The letter R in the word "iron" is probably silent because there is another word, "ion," which means "an atom or molecule with a net electric charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons." For example, "hydrogen ions." The pronunciation of the words "iron" and "ion" is different. I guess the letter "r" distinguishes the pronunciation.

Your pronunciation of coupon is the we (in the states) usually say it. However some native speakers pronounce "kew pon" . I have relatives that do that. Thank you for correcting "iron" (tho many of us in the states pronounce it "I earn" And as a native speaker, I must apologize for our diverse spellings rules.

For people whose first language is from South Asia there are two (groups) of consonant sounds VERY difficult to master
V & W - since a lot of the languages there do not have equivalents, only one somewhere in between. V is with the (front of the) mouth tight. W is with ?relaxed lips.
Then there is the nightmare of the various pronunciations of TH. They are among the the most difficult sounds in all languages to learn. It doesn't help that there are (linguistically called) aspirated and unaspirated forms of many consonants in South Asian languages. And, in English there are both voiced and unvoiced forms (whether or not vocal chords are used). THIN is unvoiced, but THINE is voiced. They are quite distinct from T and D (or even Z). In some South Asian languages there are 'soft' and 'hard' variants of T and D, but the English sound is in between (the aspirated versions of) each of these 🙄

Final comment. There are more English speakers in India than many "English-speaking" countries. So, I say that much of their pronunciation is CORRECT, even if different from the USA or UK. What needs to be corrected is the words that are impossible to decipher in another country. I pronounce my name, Mark, differently in India, the USA and the UK in order to not have to repeat myself.
