Thanks for the video. Helped to get it done. Not a tough job, tank out in just over an hour. A little longer getting it back in as my tank was 3/4 full and didn't feel safe driving anymore with fuel drippibg down the tank. Just takes a 10mm, 13mm ratchet with extensions. A little fiddly getting everything back in place. Helpful to use 2 jacks when raising and lower the tank. Good idea to get a new gasket as well.
Spent about 11 hours doing this to our 2011 Range Rover Sport Superchaged. This video was excellent, referred to many times. Absolutely could not have done this without the excellent narrative. My only comment, I would not attempt again without a lift. Unless you don’t mind extremely tight spaces. There are MANY tight spaces where hoses attach and It’s not quite as simple as removing 6 - 13mm bolts. Re-installation also very tedious at 3 AM. Otherwise, this fix was successful! Dealer part (petrol flange) was $275, and they estimated labor at $500.
Great video .. I installed the new cap and reinstalled the tank but I’m getting a small leak out of the charcoal valve in the rear and an error code PO442. Any thoughts? It’s on a 2013 LR4
I am doing this same procedure today. Everything is disconnected except the one fuel line in the front that goes from the tank to a metal line. I squeezed and pulled and I can’t get that sucker off. I just stepped away for a minute cause I don’t want to break it. Any tricks to getting that connection free?
Thanks for the video. Great explanation and detail. I am contemplating attempting this repair on my 2010 LR4. How high will I need to raise the vehicle in order to be able to lower the tank? If I support the vehicle on jack stands front and rear, will that suffice? I don't have access to a lift. Also, will a floor jack with a transmission type attachment suffice for receiving the tank when I get ready to lower it down? Thanks for your response(s) in advance.
I just used a small floor jack and jack stands to get under the vehicle. It doesn’t need to be very high. Having another transmission type of jack attachment would really be helpful. I just balanced it on the floor jack to lower it. The owner wasn’t experiencing any hesitation issues before or after the repair. Thanks for watching! Best of luck to you. -Dan the Fix it Man
How much does this cost to fix? I smell gas when I drive my LR2 but I don’t ever see any fuel on the ground. The dealer told me it was a loose bolt and sent me on my way. It was ok for a a week or so, but if the vent is on, I smell the gas really strong. I keep it on recirculated to prevent the smell from entering the car. Is this going to cost me a lot?
Hi Deidra, At the dealership, it would definitely cost more than a local mechanic. I really don’t know the going rate for something like this. It took me about 2 hours total (taking my time and going kind of slow). You might show this video to a mechanic and see if they can at least try to diagnose it if it’s leaking from the same place. Since you can smell unburned fuel when driving, I would recommend you get it fixed immediately and I should probably advise you to not drive the vehicle until it’s fixed. It’s very dangerous and might catch fire. Please let us all know what you find, and/or how much it costs. Best of luck to you! Take care, -Dan the Fix it Man
I went ahead and did this on my own . Pretty easy . But I have a no fuel warning and lr4 wont start . Any idea what i missed ? Connectors inside are only the black and the tan colored ?
Servicio CDA what i did I made sure that the connector inside clicked . Very well that was my problem , but then my lr4 was telling me To check my gas cap , which i probably have a leak somewhere
One other question (for everyone): Did any of you guys that experienced this problem also experience hesitations and rough acceleration throttle response especially climbing hills? I'm wondering if I have another problem in addition to this leak. Thanks.
Same here after changing fuel filter.. lost on what to do. 2011 LR4 . Fixed the fuel leak. Now having rough idle issues, restricted mode intermittently. I'll let you know if I'm able to find the fix
Just had the same problem on my 2011 sport bought the part and new gasket off Amazon for $54 took a few hours and help from my wife to jack up the gas tank I had 1/2 a tank of fuel not ideal I would recommend a 1/4 tank or less thank you for the video I let my leak go for 2 months before investigating what the issue was we are luckey we didnt blow up
This is common problem when guys careless jack the car, close to the right rear wheel. Be careful when changing that wheel, it’s close to the fuel tank!
This is now an official recall campaign N623, a free repair at Land Rover or they will reimburse you if you paid for it.
Thank you for this update.
Thanks for the excellent video! Much more comprehensive than the last couple I watched.

Great video! I'm currently dropping mine out of my '11 LR4 for what is likely the same broken piece. Thanks for all the great info!
Tanks for your video!!! You help me fixed my wife's Rover!! I saved $600
Question for you: How much does it usually cost to drop the tank and find what's causing a leak on top of the gas tank? 2012 RR Sport HSE. Thank you.
Great video talking us through it! Thx
Most excellent video. TY.
Thank you! Great video man. I just replaced mine.
I have a LR3 2005. V8 same thing happened. Fuel squirting out! I hope it's the intake filter....
It's like when I saw the plastic carb on my friends Jeep. Good vid tho!

Lol
Hi, Dan. This may be off-topic, but can you tell me where the DMTL pump is located on an '04 Landrover Discovery?

Same problem, i replace the fuel level sender too and still the ligth of "no fuel" it´s on...

Could’ve you acces the gas tank from inside the car like a 2009 Range Rover
So where did you get that part for that
Link is in the description, or you can go to a land rover dealer.
Thanks for watching!
