9 years later and this is still one his absolute best songs. Only Blinding Lights really reaches the same level of extravagant atmosphere. I feel like I could be listening to this while cruising Night City, Shadowrun's Seattle, or Blade Runner's LA. Kavinsky and The Weeknd made an absolute masterpiece dripping with personality. Dark, driving, and almost malevolent with lyrics overflowing with confidence and sleaze. It paints the picture of a nightlife that is equal parts thrilling as it is dangerous.
i feel like most of kiss land matches the atmosphere you're describing even though it's not synthwave, i mean it literally has a song whose title references blade runner. also faith or after hours 100% fit that too
