    This bike is for the smart money. Perfect bike for the street. RS and MOTO2 are for the track or bragging rites. Needs wind protection though cause you get blasted at higher speeds. Also needs a bit larger tank cause you'll spend most of your day in the gas station 😂 Triumph should do a sport tourer option of this bike. That bike would be a big winner.

    I think Triumph have done a good job with the R and the RS. The R is brilliant value, yet the upgrades on the RS really justify the price increase.

      I have the R, agree though, the RS is very good value. I just found the r to be a little more supple on back roads, and realistically didn’t notice any drop in performance. On a track this would be different though, the RS would be better. What a good bike in any guise.

    Shortlisted this lovely bike, together with the Yamaha XSR900, both impressed with their three-cylindre engines. In the end, I purchased the Yamaha, for the sole reason of the dealer that is closer to my home. My advice: We need more Triumph dealers in Germany.

    • @Englishbikerdan

      That makes total sense. Having a dealer nearby is a real world deciding factor. Enjoy the XSR!

      I was initially going to purchase a 2022 XSR900, but availability and absurd dealer fees were a hurdle. Happened upon a deeply discounted, lightly used 2022 Street Triple R and pulled the trigger. No regrets, though I do still prefer the looks of the Yamaha. That blue and gold is lovely.

    • @sguna99
      @sguna99 Рік тому +2

      After testing the XSR and the Street I also went with the Yamaha. I'm not good enough to benefit from the extra nimbleness of the Street and the XSR was more fun; in the end and most of all, at least for me and in the UK, insurance and servicing the Triumph was 50% and 100% more, respectively, than the XSR!

    • @ultimatemassive9501
      @ultimatemassive9501 Рік тому +3

      @sguna99 I can certainly relate as I'm nowhere near competent enough to extract the handling prowess that the STR has over the XSR900, but in my case, I paid at least $3-4k less for my lightly used Triumph (including a 2 year extended warranty) than I would have payed for a new XSR900. Had they been priced the same, I'd have likely gone with the Yamaha. I did test ride an XSR900 and found that the throttle/clutch required more finesse to avoid lurchy engagement, but I suppose you get used to it.

    • @michaelrieser9928
      @michaelrieser9928 Місяць тому

      Yes, I always have to factor in how far I need to travel for service. In the USA the dealers have thinned out. The economy and Americans just don’t ride as much as other countries. The Car is king!
      I’m looking at that xsr 900. I’m impressed and Yamaha gets high marks. Sometimes your Ducati and triumph service and such can be pricey. But this 2023 street triple reminds me of the 2005-2010 speed triple, a cut above the competition.

    In Long: Some may choose the RS for pure emotional reasons (color, the lust to have the best like stylima brakes or if you want the TFT dash). For regular road use, where you spend 95% between 2.000 and 9.000rpm you will notice no difference in the engine. Yes the better brakes you can notice even on road, but to be clear, the M4.32 Brembos are very good and better then what is mounted on most bikes 10-12k price range.

    • @SirMountainpass
      @SirMountainpass Рік тому +1

      Very true - my CP3 pulls like freight train from 2’000 rpm (moving only 182,7 kgs wet) - allowing me to use 4th and 5th even in the twisties and on the mountain passes - no need to solicit max. revs / power most of the time 😎🏁🏁

      @@SirMountainpass I was riding the 2020 XSR900, torque like a diesel car and plenty of power. I also liked the look and the price. Maybe that one would have been better then the Street R I took finally, but it's a close thing between booth. The Street is a little more agile in the bends. Whereas I have to admit, power cruising with a little less lean angle is more to my liking then I thought 2020. Thumbs up for your great bike.

      Thank you, Karsten.
      With the sticky S22 rubber, overall light wet weight and optimized power (116 whp @10’800 rpm) the SP is a treat on the mountain passes.
      Also, no problems to do a 2’500 km holiday tour (with some SW Motech Pro gear) thanks to the comfortable riding position (one of the biggest assets vs the Streety RS 2023, at least for my body shape 😅).

Had a 2018 R before and the RS is such a great bike, with improvements in every area. Love the new front end styling and the tank design changes as well. It all looks more aggressive. But no matter how hard I try I can’t take a photo of it that makes the yellow paint look like it actually does 😂 It’s such a great colour in the flesh. You can’t deny the R is great value though. I test rode both back to back starting with the r. I found the ride plusher on the rs, some of that could be down to the tyres as well as the suspension. The rs to me feels more premium when you're aboard, things like the levers and brake reservoir look cheap on the r. Whilst the r is a great bike I opted for the rs and picked up my yellow one a week ago. Must admit, the dash/cockpit really lets this down. The previous R had a dashboard, mirrors and controls that felt more premium. You knew you were on a STR. Now it would look like you were on a Trident/Tiger 660. I had a Trident and felt it would play on my mind. Also, painted black engine casings, again a step down in the premium look? Could be wrong there. However, the engine is great, and the handling is fantastic if it's a step up from last year. I'm sure they will sell loads. The R would be my choice over the RS for road use.

I think if people are worried so much about the extra money I wouldn’t even buy a 2023 triple I’d buy a 2020. Try the new Suzuki GSX 8S. That might just be the right bike if you don't want too much power. I think 130 HP is too much for normal street use anyway. When can you really use it? Suspension is a lot better on the RS and the R though...There should be a R version of the Suzuki GSX 8S that deals with the suspension if it was up to me......

I had high hopes for the Triumph to be my next bike, handling wise, in the 15min test i took it was exceptional, maybe I can get used to te cockpit, but the power is too much for me. I haven't ridden the GSX8S yet, but the seating position is really good. Much better than I expected, class leading I would say. The Hornet is to small for me, I felt cramped. I've never considered buying this bike before. But recently I started looking into something a bit more stable than the mt-07, the throttle on the MT is also a bit too twitchy, so I've been also looking for something that will be smoother.
    I've been debating between this and the MT09. The MT has more torque, but I'm afraid that will make it a bit too twitchy even with the different ride modes. So this bike has been looking really good.

    • @yee4618

      The MT09 is a wheelie machine and a real handful. It's very nervous which soke riders love, but if you don't like it on the 07 it's even more amplified on the 09! The triumph triple is way more refined, more predicatble and linear, not to mention.one of the best chassis in its class! And that triumph intake and exhaust note is something you can't get anywhere else!
