That girl is tough as nails. What a champ! I hope they figure out something to get the seizures to stop. I can't imagine how hard it'd be living like that.
I’m an epileptic and seeing other epileptics happy like this makes me so happy. Having seizures non stop is a whole different kind of pain, mentally and physically. This really gave me some hope.
Kay, are you saying that you have seizures non-stop? That's known as status epilepticus. I doubt that your seizures are non-stop or you would likely have died from it. From what I understand that status epilepticus which has not been stopped with medication can very likely become fatal. Going into status epilepticus is definitely considered potentially fatal.
I don't know why this is any different, I'm a PICU nurse and have seen many kids seize and usually, they're all casual about it too. It's just funny to see her out in a nonclinical setting all sacked out on the ground doing her thing, then self resolves, and moves forward! We humans can be pretty funny sometimes :)
This brought me to tears. I’m epileptic and I know how painful it is to just have one seizure. I can’t imagine what she’s going through to have multiple seizures in one day and the fact that she is very positive is such an inspiration.
They are casual about it because it happens so often, and they know the procedures to help with a seizure (as in get them in the right position so they don't hurt themselves) Trust me, I go through it
What a beautiful soul. This is exactly how I look at my epilepsy diagnosis. I don't let it get in the way of living my life normally, following all my dreams, passions and goals. I also love being athletic, I feel it helps me feel free and happy. My seizures apparently look like the ones she has when she is shaking. But I have always had mine while I was sleeping, so i have no memory of them, just feeling a bit drunk afterwards. I was told by my neurologist that my seizures can also happen anywhere at anytime... I've just been lucky so far that they haven't and that I am responding well to medication.
It's inspiring to see people like her facing life with so much optimism. It makes you realise that it's all about your mindset, no matter what struggles you are facing, you can still go on, you can still strive for what you want. No matter what life throws at you, you should always get up and continue running forward. Never put it in your mind that you can't, don't let struggles thrown your way weigh you down, fight for what you want, and the end result will leave you accomplished.
Joey Baseball Precisely, you can see the effort she put in to be where she is right now and it can serve as a motovation for other people. But it's okay, there are always going to be people like you who keep being pessimistic about comments like mine instead of taking the good out of it.
You do get used to pretty much anything, really. This is a bit of a weird comparison, but I'm still going to make it; I worked at a clinic for people with an intellectual level of about 2-8 years old. Down syndrome, oxygen lack at birth, stuff like that. At first you'll find it really hard to see them as normal people, but you get used to anything they do and you start to know and like their personalities. At some point I found myself not being shocked by finding them masturbating on a chair during a group talk or to find two of them having gay sex somewhere in a storage room. I'd just tell them it was time for lunch, or whatever time it was. It's human behaviour, these people just don't know what's appropriate but really, what's appropriate anyway? So responding this laconic to a seizure makes sense to me. Also I think it's easiest for Katie, she can just get up and carry on.

A true inspiration. Thank you for being brave enough to show you having a seizure. Really helps people who have seizures not to feel embarrassed about it. Someone can reassure a person there is nothing to feel ashamed about, but you are breaking the barriers, and showing other epileptics that it really is ok. Thank you. And wish you every success with your running.

As a runner who also has seizures this video is so relatable - which is not something that I find often. Thanks for posting this, and thanks for having a mindset of not allowing seizures to define you. The most common mindset is, you have seizures and that's who you are. I love that you're refusing to allow that to be the case. Run on!
I've been having seizures ever since I was about 8 years old now I am 43 and my doctor says I probably will not get over him and I cried at the doctor's office but I know I'm here in the spirit cuz I think it's a spiritual battle but I'm going to press on and you keep on and I'm so grateful and thankful and you keep on showing and proving other people wrong cuz I'm going to keep on and proving other people wrong as well
Some of this was filmed right across the road from me and I often see her running when I’m out walking and I always smile when I see her because I think she’s so strong to keep running even when all the odds are against her 😊
Katie you are an inspiration to all of us 'normal' people. You are amazing . Katie your spirit alone put a giant smile on my face. I can't complain about anything when I see you smile and what incredible acceptance you have. :) 'I'll be fine' . You are a rock star in my book Katie :)).

I suffered of epilepsy for so many years, in the beggining it was a chronic level of epilepsy and later it went soft, and i understand Katie's situation, i know how frustrated makes you feel after the seizures, i'm from southamerica Lima-Perú, and in my case, fitness training helped me a lot, together with the medications i got, and today it's totally different i don't have seizures in 3 years, but i still go to my neurologist appointments, now i take a very small amount of medication, and my life it's way more healthy and i appreciate Katie's video in order to show that nothing can't stop you from what you love to do and i know Katie will get rid of this little by little just like i'm doing, my respect to this brave young woman!!!! Lots of love, and keep on running!!!!
As someone with epilepsy seizures aren't actually painful. Here and there you might have a small headache for 30 seconds, but that's not after every seizure, and it barely hurts. It's very easy to get up afterwards. In fact we get up and can just go on with our day like nothing ever happened.

Thanks for posting this, and thanks for having a mindset of not allowing seizures to define you. The most common mindset is, you have seizures and that's who you are. I love that you're refusing to allow that to be the case. Run on!
Go girl!!! Don't let anyone or anything stop you!!! :)
Wow I have epilepsy and i feel better knowing that there are peaple like me can live a normal.
Don’t let It get you down.
Yeah be positive
I've had seizures since I was 17, and I do gymnastics and Trampolining, in fact, I do more now than I did before they started lol.
there are people like me that can live a normal
I'm so inspired by this girl and when I saw her had a seizure I was filled with Emotions. I had epilepsy and my mom said it was the worst feeling in the world. I no longer have epilepsy, I had a surgery. She is such an idol and an icon for everyone especially epileptic people. She shows the world that there is no limit for greatness.
For some reason, I thought this was Simone Giertz. Looks like her a lot.
David Boucard i just wrote the same comment. maybe she is related to katie. she has the same exact eyebrows shape, nose, etc.
David Boucard I thought it's her too!
David Boucard mee to

Rip Cameron Boyce who passed away in his sleep due to the same condition 🙏

One of the most inspirational individuals I've ever seen.
I was newly diagnosed with Epilepsy and have Absence Seizures almost daily

I wouldn't record someone who is having a seizure
maybe she is the one who wanted to record it
Thats sad
think she is ok with it
@@lyriccommenter5292 no it's not, at least she is brave enough to comfront it
Its my opinion i won't record someone who is having a seizure
what a fantastic story and great relationship between doctor and patient as running partner too - you look so fierce running Katie you can see how much you love it and how good you are at it and you a great role model for kids who have been diagnosed with epilepsy that you can live your life and still do the things you love
She comes back from a seizure like: “yea I’m ok” like wow
I hope she’s still
Okay...she doesn’t
deserve this,she is just
beautiful ^^
She doesn't deserve this, exactly. She deserves to go on a ketogenic diet and treat her seizures properly.
Ștefan Cosma yeah,i also have seizures but im glad its really weak and not that dangerous ^_^ it only happens to my leg tho so its fine
@@lumineaether1494 Have you tried the keto diet? It would be the most effective way to eliminate your seizures 😊
@ no it wouldn't
@@sethbennett3278 How do you know?
O god this is scary my 2 year old had a seizure after a high fever and it is so unbelievably difficult to see your baby so helpless and me as a dad felt my heart crushed into a million pieces ... I give this girl major props for fighting and not giving up !!! Shes a bad ass in my book !!!
Lovely girl
Horrible epilepsy
I have epilepsy and let me tell you it's not fun. I go all numb, I feel like I can not breath.
It was caused by my hemiplegia from when I was born and I basically was about to die.
The reason I am telling you this is just to say to the girl
You are not alone
Old Childhood Yes she does, and you are.. I do have some kind of the epilepsy thing.. And I just can't imagine how she could bear the seizure while she running. In fact she continue her running! Oh gosh.. What a girl.. It motivates me to cope my disease.. God bless you.. Both of you Old Childhood and Katie 🙂🙂

Yeah I have epilepsy and a friend of mine has epilepsy too. It's super common.

All of you people with epilepsy, please eat a ketogenic diet, it will help tremendously!
causally has a seizure: “im fine”
So strong a girl. I'm very proud of her.

Yeah, it's scary. No joke. But it's normal if you see this help them. They need it 😀
dank A lol
During my last seizure, they had to pad the hospital bed. Once, they even strapped me in. Tonic Clonic Seizures can be violent for many of us.

helmet?
Knoar wouldn't be bad investment TBH.
I hear the thing soldiers complain more in training are the fucking helmets. They really tire you.
Don't know why but your comment made me chuckle.
I can remember seeing a small girl with epilepsy wearing a helmet. I was like , "Huh, my brother still has epilepsy and he never had a helmet!" But clever idea!
Rey Lawrence though I believe that when theu say "helmets" tbey MIGHT meam what I got when my grand mals started appearing: basically a cap lined with cushions. Not the most comfortable, but did the trick.
TOO BAD THE FUCKING SEIZURES NEVER CAME WHILE I WAS WEARING IT!
She is so awesome I wish her the best❤

i support you, been having troubles because of this sickness yet i still try to hoop. You give me hope to not give up thxx
How can u just stand up after having a seizure?
@You Nub Are you fr?
cause MAYBE she is used to or her seizure are not that painfull
@oh oh wow sad you edited it
@oh oh I honeslty don't remember tbh. I have a bad memory after I hit my head when I had a seizure.
As someone with epilepsy seizures aren't actually painful. Here and there you might have a small headache for 30 seconds, but that's not after every seizure, and it barely hurts.
It's very easy to get up afterwards. In fact we get up and can just go on with our day like nothing ever happened.
She is beautiful
Binifa pafs so are you
Myles Porter thank you 😊
Binifa pafs no problem 😊😏I’m myles nice to meet you

Katie you made me cry with your strength! I myself struggle with grand mal seizures and i LOVE your confidence. More people like you need to post videos to help us epileptics to find hope. much love to you girl!!
True. Epilepsy is not end of world. Health complications and big social stigma and worried families but i learnt that let's not Block our mind with one thing. Famous personalities have seizure.

I am here to help. If she were on a ketogenic diet, her seizures would go way down, potentially even stop completely after a few months.
This poor girl but even so she’s truely inspirational from the fact that her life may be hard yet she still does what she loves, that’s just amazing
Awww her doctor is my boyfriend's dad!!! Such an amazing and empowering family!!
If this is true , creeps on the internet can easily find info on you based on this , be careful what you say kid !
I have epilepsy and I mostly have blackouts. I still love all sports like running.
What do you eat? You need to get on a ketogenic diet.
Ștefan Cosma we’ve tried everything. I eat like a normal kid now. I don’t mind them to much.
@@animalloverforever6559 No man, you have to try a keto diet to cure your epilepsy..

If I was with this girl, I’d support her so much. She’s so strong and taking this condition really well!
This reminds me of someone who I know who has seizures at my school she has many at school but she’s a tough cookie
And stays strong
#epilepsy
I like how she fell down and starts to breakdances, then stands up and say shes fine
She is one of the most lovely gals I've ever seen, a huge example of a strong human being. My biggest passion is to draw and I suffer from really bad hand tremors related to young onset Parkinson's, it was tough to give up my dream, but she didn't. She's a hero disguised between normal people.
My father has epilepsy and recently he got different medicine. The ones he was taking before would raise his blood pressure sometimes but we are getting through it. Thankfully, he doesn’t have this worse if epilepsy but if he doesn’t have his medicine, he will have a seizure and perhaps die.
Abby1knobie _BM I hope the medicine works! Best wishes for your dad.
how does she have a seizure then stand up and brush it off like nothing happened?! wow
