Scott you are awesome. Me, my brother and my sister, now all in our 60s, were first introduced by our mom, to antiquing as kids. I love how you go into the history, the lifestyle of the persons who first owned these items back in the day, your incredible knowledge of the manufacturers, the restorations you do, and you've taught me so much about wonderful antique glass items that really opened my eyes to a facet of antiques that I never really knew much about. A whole new world of collecting. You ROCK! Thank you.
That song at the end poking fun at Jersey was so amusing! It reminded me of when I was a kid in the 70s and my parents watched All in the Family and the way they pronounced Jersey on that show was funny to me, well most of the way they talked was funny to my Southern ears, talking about the "ter-let" and hearing "verses" 😂. But as to Jersey, there was an episode where Archie and Edith went on their second honeymoon trip to "'lantic City" as Edith called it and Archie is dissing everything about the place the whole time. Or when Mike and Gloria were looking to move out and were looking at houses in Jersey and Archie says, "Nobody wants to be in Jersey". I guess ya'll are used to New Yorkers looking down on you in Jersey!
About the quick “no” on the lampshade: good possibility that the proprietor had been asked that several times before- that was a fantastic lampshade - and depending on where you came from in the building, he knew. But man, that would have been hard for me to pass up - quality! And your clocks - holy cow! Not only a deal, they were gorgeous. Our hone was built in 1892 and it still had all the original knobs and door hardware, and flooring - oak on the main and stair threads but it was switched to pine on the upstairs.
Actually, I think the proprietor didn’t want to be bothered. He wasn’t paying me any attention at all and really had no clue where I was in the building. The lamp was positioned in an area in which he couldn’t see and they were actually several lamps in different booths with mixed matched lampshades. I wasn’t annoyed, but honestly, he was a bit dismissive. No worries 😀
Fun fun thrift trip! Thanks for taking us along!!! I just love how you stop and show us things on the shelves even if you don’t buy them. I wish I had courage enough to drive on I 95 or any highway. I am missing out on some awesome shops . Stay cool and hydrated 🌞. Ridley Park Pennsylvania was stifling today. I am sure it was difficult to leave the Jersey shore😢! Happy thrifting Scott.
Our family has a similar clock that my great grandfather bought. He was a streetcar operator and he eyed it and stepped off the streetcar to purchase. My mother has it now and dad used to wind it it every eight days. (I love the sound( I’ve heard it my whole life) It doesn’t work currently and dad passed three years ago, so it sits silent 😢
I love the Kitchen clock you shared with us. I will look forward to learning about the other clock. Go take care of your skin (maybe a bit of lotion or aloe vera so you do not peel) and we will be seeing you on Monday!
Thank you for your kind concern, but I am not sunburnt. The temperature was 97° outside and probably 100° inside my truck when I was filming so I imagine I was a bit blushed.
I have the gingerbread clock. I inherited it. Now that I've moved to a smaller place, it is on the floor of my living room. That is a great buy on the clocks. Good for you.
I have got a clock like the one you talked about. It was my grandparents. They lived very near to Edmonton Alberta Canada 🇨🇦. They were poor folk, farmers. They married in 1925, their only child was born in 1926, and my grandfather died in 1927. My grandmother never fully got over the loss of her husband.😢
That kitchen clock is great, Scott. I think that with a good cleaning and oiling and maybe some adjustments, it would run. Even the alarm bell was trying to ring. But, you forgot to show us the other one! I will have to keep watching your videos to see it, I guess. Always fun shopping with you, thanks for the trip.
I think you need that green clothesline. Nothing like air dried linens. Those branch/lichen lamps would look amazing with christmas lights (you could change out the bulb colors w/ season); If I got, I would be tempted to gild the dark leaf/vine on them. Let me know if that music box turns on in the middle of the night..
My house has the glass door knobs!! I need them! Lol. 1940 bungalow (sears house!?) Wisconsin......come visit, have guest room.lol.seriously....you have taught me so much!! Bless you!
Being on the South Central side of PA, not sure if my clock guy works in your area but he has made parts for antique clocks. He oils and maintains my grandfather clock every few years. He does a great job.
I love old mechanical clocks. I try to open them up when they are overwound. As long as the main spring isn’t broken. I try and clean it especially the pivot points and put a dab of synthetic clock oil on those points. I guess old oil gets sticky. I’ve revived a few miniature cuckoo clocks.
Please tell me you bought the glass door knobs… My childhood is at stake. The antique parchment shade. I should wait until the video completes to comment. I apologize for my excitement in advance. Oh those lamps Ok.. one more edit… I have my Great Great Grand mother’s kitchen clock so very similar to that!. And this is my final comment.., I promise
That lamp you liked the shade of, I've been trying to find but Ohio doesn't seem to have much of these in our antique shops. I guess I need to travel east!
I was walking through Ashton Under Lyne,Manchester,England and saw a strange looking incident....immediately thought,"Thats catywhompass"😂😂😂It was the perfect word to describe it
One of my clocks is a grandfather clock. It keeps time perfectly but it won't chime. It wants to chime, you can hear the "click" at every quarter hour.
With all the vintage clocks I have, I've found it very hard to find people who will work on them. Sadly, there aren't many people who do that anymore 😢
My husband and I saw you in the store where you bought the clocks. I wanted to say hi but did not want to bother you. Probably would have been tongue tied anyway lol
What a beautiful clocks you found. Please Stay Safe Happy and Healthy Have A Wonderful Day
Thanks for comments on piano music box! Never saw another like the one I have.
Smashing clock ,hope it works.👍😀

@@oldcuriosityshop265 I’ll just have to go to a dark alley and sift for them
I do the same thing sometimes, commenting before the whole video is over. Lol
