Saving this so hopefully I remember to watch in the spring. How does the sweeping hook set in this situation differ from walleye shore fishing in river or does it.

Awesome!! Glad you liked it! You probably want a little more power on the river fish in a hook set. you maybe using larger hooks as well

We like #2 for leeches and 4 or 6s for minnows depending on size.

Does the split shot weight go to the bottom and the leach suspends above it? Also is it ok to just use mono or do you suggest have a floro leader? Great video thank you

The split shot helps to pull the bobber into a vertical position, so you can detect bites better.
You want the leech to be lower than split shot, which it will naturally do as it falls towards the bottom of the lake.
You can use straight mono, the whole way. That is how they have it tied on.
If you want to, you can add a swivel in between the split shot and the bead/bobber/knot. That is what I normally do. I use a lighter leader in case my line breaks, so I don’t lose my knot/bead/bobber set up. If you want, you can use flouro for that leader.

You need to pit a bead right below the bobber.
