ok so everyone’s saying that burr actually was the villain in history... so I take back the last part
Oona._. Blah omg
When is your birthday?
Channel not used until Article 13 is gone idk man maybe look up the day Hamilton got shot?
*you're
Burr is actually the villain though. He may have been a deep character in the musical, but he was a psycho irl. After this, he goes off and tries to become President a few more times and he fails. Then he tries to buy his own plot of land and become President of his own country.
The “WAIT” broke me harder than if someone literally broke me
I thought he said "America you simp for me" at 2:28
Omg 😂
Ok, a lot of ppl asked me this. Aiming his pistol at the sky in a duel means giving up with honor. So it's murder when you shot the person who gave up.
Jasmin McPines well that makes more sense ;---;
Hamilton didn’t think Burr would shoot, because Burr thinks fuels are stupid. So he aims at the sky.
Burr thought Hamilton would shoot, because be honest he probably would. So Burr shoot.
They both thought things about the others, and that’s why Hamilton died.
At least that’s my theory
It's the fact that not only did Hamilton have his glasses on, But he was acting odd the day of the fight, he was being weird, Burr didn't understand why. It's really unknown what was happening in Hamiltons mind that day, Some of it could potentially be from the fact that Philip died like what? Two years previously in the same place. Burr didn't Want to entirely Kill Hamilton, he didn't realize how big a role Hamilton played in his life with him constantly saying " Mr. Burr, Sir." And always objecting to everything, but he was angry that Hamilton did everything in his power to ruin him. Burr was. . . Angry at Hamilton because to an extent, Alexander had Everything Burr Ever wanted.. Everything Burr tried SO Hard To get.
In New Jersey and New York, the state the duel took place in and where Hamilton died, respectively, dueling was an illegal practice and since Hamilton died at the hands of Burr, he was open to murder charges.
Oh that's sad ;-;
Burr's life went downward after he killed Alexander; the duel ended his political career, his actions were scrutinized and a scandal over the evidence of him being a traitor (something we still can't prove), he lost his money and so many of his friends, forcing him into exile in Europe. Theodosia was the only one comfort but she would disappear at sea, trying to reunite with him after his exile. He married a second time, but his debts were draining his new wife's fortune since it was she who was paying for them, not him. So she went to Alexander's son, Alexander Jr., now a lawyer, to divorce him. There's no proof, but no one would blame Alex if he was harsh on Burr during that time, even after 30 years since his father's died because he was only 18 and already lost his brother to similar circumstances. But the divorce, enforced by the son of the man he killed, was the last straw that broke Burr's health, leading to the stroke that would killed him. There's no doubt that at the end of his life, Burr realized he and Alexander didn't have to have that duel.
I think he only made he comment “The world was wide enough for Hamilton and me” was because he didn’t feel bad for killing him, just didn’t realize the consequences of murdering a founding father.
Poor theodasia
In the words of Thomas Jefferson in this musical "My God"
Get pranked, Burr
.....oh god
I cannot stop crying, the “raise a glass to freedom..” and the “WAIT!” Got me...
The line
"The lord in his kindness he gives me what you always wanted he give me more time"
Means that Alex always wanted Eliza to have more time
"I was too young and blind to see"
*boy you were 48*
Metaphors are great ya know
