If you got Sam's club. Buy the oven cleaner package, plastic bottles. 3pk, just 1 works. Spray it, 15- 20 mintues later, powerwash it off...pristine. And the 3pk cost about as much of 1 pb blaster. It'll even take the rust pretty much off.
Honestly when we painted my truck, I had an old friend with 30+ years experience too. He taught me everything he knows, and in my opinion, the hardest part of painting is the prep, and the masking… lots of masking 😅
Great work man, wish my engine bay didn't have a radiator support when I painted it lol. That said, you really should start wearing a respirator when sanding, wire brushing and degreasing. I started doing it a few years ago during my restoration and it makes a difference; all the stuff you're breathing in is bad news. Life is more than just cars, so don't wreck your health when you're young. Yes, I've done the same thing myself.
Dude, that paint job looks absolutely sick. I've been wanting to spray my 77 for a while now, I need to get a paint gun and start practicing. I've always thougth that the base coat - clear coat paint jobs looked way better. Can't wait to see the next video for the progress.
For something like that, if you prep it just like you did, do a primer, a few base coats, and a few layers of clear, all with a rattle can, it’ll turn out just the same. All about the prep.
I think since you got the same grill inserts for the crew cab to match mater, you should paint the suspension the same as maters as well. It would be sweet to have them match like that
The groove in that drum is the factory wear indicator to let you know when the drums are not serviceable anymore. I machined some rotors off a 73 Mach 1 mustang that had that same groove in them
If you ever get out near the Tennessee / Georgia area on Power Tour or whatever, might be worth your time to go meet up with SleeperDude. He's a big time Ford fan like you.
Didn't this all start out with fixing a oil leak? While we are here . Lol. I don't know how many times that while I'm here , has snowballed like this! Great video.
You can buy a set of “ford master keys” ford just like every other brand used 5-10 different cuts for their ignition/doors so you can match the set and have them cut for the original.
Yes that is a needle scaler and they are also great for cleaning up post weld and the help to stress relieve the weld and weld zone a bit like shot peening
I got my crew cab dually running again, the 7.3 idi turbo definitely needs some work but it’s got good progress done and I’m in the truck super cheap. Technically made money off of it by repurposing the old battery and selling the original bottom end of the motor after I swapped in a turbo idi. The og motor blew head gaskets and damaged the heads and I ended up finding a complete motor for it.
Just doing the oil pan NOTHING ELSE…. Then infamous car guy line “well while we’re here” you got fresh paint & all new everything going back in. 😂😂 That same line got me a whole new powder coated front suspension with new everything & its at the body shop right now 😂🤣😈
Its gonna look great,no doubt how about hammered gray or even a boat engine blue for suspension colors that way its differant from other truck but just as unigue!!!snookie pa.😊😊
Craig, do you ever get concerned some of your sprays, old contaminants along with hot sparks will land on those shiny vehicles next to you in the garage? Not to be critical, but your side of the garage is starting to look grungy dirty whereas the other business keeps his side nice and clean.
Wonder how long that paints gonna last since you painted over straight metal and rust. No primer or nothing dam I guess the truck I just did will last longer 😂 looks good though nice work
Lmfao you’ve obviously never worked in an auto body shop then because most of those guys have to get yelled at by their boss before they put on a respirator. It’s same with when I was a logger a lot of the guys I worked with didn’t ever wear ear or eye protection and as a result they were effectively deaf by like 35.
"we are just doing the oil pan" Never fails, Love too see the amazing work my man.
Seeing Craig grow as a builder and as a UA-camr is awesome to watch. This is one of the best automotive channels on the site.
A hammered steel look would set off the suspension nicely.
I painted my '64.5 Mustang engine bay with the black "Hammered Metal" spray paint. It turned out very nice and, durable.

The way he cracks the nut on the brake line in the first take just comfortably lands perfect with the tune playing, so satisfying..❤❤
That truck has had a huge transformation, very cool.
The welding job on that truck is absolutely incredible. That kid does a great job
While your there a 4wd conversion would be cool. Awesome video anyway.
I think a candy apple or wine red would look killer it would match the 2 tone perfectly and it would pop especially with the lift
Hammerfinish gray on the suspension bits.
thank you for inspiring me to build my 72 f100.
been watching for a while, amazing job man
Looks awesome Craig, can’t wait to see the engine painted up!
Looks Great 👍 Craig. Truck is coming together.
RV Cam for engine. It will have alot more power 🔋 💪
Just finished the brakes on my 68 F250 Camper Special. Came home and got to watch the man himself. Best way to end the day. Looks killer!!

Thank you for helping us with our Comet Build. 😁
Do a bright purple for the suspension parts. So people have to bend down and look that some of the best parts are also under the truck too!

When you paint the front beams and stuff you should paint it to match the body color
Nice work! Do the twin I beams in dark sliver with black veins!
Whats the green stuff he was using at 9:09 to clean the frame ?
The toughest, strongest penetration most cost effective engine degreaser I've used is hands down easy off oven cleaner from dollar general store
Highly recommend husky socket holders. They come non magnetic or magnetic. Similar alternatives are available too on ebay and amazon.
I figured you'd get wild once the engine was out! I'd consider doing the suspension in a red that matches the truck's original color!
Again Dave with the Moto XXX shirt this man is a legend!
Great job guys!🏴☠️
pretty extensive oil pan repair, might as well while we are down here!
Paint the suspension gold like the valve covers in the 71
needler cleaning is next level satisfying
The groove in that drum is the factory wear indicator to let you know when the drums are not serviceable anymore. I machined some rotors off a 73 Mach 1 mustang that had that same groove in them
Good question, any thoughts of continuing on painting Chases, and under side of Cab?
Thanks Craig :)
Maybe you should have got Dave to paint the Galaxie.? And what's happened to Megan.? She seems to have disappeared.

I like that Harbor Freight Tool I also want to give that PB Blaster cleaner a try keep working on them Ford trucks
Seems like getting a bead blaster would help you save a tone of time!
Didn't this all start out with fixing a oil leak? While we are here . Lol. I don't know how many times that while I'm here , has snowballed like this! Great video.
I hope you have an episode dedicated to making the Volvo power steering pump work.
Looks great!
Do the cast iron paint look on the suspension
Probably my favorite truck on the channel
Love The MotoXXX representative 😎
Awesomeness 🇬🇧🫶🧐🇬🇧🫶🧐🇬🇧🫶🧐👍
Good looking job and it really makes a difference in the look😁👍👍
You should do the suspension in gold or
Bronze
Looks good, bud! 🤙🏽🤙🏽

Might as well - do the rest of the frame while you’re at it…….🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes that is a needle scaler and they are also great for cleaning up post weld and the help to stress relieve the weld and weld zone a bit like shot peening
Awsome looking, but will it stand the test of Time?

Rock on love it
You’re doing a frame off. Quit trying to deny it!!! LOL
Wonder how long that paints gonna last since you painted over straight metal and rust. No primer or nothing dam I guess the truck I just did will last longer 😂 looks good though nice work
Paint the I beams to match the f100
YUH
Try to match the red on the body for the suspension! 👌🏼
Do you plan on doing a frame off on this truck?
New T-shirt design is at 13:34 😂
Needler is also very loud! Ask me how I know
Match the red in the suspension components
I just sat up from running new brake lines on my 76 f250
Lets fucking gooo
Looks great. But to be really sure, Craig, could strip off of the work you just did and do it again in rattle can for a compare and contrast? Lol.
Hammertone green metallic
First comment let's gooooo
Do silver on the i beams
May I ask what camper shell is on it?
I got a press if you want it. Been in storage for 7 years.

I have a press in storage if you want it. I will deliver.
Just a reseal lol 😂
"While we're in here we may as well ... "
My Uncle says “Why not… while we are in there…”
Not wearing a breather while grinding all that rust is wild 🤢

@@Gigachadly yeah I have 😂 that's why I said that 🤦♂️
Base coat on bare metal? No primer? Isn’t that just gonna fall off in about a month?
Whatever happened to the crown Vic chasis he biult
Same place the Galaxies are.
They fell into a roving black hole and were swallowed up.
Please pin this also Galaxy update?😮
Tell me about it I bought 4 cans of sem plastic paint at it was almost a hundred bucks
Craig, I have an ignition switch with a key out of a 67 f100 I’ll ship it to you for free. Let me know if you want it
While you’re in there….
SEEMS LIKE A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. MAYBE LEARN HOW TO BUILD AN ENGINE?
Who says you can’t shine shit
Clean? But rusty under the paint.
Maroon metallic paint the suspension to match the crew cab
Easy to do my butt. If you dont have paint tools and help its NOT worth doing that.
Paint the suspension the same red as the body
12v Cummins swap
