  • What is the New Testament? Who wrote the New Testament books and what does the term ""New Testament"" mean? In this video, we'll walk through the history of the New Testament and provide a full explanation of it.
    Excerpt:
We will begin with some terminology. When we talk about a """"testament"""", what are we talking about? The word """"testament"""" refers to a legal expression of a party's will regarding the distribution of their goods. Today some people speak of leaving a """"last will and testament"""" after their death, instructing people in how to distribute people possessions. In the case of the two sections of the Bible, we could say that referring to these writings as """"testaments"""" speaks about how they express God's will for humanity.

Who compiled the collection of "writings" and formed the Bible as we have it today?
We're there some "writings" left out of the Bible and why?

We will get to those questions soon. Every church had its own authority to compile the books it found befitting as canonical.

@@lonniestoute8762 Yes, the decisions of the Council of Rome in 4th century ( 382AD) ratified again at the council of Hippo in 393, and the Third Council of Carthage in 397. Jerome was a Catholic saint & scholar. In 382 he reached Rome to attend the council and remained there as secretary to Pope Damasus. Jerome’s Latin translation of Scripture known as the Vulgate consists of these 73 books and it is the latin Official text of the bible.

1:59,that is pointing to the millennial kingdom ,not the covenant of Jesus that is right now. God is talking through Jeremiah that He will reunite the House of Israel and of course those who are attached to it.
