What an amazingly complex area. So many bunkers, and gun positions, and little hidden tunnels and locations. And with a history stretching over probably 100 years, from the 1800's to Post-War that really shows you the importance of that harbour area. It's interesting to see how each occupier has adapted the site to there own use, but still used the original buildings and tunnels that were there. thank you both for taking the time, and making the effort, to explore the area around the harbour! Looking forward to seeing what else you found in part 2! Cheers to you both! Stay Safe!

Really a great site. Do love those coastal artillery sites. Amazing there was still some of the pulley system for moving the shells up was still left intact at that battery. Love the fact there were still buildings there from the original site and then when the Germans took over. That they still had WWII beds there along with the air purification system was amazing. Looked like someone had been living there recently. Looking forward to part 2.

Another great video, my friend. It's an excellent gun emplacement. I'm surprised that it still has a lot of steel. The bunks explain the antenna and mast on the outside in the trees. It's funny how they attached the wooden slats to the old spring and metal wire mesh bed. It's a great place, and the fact that the 1800s building is still standing is phenomenal. Beautiful area. The both of you stay safe and well.

Another interesting find, that gun pit still had the steel doors protecting the munition storage compartments! The gun at the upper position must have been huge! The bunk room was in great shape and it must have been repurposed after the war. A number of the steel doors are in great shape. Is someone preserving this location? This is a very intriguing location. I'm trying to determine which of the fittings is original and which is from the cold war, as it seems the people who renovated the buildings reused much of it in various ways. Some of it looks quite new actually, but it runs along the lines of the original channels. The fitting you came across towards the end of the video is really odd. It seems to have it's original cables running to it, but also incorporates the later Siemens equipment and cables. So strange.

Amazing explore. Im starting to get disappointed with WWII documentaries. They mostly just focus on the politicians, generals, tanks, planes and ships. Whereas explorers show a lot more of how the average soldier was living, which is just as important.

@@WW2HistoryHunter When I was young in Zweibrücken in the 60's I used to explore a lot of the old war relics. Back then it was very dangerous due to all the old ammunition, weapons and un exploded ordinance laying around.
