Rays Kevin Cash Ejected Because The Yankees Did Not Retaliate Against His Player (according to umps)

- Опубліковано 5 тра 2023
- Tampa Bay Rays hosting the New York Yankees. During the 5th inning Rays Manager Kevin Cash is ejected, here is a quick overview of what took place leading up to the ejection.
First inning Arozarena will hit one to deep right center to put the Rays on the board first. Onto the 3rd inning, his next at bat during the 3rd inning, Diaz will drive one over the wall to straight away center. Next up, Franco will hit a ground rule double as this ball bounces over the left field fence. Now the next at bat Arozarena would take on high and tight to the ribs from Brito. Moving to the 5th inning, Arozarena would get hit again, almost in the same location. The umpires would get together and issue warnings. Rays manager would come out to the field not understanding why the Yankees pitcher wasn’t ejected, so he himself gets ejected. Seems about right.

This is why the designated hitter rule sucks big time. Put pitchers in the batter's box and let them take their medicine for throwing at batters.

LOL yeah, no NL pitcher has ever thrown at a batter intentionally.

It's impressive how cowardly umpires can be. This is a great way to potentially create a fight between the teams.

It's a two seamer with arm side run. He didn't throw directly at him. The ump behind the plate can see the action on the baseball. The first one definitely. The second was the baseball gods.

Should have.
I would definitely make sure my catcher moved out of the way for the best fastball my pitcher could make to the face of the umpire.
Arozarena lived up to the name of your channel- Nonsense!
😂 that’s what I try to post, the nonsense of sports, never a dull moment. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Randy you're AWESOME mi amigo!!! 👍🏻
The simple fact is one base awarded for a hit pitch has never been enough.
Randy showed control, very frustrating,a warning should have been given the 1st time he was hit, probably wouldn't have happened the 2nd time!
Arozerana is a chooch
He deserved to get drilled after that stunt of stopping and folding his arms and staring at the Yankee dugout after his dinger. He started the whole fuckin' thing with his act. I'm a Yankee hater, but I think I might drill him EVERY TIME he's at bat the rest of the year. That was a bush league move.
I think he was arguing that and the rays get a warning….double whammy
Arozarena is a D***Head. What did he think was gonna happen ? A s long as it’s not near the head. Bryan MCann would been waiting for him home plate.
For the rest of the year the Yankees should hit him everytime he comes up.
i just can't believe umps are allowed to just toss people from a game on a whim. i can't think of another sport that this happens. they essentially control the flow of the game and it goes completely unchecked.
Every other game
The NBA is close with the leeway they have for handing out technicals. Although, they generally just call the game differently against a guy who hurts their feelings. At least umps tend to keep their strike zone the same regardless of beef.
These ejections have been detrimental to the game. Hit by a pitch does not warrant an ejection. Neither does pleading a case for your team. The umpires should be ejected for many of these. There was no attempt to avoid being hit by the pitch. He stood in and took it. He's as much at fault as the pitcher. I am dismayed by the destruction of a great game by these type of calls.
I've never understood the whole "hit a home run or do well and we retaliate by throwing at players" crap. I've never in my lifetime thrown at a person intentionally even when playing at the collegiate level. That's a level of professionalism and a standard all pros should hold.
It’s not because he hit a home run. It’s because he did that stupid arm cross move right toward the yankee dugout. Then he took a fastball to the ribs lol
Yeah the first run and the stop at 3rd for the photo op. Then the slow trot on the 2nd hit.

Ever notice how Kevin Cash always looks like he's pleading with umpires and not arguing with the way his hands always are lol.
Do we know what the coach said to the ump? Because the coach can be taking his case to the umpire and that's the right thing for him to do, but he can say all the wrong things up there. He can totally get himself throwin out despite having a good cause.
More times than not it's just Umps being giant fucking premodonnas and not wanting to get called out for their bullshit or even admit they fucked up. If an Ump tosses a manager IMMEDIATELY after an obvious bad call, it's the Ump trying to get out of getting chewed out and not wanting to even acknowledge the POSSIBILITY that they messed up.
clearly the game plan is to pitch arozarena inside, sometimes you get hit with a ball, if they were trying to hit him on purpose it would have drilled him in the back, when you pitch inside there's a chance you will get hit with the ball. I understand cash is upset, but clearly as you see the catcher setup inside its just a ball that ran too far in, they're not gonna pitch a guy who just blasted a homer on a ball that was on the outer half of the plate outside again. people who dont understand this, clearly haven't been watching baseball, stop thinking they did this dumb crap on purpose. balls do get away from pitchers, it happens, no one is perfect. the same batter got hit twice in Phillies/Dbacks game earlier this season, again, the game plan was to pitch inside, it happens, its not on purpose, its called not pitching in the outer half of the plate where guys can get the barrel out on the ball & get extended. I can't believe im explaining this to you all like your children, but here we are in 2023, talking to you dummies who dont understand baseball & pitching.
So much for protecting the players
Even so much for me protecting my favorite players and celebrities from those idiotic social media trollers whom I tend to scare them off. 😂
Stuff like this only strengthens the idea that the MLB hates the Rays.
True and I watched this live and I still come back to this video to remind myself from time to time.
Randy is one of the most genuine players in the game. He’s never taunted an opposing team or talked sh*t, but he still has fun with his team and interacts with fans positively. He was celebrating with his 3rd base coach on the first homer. When you hit him twice with fastballs and he doesn’t say a word, you know you’ve got the wrong guy.
I agree Randy shouldn't have even been hit once, but I do want to comment on the "celebrating a home run" thing. Context has lost its way because home runs are not a rare occurrence and in fact happen all the time by most players in today's game. For instance, in 2019 there nearly 7,000 home runs hit across the league... that should not require nearly 7,000 celebrations. Walk offs, go aheads, or any other late game home run to make the score close, that's when you should celebrate and make the moment about yourself and your team, but not so much in the 2nd inning of a game in May. What exactly are you celebrating in that moment when you're going to hit 20 more of those this season? The worst is when your team is down by a lot of runs and you hit a meaningless solo home run and still celebrate it by doing your little dance around 3rd base... that's when it's actually embarrassingly hilarious.
The whole culture of "not showing up a pitcher" is lame af. If pitchers don't wanna see people celebrate, don't give them a reason to celebrate. You messed up, gave the hitter a pitch he could crush, and now you're mad at him for scoring? Be mad at yourself.
@K J - Sure, pitchers shouldn't get angry and hit people, but hitters should also stop acting like selfish "look-at-me" divas every single time they do anything. I once saw Marcel Ozuna stop and do his "selfie" thing halfway to first base after a solo home run in the 8th inning of a game the Braves were losing by 10. Freddie Freeman was not happy and let him know about it when he got back to the dugout and Ozuna didn't seem to care (so much so, he went and beat the crap out of his woman). And actually, it seems like a lot of the Latin hitters are guilty of this... they don't seem to care that their team is losing, just as long as they get to make the moment about themselves.
@@chili015 but pitchers are just as bad seems like everyone celebrates striking out a batter to end the inning
@@FrWiy-cf6vz - This is completely untrue. You see 1 pitcher a game who maybe does it at the end of an inning and it's almost always some middle-reliever. You almost never see starters do it unless it's late in the game in a big moment. When was the last time you saw Jacob deGrom celebrating a strikeout? Plus, in total there are 15-20 strikeouts every game, you don't see 15-20 celebrations... you see maybe 1. If there are 5 home runs in a game, you can bet you're going to see at least 4 celebrations, even if their team is losing.
After the second hpb, a battery should be permitted one swing at the pitcher, any body pay. Pitcher be required to them finish the entire game or it becomes a forfeit.
Just another example of how bad the umpires have been. Absolutely disgraceful.
Was he hit any more times during the game?
Some of these umps are just crazy.
Where is the part where the umps say it was 'because the yankees didn't retaliate against his player'
like the title suggests
It’s not there but there is some truth to it. The Crew Chief said something to the effect of “half my crew said they didn’t think it looked intentional”. Kevin Cash responded by saying “I don’t give a shit what half your crew saw”, and then got tossed. This is according to him in the postgame interview.

This is why pitcher should bat in both leagues. If you want to throw at someone go ahead, but you'll be standing the batter's box too at some point. And if not you, one your pitcher's will be. Do you want a fastball to the elbow as a pitcher? I doubt it.

Very next time the Skankeez are at bat, the first pitch would go right into the NY dugout
Seems like the umpires are always causing chaos with bad calls at the plate they are too quick to eject someone for trying to resolve an issue they are way out of line.
It’s because he didn’t want his team to get a warning if they felt like it wasn’t retaliation cause the rays did and they wanted to throw at them but now they can’t or they’ll get thrown out because they already have a warning
The next Yankee up to bat would be getting a baseball in his ear.

All those umpires should be sent to the minors. Terrible judgement.
Umpires of late have really sucked.
I'd rather listen to a fart explosion in a public bathroom than the guy they got on the mic doing these games for the jays. Holy sh!t man.
So headhunting is okay per these umpires
The Rays should not demand P get ejected--they're using him for batting practice. Although, as a lifelong Yankees fan, that was a blatant plunk job.
Every professional sport celebrates whether its a TD, interception, goal, etc. So why is it such a horrible thing if baseball does it? It actually provides a needed energy to the game and makes the sport more entertaining. All you old heads need to get over yourselves with "this is how its been since the beginning". Its called evolution and just like everything else, baseball is evolving, like it or not.
That first one sounded like it hit the bat, not an elbow. That or he's got something in that elbow that's harder than bone.
Elbow pad.
Diehard Yankee fan here and this ejection is complete BS, much like umpiring has become.
In days gone by, batters did whatever they could to avoid being hit. Today, they stand there daring the pitcher to throw at them. Pitchers like Drysdale or Gibson would never make it in today's game - not because they didn't have the talent, but because they would routinely deck any batter juvenile enough to show off, and spend most of their time suspended. But this is today, and the game is played by mental toddlers, not men.
I don 't see it as intentional. They were just 2 seamers that ran in a little too much. There are unspoken rules when you're intentionally throwing at a hitter, you do it on the first pitch of the at bat if you miss you miss, you've forfeited the opportunity to. Can't expect a batter to just sit there while you're toying with him, thats how players really get hurt!!
Time to buzz the tower. Fully believe if you are hit on purpose you should be able to throw the bat at the pitcher. Eye for an eye.
first one looked like an accident, second one looked on purpose to me
