A herniated disc happens when the inner disc material, called the nucleus, seeps through the tough outer wall of the disc. It becomes symptomatic when it comes into contact with surrounding nerves causing pain and other herniated disc symptoms to be felt locally and along the nerves path.
In a healthy disc you can notice that the outer wall is thick and tough. As disc degeneration starts to set in, this wall will start to thin and dry out allowing for the possibility of cracks or tears. Once a tear or a crack occurs the disc can herniate as the inner materials come through and places pressure on surrounding structures.

What about arm numbness or is it carpal tunnel syndrome? I believe I've got both just wondering my 3 outer toes and 3 outer fingers (away from thumbs and big toes) goes numb untill i stretch them back to circulation

Yes lots of lower back stretches, they really helped me. Do them every day and in 2 weeks you’ll notice a difference and avoid bending over to much

Iam a student nurse and fr the past 3weeks did my practicals in the maternity ward...the bending when suturing the patients after an episiotomy or perineal tear must have caused this lower backache in me...I guess I need to see a doctor the pain is now unbearable.

So should I just do surgery ? Doctor said inhave a huge herniated disk but my pain decreased fairly enough. What should I do ? 🫠

I have a herniated disk that didn't cause me problems but now I'm stuck in bed and unable to stand up with large amounts of pain so I'm assuming I have a really bad herniated disk now
