Not gonna lie I wasn't sure if I was gonna like the shape of that when I seen you start the cut but it does look really good on that bike, nice work dude🤙
Did my XV1100 yesterday. I fitted a second hand fender ( just in case lol ) Most 'difficult' part was getting the line right. Half a roll of masking tape and lots of sitting back looking at it I made the cut. Very happy with the result. Good to see you showed cleaning up the edges and protecting with paint too.
Wow ,super job. When I first gazed at your project I thought it was a 57 Sportster. You sure got some guts, I want to do it, and you and a couple of other fellows that have done it sure make it look easy.
Thanks mate! I have had a 69 xlch sportster and it was a beautiful bike so if Gilby looks like that I'm happy! It's easy mate nothing you do on a bike wrong can't be fixed!!
That is a $29 grinder from super cheap auto or Bunnings! Don't think you've gotta have the best bro I've done all my bikes with hand tools! The worst that happens is you screw up and have a second go shorter or you go to the wreakers to buy another guard! Everything can be fixed man! 👍👍👍👍👍
@@iRidetas yeah that's super cheap, I can def swing that. I'm not so worried about the tools as much as I am about the cutting line on the fender. I think I'll have a tough time with that cut and making it even.
Nice cutting job. I plan to do the same on my Sportster. Where are you putting your plate and brake light at? I picked up a side mount plate with a brake light mounted to it.
Looks great mate im just starting a 1978 cx500 so im going to do same on the front fender back one is going ,,just one thing get a gard on grinder i seen my mate loose 2 finngers cos no gard not worth it bud loz uk
No problem fella, also works on those tank badges. I’m in UK now but lived in Oz for 10 years. Friend of mine moved to Taz to work for Windscreen company and think he started up a boat yard and his folks a small hotel. His names Matt Chapman, great guy.
iRidetas just another tip. Use a heat gun or hair dryer like he said but then use really strong fishing line and run it behind the badges. They'll cut right off there without marking the paint at all. It's a trick my dad showed me years ago and it's never failed.
Hi, I want to cut the rear fender on my honda rebel 500 2018, i just want to know if this could be dangerous or not because i use the rear seat once in a while
@@iRidetas hey, how are you doing my friend, thanks for answer. I use the passenger seat once in a while so i mean if i cut the fender, could it lose structural strength? Because it has a bracket too.
Tas got a tip for ya :) .. yet again ofc haha .. IF u wanna remove markings like that ..wich you where using a razorblade for .. try using a heat gun .. heat it up slowly .. then it will lift right off :)
Nice Job iRide. An official bobber it is now too. Sooo, what u bringing in march? I now have a Huuuuuuge garage/workshop to park ya Bike in. (spoiler alert for upcoming vid) Have a great day & RSOT >:)
+MrFalloffalot CrashTestDummy TV lol yup gilby is a bobber now fof sure! Im actually flying across 😕 so unfortunately no bikes but im keen to catch up if you can handle meeting up with a muppet on public transport or borrowing his parents car!!! Ooo new shed sounds awesome. Looking forward to that video! :)
2:51 if that rear turn singnal could talk it would be sh*tting its pants :')))) Nice work, anyway! I personally prefere no rear fender at all on a bobber but that's just me, and besides I remember you saying it's not "cop friendly" in australia. It's still pretty awesome nonetheless
iRidetas I get it though, it stops it chewing your balls of if you hit a hard bump😂, I'm guessing the guys who made the law had it happen to them, most politicians have no balls😂
Not gonna lie I wasn't sure if I was gonna like the shape of that when I seen you start the cut but it does look really good on that bike, nice work dude🤙
You did that cut well. It’s a nerve wracking moment when you take to the grinder!

Thanks mate glad you liked the vid and maybe found it useful! Glad you nailed your fender cut! 👍😀

Easy job! You should go for it mate!
@@iRidetas would love to but I lack the tools... might look into it thou. Appreciate the reply brother

Mate i dont sorry! Im no help but good luck with it!
Looks awesome!!! Great cut! Great job mate!
+BigBadWolfMoto thanks mate. I was happy with the line i made and the angle of the cut. I think it worked out well!
Nice one, mate! I am thinking about chopping the fender on my Triumph like that as well, but not sure if i have the confidence yet xD
Awesome. Go for it mate! Triumphs look great with bobbed guards!
@@iRidetas I knows it's just a scary thing to do.. but it pays off I guess :D
For sure! It's hard to take a angle grinder to a perfectly good bike. But pay off is worth it for sure
Great video , what did you use to paint on after under the cut and why, thanks again
What kind of discs did you use on the angle grinder? looks great
Normal off the shelf cutting disc. Nothing fancy or unusual!
iRidetas thanks for the quick reply. I’m gonna try this out tomorrow morning 🤞🏽
Good luck, it's an easy job!

@@iRidetas thanks man 👍🏻
That look awesome Thanks for the video.
No worries mate!
I want a yamaha bolt r spec and I might just cut the stock fender too
Bolt has metal fenders for just that reason
Dam good, I really like how this is going
Thanks mate PLENTY more episodes from there!!
I like the look. very nice.
+02bigkev thank you Kev im really happy with how its coming out! 😁
Cool
Thanks
Great bike dude. Next time with decals heat with a hair dryer first. That way they peel off easier and don’t tear so much.
Thanks mate, great tip cheers! 😀

What is "safe" is purely up to you mate
@@iRidetas hey, how are you doing my friend, thanks for answer. I use the passenger seat once in a while so i mean if i cut the fender, could it lose structural strength? Because it has a bracket too.
That looks surprisingly good nice work. Thanks for the video.
No worries
Hairdryer and a thick guitar pick works great to remove decals
THE BOSS great idea mate! Thanks!
How glam guitarists remove stickers😂
Looks good to me
Thanks!
Another Coolio transformation mate✊
Thanks doti its coming on now! 😁
You guys have fender requirements down under???
Yeah strict fender requirements unfortunately! And its very wet where i live!
What are the colors for the fender? i do have the exact same bike. would be nice to know!
Google for the year model paint code!
What about the overspray on the concrete mate, my missus would kill me.....😁
Hahaha true but the secret weapon here is im building this for my wife....so she over looks the over spray.....😉 wink
Nice!
Thanks
Well right 4 the problem in plain sight on the fender itself, it says Yamaha rather than Ducati
Haha 🤣 that wasnt the brand i was expecting you to say as i started reading that comment!! You have great taste!
Hi!
You maybe remember a color code of paint then you use?
Nope sorry
Use a hair dryer to soften those stickers then easily peel off
hi can you or any one els tell me what the rods are instead of the shocks please.
Hardtail struts
Can you add a link for the number plate holder/rear light

Who is this Bob that everyone keeps talking about?
Definitely needs a wider tire no in the rear like 180
Yeah, naaah
let me know when you got some spare parts you can send my way 😂😂😂
+lazy boy Rider lol sure theres half a guard on the garage floor you can have!! 😜

Awesome DIY ^^V
Keith Wong thank you. Im really happy with how it is coming on! 😁
Well shit, guess I'm chopping mines soon
Go for it mate. Piss easy!
Youd have been smart to get a side mount for the license plate
Keep watching the series
Hope u cleared it can’t watch u cut towards yourself anymore
Thanks for the tip mate, not sure how i made it to 40 without the youtube safety crew!!!! 😜😜 cheers
iRidetas Yea wish i got here sooner i could have been the youtube shed crew too before you cut your hand in the “shed”
Anyway, you can comment me back I want to Bob mine, but still keep the rigidity to have someone on the back I live in shitty California
If you cut back to where the under fender stops you shouldnt loose any rigidity matw!
👀 As long as u cut it then its fine ..Not cutting it and its not a bobber..once u cut it ..Its a Bobber fuck anyone else opinion
A real bobber has no guards. Aussie laws suck, look suck tho bruh
Yup Australian laws are too strict. Its very wet where i live so i wouldnt be running it with no guards anyway but a little shorter would be cool
iRidetas I get it though, it stops it chewing your balls of if you hit a hard bump😂, I'm guessing the guys who made the law had it happen to them, most politicians have no balls😂
i wouldnt reccomend this for anything that has a paintjob. The finishing will most of the time look terrible.
+Dank Souls Ive never had any trouble on the guards ive cut!?
