    Active recall is so crucial! Med school forced me to and all I can say is I wish I would have started sooner. Thanks for sharing your process I’ll be talking about my process on my channel soon!

    OMG I can’t tell you how much you have opened me eyes.I changed my study method 3-4 different times in the past month From just doing questions to watching videos taking notes and trying to pound it in my brain, to using Kaplan books and highlighting writing foot notes and trying to pound it in my brain, khan academy, etc…. All these methods seem to take way to long and I felt like even though I was doing 1-2 chapters a day I wasn’t retaining as much info doing 7+ hrs a day. I felt like I was wasting my time and so discouraged and even thought about withdrawing from the whole process. I just happen to come across your videos today and it really gave me a different sense of motivation and help. I really feel like I can do this now and not only get into medical school but help someone else who I see struggling in this process. I haven’t tried active recall to study for the MCAT and honestly I never heard of active recall. Me looking at your videos this new/old method is true. I say new/old because in undergrad I took A&P, intro to bio, exercise physiology, chemistry(s), etc.. and I got B+s & As in those classes. This was due to active recall. My professors at the end of each PowerPoint and lecture had potential questions and what I did was I went thought all the lectures and answered the questions and studied based off that as I am 80% a repetitious 15% visual & 5% auditory learner. I didn’t realize that this was active recall. On test day I felt like I knew all of the information and I never touched a book just did the potential questions and on one of my final exams I got an 89. Mind you it was over 150 potential questions and I was able to recall almost everything through this method. I’m a planner and organizer by default so setting time tables and spacing out recall is something I do naturally and is also what helped me in active recall unknowingly. Thank you. I am going to try this route officially because it is my passion to be someone’s obgyn someday and assist in bringing life into the world. ❤️❤️❤️ thank you Petty you are a life saver.

      @@arqumabdulah2796 no health and fitness. I did the science track so I could get all of my science completed and also become a doctor and incorporate the fitness aspect in it because I want to be an obgyn. That’s why I took that route.

    I love your method and I think youd really like using Anki or Remnote! If you havent used either of them, I'd give them a try because they basically do the spaced repetition for you. Anki cards are just flashcards, but Remnote presents similar to Notion style notes, so its pretty cool!

    Try to learn...understand...and for facts watch videos...or download some pictures related to the topic

      Watch this video. I would explain but I’m too lazy to type it all out😂 basically it’s kinda like spending 5 days on each mode and repeating the cycle (obviously you can tailor it if you feel like a certain module needs more of your attention than the other) and then every time you repair the cycle, you add on notes you’ve made and stuff between the time you last time studied for the module. Like layering.

    So wait, you make your own questions during the lecture and answer them afterward, how so like how do you manage to remember the answer to all of them or do you use materials to answer them? I hope I make sense i'm a little slow

    • @beckypowi1617
      @beckypowi1617 3 роки тому +3

      From what I understand she means that during the lecture she writes questions and right after the lecture she uses active recall to answer those questions because the information is still in her head. Correct me if I am wrong but the next day she goes through the lecture recordings and see if her recalls meaning the answers to her questions are correct according to her lectures. I hope my explanation is clear.

    • @Dr.Nellah
      @Dr.Nellah  3 роки тому +1

      Yes I concentrate and engage in the lecture which allows me to remember a lot. I sit and really apply myself to try na remember (hence it’s not an easy read and rewrite) and it’s okay if I don’t remember that’s the whole point of the exercise to strengthen what I know and also see my gaps.

    How do you make the template for your lecture questions

  • @user-ii4gg4lw6u

    I’m a little confused... At one point in the video you say you study about 3 hr a a day. Basically pay attention to the lecture n write down questions, then answer them after the lecture by memory, revise the next day by active recall and follow up with spaced repetition. The question I have is,the following day you have another new lecture ryt? So you need to do the whole process for that new lecture on top of active recalling stuff from the previous day ryt? Does all of that fit into three hours or is that three hours you talk about related to something completely else?🤔
    Also how does clinicals get in the way of study schedules ?
    It would mean so much to clarify what i didn't understand..

    • @Dr.Nellah
      @Dr.Nellah  3 роки тому

      I understand your question, the 3hrs i meant JUST for new info from start to finish. Usually my spaced repetition going over previous work would be another hour maybe 2 max since it’s no longer new information (unless it’s red then it might take longer) but I’ll break it up so I’m not sitting for 6hrs straight.
      When I did do clinicals then it was the same as going to lectures in terms of time. I just study after as usually I’m not in the hospital ALL DAY everyday but everyone’s situation is different.
      I also study rotation related clinics so whatever rotation I’m on I study that topic/system.
      Hope that helps.

      @@Dr.Nellah Thank you for explaining☺️unfortunately it feels impossible to carry out this schedule.In my school there are lecture every day from from 8/9 am to 4/5 pm.after which there's like 45min commute back home. And there's multiple modules going at the same time. Actually ppl who do study groups go on till like 11/12pm. It's like, 5-6 hours of studying every day just leaves no time for anything else😪
      Anyway i love your study videos.there's so many good tips that I find useful.
