"I know this isn't my property, and I just sit here shooting dope all day, and I also declined the offer for drug treatment, but the police coming here is just bullshit." You tell 'em, sister!
@population-_-420 I wouldn't say I've been "missing" voting blue. 🤣 It took me only two election cycles to realize that blue is the color of hypocrites and liars ... Much earlier than most that have been enrolled in public -education- indoctrination.
I’m sure it’s just an anomaly. We all know it’s because government doesn’t offer enough treatment services. They all really want to get clean and sober and find jobs 🙄
I was homeless once. Had warrants. Fought and worked to climb my way out. Correct my mistakes. Now i have a home, 2 hot rods, a business. You think because of a mistake people are no longer worth anything? People like you make the world SUCK!
Exactly what I said, but with a little more sarcasm ❣️and none of them have interest in going to rehab or shelter where they have rules❣️🤦♀️🤔 I talk to the homeless here, some of the shelters require going to church or some worship service, when you are high the last thing you want is religion shoved down your throat! I’ve been clean and sober for many years. I’m getting older and the high wasn’t worth chasing!
If you have a warrant, this means suspected criminal, and legal arrest authorized. What is confusing? Camp designated for cleanup, noticed provided. Also, authorized.
Book and release another junkie....WTF. Keep moving the two blocks every day until the city trash is gone. Citizens /taxpayers want our city back. Can that happen to Ted Wheeler & Dan Ryan too. Move along.... No compassion for the "leaders" that have let this continue for years.
Yep, the city is running out of time to clean itself up and start attracting workers and businesses back to the central business district. The city - and all its residents and businesses - and other Oregonians living outside the city who would just like to come in to visit and enjoy a clean and functioning city - can't continue to be held hostage by a small number of folks with serious issues living on sidewalks. Provide help, sure, but not by allowing Portland to be turned into something out of a third world country. City's gotta put the foot down and set boundaries of what's acceptable.
Many street homeless die alone quietly abandoned by everybody. What's even more sad is their bodies get eaten by other homeless and stray animals and just disappear in that darkness.
This started to be a real problem in the US in the 1980s when the Supreme Court decided that if they aren't a danger to the public or themselves, they could not be involuntarily held in a mental health facility.
This started being a problem in Poopland halfway through BO’s second term. Prior to that not so much as a stray plastic straw anywhere. Fundamental transformation as promised.
For anyone with empathy. Homeless are far from harmless. Once they are high, they have a sense of invulnerability. Then they crash, and become highly aggressive. When threats and fists start flying, prepare your attitude adjuster revelation. They don't feel pain initially.
There are a lot of documented mis use of involuntary commits. What's needed is accountability on both sides. Available by income rentals. Treatment and social services par with organize camp spaces. Registration of homeless to a city they stay in. Not all homeless are addicts. Yet many become one by being homeless. Having a safe place with responsibilities and independence ( not a jail environment but rules as any apartment or campground). Accountability of funds/ grants used in programs. A step process would be good. Like tent to tiny house to apartment for many.
When you're in this situation you should be required to accept help. Not as punishment but as assistance. Most drug addicts won't just 'decide' they want help. They must be pulled into it. I feel for these folks, but the fact is they are taking the city away from everyone else who lives here and pays taxes. It's not fair.
Sometimes they are former addicts who have gotten clean and want to help others do the same because they know it’s a better life. Good on him for trying to help the situation.
What a crazy thought I just had what if these HOMELESS people actually did something for themselves, play go to CODA or Allied and make that first step to get off fentanyl.. what a wild concept.... God how Blair Best constantly skips right over that question.. that mean most important nothing else matters until you do that first question come on Blair stop blaming the lack of these treatment centers you know nothing about get in there be a journalist asked them why they're not doing anything for themselves
He’s a good human doing what he can to help people, why insult someone actively fighting his own struggles with addiction on a daily basis? I’m sure it’s far more than you’ve ever done to help our community besides be a keyboard warrior.
I would love to get in front of the camera and really tell the people of Portland what the real story is. I worked with these people everyday and the Stark truth is far from what you are hearing.
Me too. When I moved here, I fell right into the “ help the homeless “ trap. Worst experience of my life. One actually showed up at my house and refused to leave. Meth is a terrible drug. But there is soooooooo much help in Oregon if you want it. They don’t.
Does Portland have any prosecutors that will do their job? Any public defenders? Any judges? Jail time? Can't have law and order without the whole package!!
Keep voting liberal democrat and the society in your head will keep looking waaaaay better than the one you get to live in. Good Luck, and vote better.
Depends on your city: in Tillamook there are 3 long term camps on the tidal sloughs, one camp has ad hoc buildings. Do they have a mayor? 🤔None of the camps have sanitation but are on waterways that connect to the bay. When will these camps be addressed as ppl live like feral beings?
All but one declined services bc they want to keep using drugs. Period. That’s the problem. Nothing is going to change someone who doesn’t want to change unless you force them to by placing them in an environment where drugs aren’t prevalent. Jail.
Honestly im all about cleaning up and actually helping out these homeless. But come on Portland, you havent given a crap in years now all the sudden theyre putting in effort.
They are human beings, who are dealing with the sadness of alcohol, drug abuse and mental illness. All these people need is Love and to be guided in the right direction in life. God bless them all including the kind human beings helping them.❤❤❤
Charley Hodges was just killed here at Wallace Marine Park, Salem Oregon because he was protecting a woman❣️ He was a sweet kid trying to kick his addiction resources are limited here.
The homeless don't want help they want to keep doing drugs the ones who got arrested hope they do time in jail and are in jail for months. These homeless people just out there begging for money and that ain't right they need mental health and alot of help these people that are homeless need alot of help but if the people don't want help then they need to be be hide bars for month or a couple of years then they may learn hopefully.
This shows the recovery of our society here in the US over decriminalizing certain drugs. Now with the open borders do we criminalize again with all the waves of certain dangerous substances and minds coming over the borders. Let’s get to work America and good job on the arrested warrant pick up. It’s crazy how things can be now in the situation nation wide… 🤟♾️😎 Thanks for the news.
I empathize with those in the camp. I pray this unfortunate event ends in positivity. I just hope the outreach programs are more proactive and reach out to the camps before the police do. I think that will make the homeless individuals feel more like a citizen and less like a fugitive. In reality those on the run with warrants will benefit from this arrest being that now they can resolve their legal matters and hopefully move forward. ❤

@population-_-420 I miss voting blue about as much as I miss gout attacks or UTI's.
The reason they declined the help is because they want to do drugs!!!
Canadian offer free drugs as long as they are under supervision.
@population-_-420BS. There are resources for people who are not drinking/using
@population-_-420 literally again shut up
@population-_-420 why can’t they?

Pouring through? She was posted and has a warrant. Whud she think was gonna happen?
That fentanyl makes people STUPID.
And their sense of entitlement.
Only (1) person accepted assistance says all you need to know
Go to ANY homeless camp and most will have warrants.
And drugs
The system works, sadly but it was designed that way tho.

Actions speak louder than words.
No they don’t
When my street gets cleared, I feel better. I sleep better. But the clear never lasts. I miss the way the city used to be
It’s just maid service.
..and you accept that.
Disgusting.

It’s getting close to election time and the homeless camps and the current drug problem doesn’t look good for those running for re-election.
I used to love going over to Portland. It was a gorgeous City. Lots of fun. Now it’s a trash heap
