For those who don't know, The Knitting Factory is relatively small, so them all being up there and not nearly knocking each other off stage is impressive.
I'd really enjoy to see one of their acoustic sets.

I've seen Portal plenty of times and this was my favourite gig - Blackie from Voivod got them the perfect live sound - Gorguts were killer too

It's sinful to compare portal with ghost, this is real darkness, ghost is a new born panda compared to this.
It's a totally different target audience and style, it's not like Ghost are playing Death Metal. They are both great in their respective genre

The back end of 13 Globes is one of the heaviest, grimmest pieces of music. I fucking love Portal.
This is so different than any other genre of metal, it's in a class of its own, that's why I love this evilness so much.

I was there but could not get into the gig. I remember it was a hot as fuck day outside, I can only imagine the heat in these hoods. Also Blacky from Voivod was Portal's sound guy I believe for this show.
I used to write these guys off as a joke because I didn’t understand what they were doing. After watching dozens of vids and reading stories and interviews, I realize these guys are no fcking joke, this is the real deal, scares the crap out of me.
I love when people just hate on bands like this, acting like they have heard ANYTHING even close to Portal. They’re not my favorite band ever, but god damn it if they aren’t the most evil sounding, no one is.

Wow this is some freaky scary stuff & done in a very professional way. These guys put on a great performance, I'm very impressed. Just found out about them, going to check more of there stuff out. Love the names of thier songs too.

Surrealistic Chthonic Death Metal from Downunder at the Knitting Factory, namely performed by the (darkly) unfathomably mighty Portal , sounds like the definition of the perfect nightmare, an extreme existing experience /EEE) and yet i yearn over having been there. There is no doubt in this world that this group revolutionized DM - yes, all the Cavemen are welcome as well as those overmeticulous, progressive mathematicians, but this iswas something completely different.

i honest to satan have no idea why people make the comparison of ghost to this band. they are 2 totally separate genres (obviously. i get the "pope" look but if im comparing ghost to any band its kiss. portal is on a whole different plane of existence. just because aj good brought you here doesn't mean you're a master of music....only me.
Ghost brings in a newer & younger audience with how accessible their music is. Those fans only have one point of reference to metal music & it's sadly Ghost. The same thing happened when Slipknot found commercial success, surface-level fans pointed towards every masked musician or attempt at anonymity as a shitty rip-off of their favourite band.

I'm more a Ghost fan than a Portal fan but Portal is older. And fortunately these two bands dont sound the same, we dont need a band that is a copy of another band

Except that Ghost isn't even metal. For one, Portal have had this look for way longer than Ghost. Second, "The Curator", Portal's lead singer, has had many different looks - including a clockhead, witch's hat covering his entire head, and a medieval queen. Finally, Ghost is just not a suitable substitute for Portal because...I mean, have you actually listened to both bands? Portal is clearly in a *completely* different genre altogether. Ghost is like pop-ish hard rock, while Portal is, well.....Portal. Kind of an experimental Blackened Death, but not really placeable in that category either. I listen to Portal to be scared shitless. I listen to Ghost to.....well, I don't listen to Ghost.
