Sun drives the water cycle. Sun heats water in all water bodies like oceans and seas and water turns water vapor into the air. This process is called evaporation.
Do you know, even plants sweat? Water from the plants also get released to air as vapor due to heat. This process is called transpiration.
Water vapor being lighter than air rise higher and condense to form clouds.
Water droplets in cloud may grow as a result of additional condensation of water vapor when the particles collide and finally precipitation happens. Water falls down from the clouds in the form of rain, hail or snow. This process is called precipitation.
Some rain water seep through the soil to form under ground water. Rest of the water flows back into the river, lake and sea. Again the cycle continues.
This continuous movement of water within the Earth and atmosphere is called water cycle.
