Hey Lars. No, it was actually a 787-9 on both flights. I'm an Av-geek and always keep tabs on these things. That's why it's also even more confusing what seat you will get, as DOH-CPH was the exact same plane as DOH-SGN, but different cabins.

QR have ordered 60 B787 made up of 30 B787-8 all with the 22 seat reverse heering bone configuration, and last aircraft delivered around 7-8 years ago. Registrations, A7-BCA - A7-BDD Also included are 30 B787-9, first delivery around 2021 when they introduced the mini q-suite from the very first -9 delivery Only 18 have been delivered to date A7-BHA - A7-BHR ,and 12 deliveries remain. There are NO B787-9 aircraft with the old seat in QR fleet. Easily checked on their own website. You traveled on 5th Oct 2024 according to the boarding gate sign. On that day the aircraft from CPH-DOH was a -9 (A7-BHN) and the aircraft from DOH-SGN was a -8 (A7-BDB) according to Flightradar24. The same reverse herringbone from the -8 is also found on A380 and some A350/B777 still. There is no reason for anyone to fear old seat style on -9 and also no reason to expect mini q-suite on -8 as that doesn’t exist either.

Hmm.. I don't think so. If you look at two round trip business class tickets from CPH to SGN the price is between 6.000-7.000€, so we paid 1700€ for our economy tickets, and then if you imagine an 1100€ upgrade per leg it's going to be nearly the same, and that's provided they offer the upgrade at this price. On our return flight they offered us insane upgrade prices so high that it was the same as purchasing the ticket in the airport ON THE DAY. Suffice to say, we flew economy back 🤣😢

I have flown 350.000+ miles on QR Business and having late aircraft swaps for some reason have not been a thing for me at least. Their "QSuite lite" on the Dreamliner is probably the worst seat for someone who's almost 1.90 - super uncomfortable. Otherwise I think the configuration you had (and I guess what the same from CHP) is quite nice as the cabin feels much larger and is perfect for "shorter" flights to DOH (I fly from ARN mostly) Didnt know these upgrades does not come with lounge access, but QR is weird in their lounge access. Hey. Interesting that the Adient Ascent isn't ideal for taller people. I only had 2 minutes in the seat so didn't have time to thoroughly evaluate it, but it just looked and felt super nice. I couldn't really tell the difference between that and QSuite, if you forget the couple's bed option which is only available on every second row of the middle seats. Interesting that AY does not come with lounge access. That's kind of ridiculous. In my opinion there is a Qatar Airways before the World Cup and after the World Cup. Things have definitely gotten much more expensive and limited after they hosted it, but I guess they have to earn money, as it's my understanding that everything leading up to the World Cup was part of the marketing effort. I remember paying less than 2K€ to upgrade DOH-MEL and MEL-DOH for two people. That's an epic deal considering it's a 15 hour flight on the A380 with their flying bar. Gosh, that was a fun experience!

Your get Al Mourjan access. but me as a QR Platinum also have access to Al Safwa even if I fly business, but not on AY... QR have a nice campaign during the summer, was able to fly to BKK for 1500 euro In business. And as QR flies A380 I got a free upgrade to first class. not bad for 1500

Yeah, we actually kind of knew this even before upgrading. We just hadn't been ruthlessly rejected like this before, so it hit our egos very hard 🤣
Your flight CPH-DOH was on a 787-9, however the flight DOH-SGN was a 787-8 hence the older style seats.
