After playing around for about three matches, failing the first two and finally making it out alive on the third. I've already learned the info you preach in this video, the hard way. BUT! The thing that makes this video so great is the personality you've added to it, the small comments like "How rude" and such are a great change of pace from all other "Fill this video with 100% information"-creators.

Haha, Literally the same thing here. Bought the game two days ago, died twice. Yesterday we finished the very first expedition.
Also Agree with this commentary too, Kamahkaza earned another sub today 💯🔥

Butcher's Bridge Theme is so good in the background at the beginning, never gets old... Thank you for the guide. Playing solo with bots ain't an easy task 4 me, i can't seem to know what to give them essentially as for guns and tools.

In a matter of two failed missions, under 2.7 hours of in game time, and later finding this video post requesting a refund of the game; I have learned that this game is definitely not for me. I pray for all my fellow prisoners to keep their blood pressure in check and are able to have much more fun (and sanity) than me.

Friends and I went down on the community recommended R7A1 as the first mission. Nearly beat it. We finally got a fourth friend for R7B1 (recommended next rundown) and we've had two play sessions and still can't get past the final security checkpoint. I think my friends hate it, but it's growing on me.

    • @slendimano
      @slendimano 29 днів тому

foor future reference, nowadays the recommendation would probs be R6A1, which is basically the same thing but without story u dont understand shoved in ur face
one can also play in order and just skip to the next rundown when stuck but admittedly r1a1 is a little harder

I know it's way too late after the video release but I bought gtfo and already have around 260 hrs on it, and coming from a FPS background I think this game is just so dang difficult, or is it just me?
I'm bearly on the R1 level trying to look for the PID'S. I've spent the majority of the time on the Reactor level.
I know new games can be challenging but is the a way to better understand the rules or laws of this game?
I'll play it till I'm done but can anyone make it less punishing?

There’s a lot of factors that makes this game difficult, so to answer your question you should ask yourself these questions:
      1. Are you playing solo with bots or with at least one other person?
-GTFO is rough with bots, their AIs aren’t the best, so having at least one more player on your team will make it much easier. If you suffer from no friends syndrome like I do, I highly recommend downloading the better bots mod on thunderstore. Modding this game’s pretty easy and there’s no penalty for it, so if you’re really desperate but you got no people to play with, I suggest getting this mod as it greatly improves the AI teammates.
      2. How are you managing your encounters/approaching the game?
-Are you stealthing or constantly breaking stealth? At its core, GTFO is a stealth-based shooter. True, there are some levels where you’re forced to go loud, but there’s always sections where you’re supposed to stealth. The game hinges on this, and breaking stealth too often will cause you to fail, A LOT. Breaking stealth in a zone where you could’ve stealthed means: you’re potentially wasting health, ammo, tool ammo which you could need later on in the level. So if you’re playing this game solely as a horde shooter, you’re going to find yourself constantly out of ammo and drained of all resources.
-If you don’t understand the stealth mechanics of the game (which I don’t blame you, the game doesn’t explain it at all tbh), I suggest you watch this guide by a speed runner named DARKEVA: ua-cam.com/video/I0PP1U_MM74/v-deo.htmlsi=lOuc_uyMPsMwC0TY
-This guide covers all the basics and more advanced/hidden mechanics, it’s great.
      3. Which order are you playing the game in?
-As you might already be able to tell, the game’s difficulty is not based on Rundowns, but on their levels. For example, R1A1 is just as easy as R6A1. The “R” just determines the chapter of the story, but the alphabets (A,B,C,D,E) is what determines the difficulty. Generally speaking:
-A levels are easiest, you can mess up a bunch of times and you’ll be fine. Easily solo able once you’re good at the game.
-B levels are medium in difficulty, a bit tougher and longer than A levels but still relatively doable even solo.
-C levels are hard, often requiring you to understand most of the games mechanics.
-D levels are very hard. Messing up often means swift fails. The game is not afraid to throw the toughest foes at you here.
-E levels are extreme, the pinnacle of difficulty and incredibly unforgiving. These levels test you on your expertise in every aspect of the game: stealth, resource management, aim, quick thinking and wits. Some rundowns don’t even have E levels.
-That said, there’s no shame in skipping a rundown if you’re stuck. If anything, I think A and B levels are a good tutorial on the game’s many mechanics. I personally skipped D and E levels at first because they were too hard for my team haha, we just couldn’t complete them.
      4. Are you learning from your failures?
-When I began this game, I didn’t really think about it. But the more I played, the more I realized information is my best weapon. When I lost a run, I think “Okay, what did I do wrong this time? Did I waste resources where I could’ve saved them? Was my aim terrible causing me to waste ammo? Did I choose the wrong door to hold during the alarm event?”. Learning from your mistakes is crucial to improving at anything really.
-Another great mod here is ALT Checkpoints! This game is kinda terrible at giving checkpoints, and losing a 2 hour run because of a stupid mistake feels terrible, so if you’re okay with modding, this is a must have if you’re struggling IMO. I personally use it as well as me and the boys aren’t very good at shooter games but we enjoy GTFO nonetheless. This mod adds checkpoints in earlier rundowns in almost every level.
-If you’re really stuck at a level, there’s no shame in looking up guides for that specific level. Professor Scaler on UA-cam has a guide for literally every level in the game I think, just search up “GTFO [level name] (ex. R2B2) guide” and his usually appears first. They might seem a little dated, but most of them still have up-to-date information, given the levels haven’t changed since the game’s no longer updating.
      5. Are you working with your team? (If you have a party you play with)
-The game’s tagline is “Work together, or die together.” for a reason. At the end of the day, the game is a cooperative shooter, with a heavy focus on the word cooperative. If one of you is constantly messing up and dragging the team down, then teach them the ropes and lift them up. If your team has no teamwork, there will be no success the deeper you go into the game.
Lastly, don’t get discouraged because the game is hard, but at the same time, don’t feel as if you’re forced to play it either. If it gets too frustrating, take a break and go play something else! After all, a game’s meant to be fun! At the end of the day, all that matters is that you’re having a good time.
Also sorry if this response is incredibly long, but I hope it helped you even a little. I myself only have like 400 hours on the game, but I’ve completed roughly half the rundowns (I’ve finished everything up to R5, I’ve started A-C levels on R6-7 too but haven’t finished the deeper levels)

1:37 It's a playerbase, not a "Community". Never ceases to impress me how willing people have been to adopt this marketing terminology. Suddenly almost 10 years ago now - everyone who consumed a project became part of a "community", yet, there's no mutual care, cooperation, or even interaction between these individuals who are part of this new "community". I'm not in a community with you, and I certainly won't let dumb marketing chimps and google tell me otherwise - just because I bought something that others bought as well.
    Won't be buying this one.
