Always love NICK The Sinister Southpaw’s guitar licks and lessons! Nick always gets it RIGHT! The way the songs are truly played. Hats off Brother Nick, and a thank you to SWEETWATER for bringing us this content. ⭐️⭐️💙⭐️⭐️
A Living Legend playing a Legendary riff created by another Living Legendary player! How Awesome is this!!! Nick is one of my all time Metal Heroes and such a gentleman!!! You are the Best Nick, and thanks Sweetwater for bringing us Nick's amazing talent here on UA-cam!! Hails!!!
On the For Those About to Rock tour. The stage was dark, then a spotlight lit up the bell as it was lowered. Brian came out with a sledge hammer... My first concert. !!! That was also my introduction to mushrooms. Which are now legal in this state. Also, this is one of my all time favorite guitar guys on UA-cam. We salute you, Sir! Well done.
Thanks so much Sweetwater for bringing us Nick and this great lesson! Brings back memories of High School and Grim Reaper. I can’t think of anyone better to teach us this song. Love ya Nick! Keep rocking man!
Back in black is one of my favorites when I was a kid? I borrowed my mom’s copy a lot. She is a retired police women from Scotland ? And she lives in South Carolina where her kids are from. And my dad was from. Hells bells is one of the first riffs I wanna learn as a beginner guitarist.
Knuckles on the back of the 12th fret , open clean channel. Perfect E bell ! I use to do that over 30 years ago in a cover band. Partying with AC/DC on their tour bus in Dayton Ohio, is the best of my rock and roll memories 👍
I really enjoy your videos. They push me to continue on! Played drums for almost forty years but always had a liking for the guitar. I wonder if you could include something that would greatly help us "Newbies". Mention your setup. What are you using to attain the sound. Need the iconic sound to go along with the iconic teachings. That is SO important. Thanks so much Nick for taking the time to work these out and then passing that knowledge to us all! Your lessons always bring back some wonderful memories from the past.
Great job Nick and sweetwater.. I feel the need for some more candy as GAS is setting in.. love the insight from Angus with Nicks past interviews.. brings me great joy to know that Angus keeps things simple but try playing it right.. or in time.. I've been trying for years to get these right.. thanks guys..!!
I remember trying an experiment out of a science book when I was a kid in the '60's, it said to suspend a common teaspoon by a thread, hold the other thread against your ear and strike the spoon lightly. It sounds just like a church bell! Then in the '80's it occurred to me that the same sound should be picked up by an electric guitar, and trying to emulate this for "Hells Bells" might work. Well, it did sound quite good for a second, until the magnet sucked the spoon into the pickup, so you got "Bong... bong.. CLANK!"
As Nick pointed out in a video distributed on a CD in "Guitar World" 10 years ago, just watch yourself in the mirror to see yourself playing like he does.
Awesome stuff as always, Nick! I'd love to see you occasionally get some of these legends on with you to show these riffs themselves. It'd be like we were in the room in those interviews!
Love ya Nick. I really enjoy / and learn a lot watching your lessons. I also spent some time watching your history with Grim Reaper. Great stuff. Question, what happen to the hair? Being a child of the 70s, I do miss the hair. Thanks again for all you do.
Question. Just finished the 1st 6 chapters on Guitar tricks. I want to now try to learn a song. I selected Hells Bells as it’s not supposed to the the hardest. However, GuitarTricks starts I believe it’s just strumming and starts with A chord 3 times (2nd fret B,G, & D). I want to learn your way though. I have a Mustang LT 25 and a Fender Squire classic Vibe 70s. I can’t get it to sound like AC/DC and I know the LT 25 will not exactly, but I was hoping you or someone could give me an idea of what settings to put the guitar on (lever, tone..) and what settings I should put in my LT 25. I would Kirk to do a custom setting on the LT25 amp including tone, STOMP, Delay, MOD, and REV settings. Any ideas? Of course each of those have settings such as STOMP you can set if your energy clean 2, overdrive, then gain, tone, mid, high…. Maybe there is somewhere for this amp to be able to have a guide on what settings to put in for certain albums or songs? But mainly for now I just want some thing that sounds like Hells bells.
Does anyone know if Angus used all down picking on this riff? I might have it confused with South of Heaven though. I was learning both at the same time and thought both are down picking only
I’ll be darned, I play it almost exactly like this, except I slide back up to the seventh with my index finger instead of fretting with my ring finger before the turnaround, or “chunk #4.”
Great lesson on Hell's Bells! Homage to Beelzebub will get Nick sentenced to the electric pew! To save Nick from eternal damnation, please write a check for $7.65 and sent it to...
This rock 'n roll mainstay is a must-have in any riffer's arsenal! Make sure you subscribe for more lesson videos like this one!
I LOVE seeing another lefty!!! HELL YEAH!!!

Well met brother !
As a lad I heard Grim Reaper and here I am getting a lesson from a member. Can't beat that.

Mr. Bowcott is a total gentleman. And GR will always be in my playlist….
Thanks Nick and Sweetwater for this lesson. I find following your instruction so easy and would love to see a few lessons with the complete song.

Thanks, Flash! 🤘
Love the lesson. Well done and easy to follow. Makes me want to check out all your other great videos. Keep them coming.
My favorite riff of all time, taught just a bit differently than I originally learned it. So glad to have seen this. Thanks Nick!
SWEETWATER RULES!!!!!!!!...and so do you Nick......thanks...great all time jam right there....

Sounds killer!
Cool 😎
Great lesson Nick, thank-you so much. If I close my eyes while listening I couldn't tell if it was you or Angus playing!

Damn that tone is spot on
Nick, great story about the song being written in E 🙏
Awesome lesson, Nick! The fact that you're wrong-handed made my brain work a bit harder, but the fretboard charts were super helpful. Cheers! :-)
Left handed... 😂 I am a lefty too, we see the same things when watching a right handed lesson.
As Nick pointed out in a video distributed on a CD in "Guitar World" 10 years ago, just watch yourself in the mirror to see yourself playing like he does.
Great lesson!! Thanks !!
Great lesson. Helped me clean this up. Thanks!
😎👊
Lefty guitarists Unite! ☺ Great lesson I will save and go watch Maximum Overdrive now 🎸
Great lesson !!
Fun and thanks. Fumbling along but should have it in a month or two. 👍
Great tutorial! Cheers
All I can say is awesome 🤟 Yes, I’ve been playing this wrong too ahah!
Awesome stuff as always, Nick! I'd love to see you occasionally get some of these legends on with you to show these riffs themselves. It'd be like we were in the room in those interviews!
Excellent.

Thanks again for all you do.
Is there a TAB or chords written out for this? He does explain it well but I also learn from written. And thank you for this one!
Would love to see Malcolm’s part for this song. Awesome lesson 😁
Many thanks, I learn much easier watching a lefty, something in my brain sees things clearer in a mirror image.
Sid gets it 👆
Thanks, man!
Thanks for your help ! First song try to play 🫣 never play guitar before 😂
For those about to rock- Here's Hells Bells! FIYAAAAAH!
Can you please do “New York Groove” by Ace Frehley?
This I great. Do you have the rest of the song anywhere?
Great video and thank you for making it easy to understand. Mind if I ask what equipment your'e using to get that tone?
Thank U :-)

Are we sure he knows what he talks about when he says "just a hair slower"? :p
Nice and quick tutorial, thanks. :)
You need BOTH earbuds in for this....!
😂😂
Does anyone know if Angus used all down picking on this riff? I might have it confused with South of Heaven though. I was learning both at the same time and thought both are down picking only
If that SG came from the showroom, I bought the other lefty SG standard that was right beside it.
wow a fellow lefty
I’ll be darned, I play it almost exactly like this, except I slide back up to the seventh with my index finger instead of fretting with my ring finger before the turnaround, or “chunk #4.”
Hey Nick I got a Request it’s an easy one it’s Heavy by collective soul 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Now show us the hard part! 🎸🤘
Is it me or is the cabinet turned off in the interface? The guitar just sounds like static. You need an IR enabled. 🤔
About 50 years old beginner here, I’m struggling hardest with the timing…😢
Same. I’m 60 and instructor told me to play using official video at .70 or .75 speed. Seems to help. Then bump up speed and muscle memory improves
Sorry Nick a Ton is 2000 pounds. I have done the math my friend..lol. Great Video as always :)
A British (he's a Brit, remember) long ton is 2,240 pounds, but that just makes his math even worse!
1 ton = 2000lbs damnit!
I just know how to play the bell part.
You’re playing it backwards. 😜
I am right handed and this looks weird
Can't believe you threw the album cover..
Bro maybe YOU love "A-minor"
I had to beat him to def, wif his own shoe..
...but sure enough, we got the M&M's
@@sweetwater love it!
Ya but it’s not Angus….🤣🤣 sorry there is always 1 of me. Or one of my favorites…it doesn’t sound exactly like the original. 🤣🤣 ok I’m done. Great job.
Hard to follow, he’s holding the guitar the wrong way and his fat fingers obstruct/view how to play the strings on the frets .
