It's been far too long since I've visited your channel. Consider that fixed! It's good to see you my friend. Water is an issue in most of the USA. Lets hope that it changes soon!
I had no idea you were having a drought there in WVa. So many other areas are getting too much rain, especially with hurricane Debby. I hope you got some rain this weekend. I'm praying for you. ❤🙏🙏❤🐖🐷
Gonna have to steal Squealy Dan! 😂😂😂 We have the same issue in middle GA. Finally got 1/4 inch last night. Luckily, all the animals are within 200ft of the well house. Hope we all get some good rain soon!
After two full summers of having to constantly run my sprinklers to keep my lawn from going dormant, I haven't had to water once this year. June & July I believe set records. Thankfully the end of July and now August it's been far better. Hopefully the stuff starts making it's way down your area.
Your tank has what appears to be a cam lock connection, you can find them at rural king. I built a booster pump in a Stanley toolbox, it’s a pump, check valve, pressure switch, LiPo battery and charge controller. I can run for quite a while on a battery, or indefinitely with a solar panel. When irrigating it pressurizes the hose and shuts off, turns on when the water starts flowing. For transferring water it just runs.
We are also in a severe drought this year in east TN! Everytime there is rain in the forecast it disappears or is very scattered and we get none of it!
Hey Troy, if you need to bring your pigs to Southeast Kentucky, you can. We have had 2 inches of rain the last two days and there was plenty more before that.
This drought has been awful. It's prompted me to make changes. got the overflow from the cistern run down a pipe to the pigs & goats. Got a ball valve tying it into the main water line too so i can fill tanks and even hook a hose up if it's not over flowing. My uncle's overflow is going into a tank for the cows. Tied in a new spring, 1100 feet of pipe. Now we've got 3 running in. Just a trickle but it keeps the tank full. Next up is a spare tank for more storage.
Good idea , but the stream will fill it back in with gravel and sand eventually . However , digging a hole adjacent to the stream bed , and , deeper than the stream bed , might just be a more permanent solution, either a pond or just a well he can pump from . There can be several feet of gravel to several dozen feet or more , between the stream bottom and bedrock , and , even when the stream bed itself is dry , the sediments below it are often saturated .
Have you considered building dams or any sort of catchment all down the creek absent restrictive regulation on natural watercourses? Here in Québec they regulate that. Test the water before you dive in. :) We've had the heat and enough rain, a few times way too much. The slaughter pigs have gloried in their sizable puddle.
Id just watch the hogs . If there is any spot that is damp , the hogs will make a wallow there . I know of a lot of springs that supply drinking water , that started out as a hog wallow because they found a damp spot . They are often better than a dowser , because they will show you where the water is that DOESNT need a well driller .

Hope you got plenty of rain from Debbie

Squealy Dan! Love it!
Pray you all get rain soon.
Hey Troy, I love watching your hog videos!
We’ve been about right for rain here in Missouri. I’ll surely not complain as we had the drought last year.

Use the dry spell to dig or scrape a deeper spot in the creek bed? To hold water 💧

Chicagoland has had a cool wet August. Very abnormal. Best of luck.
I ran into similar issue last year...now Ive enclosed me pond and a spring inside the pig area...which is now basically half my farm lol

Nice video.

Seems to be wet where it's usually dryer and dry where it's usually wetter this summer. Must be HAARP 😂
We were dry until Debby hit. We were on the edge of the storm so we only got 7/8's of an inch out of it.
Dig a deeper spot near the culvert?

How's the humidity, would fog nets help water harvesting? Would the return be worth the effort?

what West Virginia calls a flat spot Florida calls a hill
and raining here now.
Drought is definitely one of the biggest downsides of raising your own animals
How has the home well handled the drought? Any loss in flow or GPM? Can’t remember if you had a natural spring on the property.
are you still fermenting the feed with water? "don't want any comments about my ability to siphon a garden hose" classic
We only ferment for our feeders. Our breed stock just get the dry feed
Open up another spring
