I just cut my baffles out on the exhaust i feel like you dont have to add those lollipops. It really enhances the sound just leaving it open. Sounds pretty mean now!
The baffles had been crudely pulled from mine by a previous owner. I removed the rest of the plate and left them open. Just richening it up a little stopped the lean popping. I honestly haven’t noticed any decrease in power, not that these have a heap anyway. Might give this a try and see if it makes a difference. As always, a nice video explained clearly . Thanks iRide.
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed! I found the air fuel needed 1/2 a turn to make it richer and then it ran great. The lollipops seem to take the slight tinny sound i have heard out too!
Idk if you can help, but I tried doing this on my Honda Rebel 250. The baffles plates on each exhaust were successfully removed but the baffle itself is STUCK with an emphasis on the stuck in the exhaust. I tried with all my might to pull them out with pliers and they won’t budge! Do you have any advice?
I used vice grips on another bike that happened to. Locked them on and went back forward, and tried to twist and I rocked the baffle back forward and out it came. I'm not sure you'd be able to get a firm enough grip with just pliers mate!
Would you say this would work on the virago 125 model? Is there any point of doing it on the dummy pipe too? Also it was way louder than the drilled ones yes or no? Also one more. If I do this. I have to make one of those lollipops so some back pressure and adjust the fuel screelw thing you said. And if I do that would I lose power compared to stock?
1 Yes 2 yes as the dummy pipe is at the front the real.pipe is behind it and then they both go to a mixer underneath snake through both exhausts, so drill both. Rev the bike and you will feel exhaust from both. 3 yes 4 yes 5 no you won't loose power imo
@@iRidetas so is this the same loudness as the other straight pipe exhaust you bought or quieter. I want to make louder but not like straight piping. I have the holes in already but sounds like a whistle
I am so gonna do this on my 250cc virago as well. Thanks mate, ve'been searching for a low cost better sound. Really love your videos . Greetings from Greece :)
Excuse my ignorance, but what are "lollipops?" Sounds good for a small bike, but is this just a cheap alternative to buying a better sounding tail pie (silencer). I appreciate it sounds better than standard... Please educate me?
Not sure i get the question mate sorry, but thanks for leaving it. Its budget bobber build so yes its a cheap alternative to the $500ish straight pipes on the market. Thats exactly what it is. The lollipops are to provide a small amount of back pressure to help the bike run. Thanks for watching mate cheers!
Very cool guide! I have a few questions before I do this mod to my XV250: What size washers / hardware did you use for your lollipops? Is there a reason you used two sets of washers per lollipop instead of just one big washer?
Brandon Storer thanks. Nope no real reason just used what the local hardware store had. You will find big washer big hole so needed a smaller washer at the front and back to bring it down to the m6 bolt and nut size that was all!
Caseys Ghost im not sure mate sorry i have no experience with honda rebel but gutting the exhaust would work on a lot of bikes. The adjustment, need to jet etc. Would be different on different bikes
i just wonder, how is this lollipops mod sounds compare to your slash cut pipe from ebay? how come you don,t have lost of power in slash cut, you don't put in lollipops on your slash cut sir?
If I kelp the stock pipes I prob would done this cool mod also, but I made homemade straight pipes and jetted mine, This is a great video iRidetas, I dropped a like
Are you worried at all about re-sell value from drilling the baffles out of the stock pipe? Do you think it'd still pass a rwc? Either way thanks for the video mate! Looking to do a virago build for my missus too. Shoutout from Melbourne
Lionel Kiernan nah mate not worried at all about resale value. Nothing on these bikes are expensive or difficult to come across to replace. Tasmania doesnt have yearly inspections so whilst it wouldnt pass not overly worried about it as my wife keeps it registered!
Yeah pretty much doti. At a piont where i cant leave the bike alone!!! I was suprised how easy the baffles came out but the length doest show why thd xv is the quietest bike in the world *no data to back that statement up!!
Dummy pipe is the big silver one under the seat into the top can. The real one comes out the back of port down in frame then to a 2 to one then snakes through the two cans.
normally back pressure should be ok, maybe carb runs poor because you also have an aftermarket filter on... ( or im just giving excuses to myshelf to not do the bolt thing... :D
Symmetry but also from memory it was a few years ago, the gasses snake through both exhausts the faux pipe is the top one to the rear but there is a smaller diameter one underneath.
Yeah imo urban myth, doesnt help them see you they will still be on their phones. You will be invisible I ride like every car will pull out on you and try and kill you.
love your videos man, inspired me to work on my own xv250. Nice to see some smaller bikes get some love. Cheers from the US!
Thanks mate, glad you enjoy the vids. These are just great little bikes to work on! Im not sure why they dont get more love!
i cant believe how easy that was and the sound is awesome
I just cut my baffles out on the exhaust i feel like you dont have to add those lollipops. It really enhances the sound just leaving it open. Sounds pretty mean now!
It depends on how many baffles you cut and the bike does run better with a bit of back pressure
Lol!! Ya, I’ve heard that “10 min job” before too!! 😂😂... awesome job Chris, truly a bad ass frickin cool bike and mods!!
Haha thanks yeah its always a quote 10 min job quote!! 😜😜
That sounds much better than the 4 holes! Awesome! I'll give it a go!
Man that sounds like a beast now! Nice job mate.
Thanks! Yeah sounds suprisingly mean for a 250!!

@@iRidetas hey man, not sure if its a 1/2 turn to the left or the right?
Out = richer
In = leaner
I gsve it half turn out!
@@iRidetas I really appreciate this. Thanks!!
ua-cam.com/video/9JbXgRuwM0Y/v-deo.html check this one out for full exlanation man!
Do the lollipops serve a purpose besides making it look like it has mufflers? Or could you run them open?
You could run them open, the idea of the lollipops was a bit of back pressure.
have done that, but theres a second diafragm. Ill try to remove that also, what do you think?
Remove as many baffles as you like mate! 👍👍
Idk if you can help, but I tried doing this on my Honda Rebel 250. The baffles plates on each exhaust were successfully removed but the baffle itself is STUCK with an emphasis on the stuck in the exhaust. I tried with all my might to pull them out with pliers and they won’t budge!

Nice work mate sounds great 👍
Thanks mate!

Louder than holes not as loud as straight pipes
@@iRidetas this should be my next mod
@@iRidetas does it matter how big the washers are or the amount I need to use?
I am so gonna do this on my 250cc virago as well. Thanks mate, ve'been searching for a low cost better sound. Really love your videos . Greetings from Greece :)
Thanks mate for the kind words. Go for it. It was suprisingly easy! May need to turn your air fuel out to richen it 👍👍

Is this fuel injection because I noticed it was sounding great with no jet work

Would this method be useful on a 125? Bike in question is a Honda Rebel 96. Also.. how much power would be lost without the lollipops?
Caseys Ghost im not sure mate sorry i have no experience with honda rebel but gutting the exhaust would work on a lot of bikes. The adjustment, need to jet etc. Would be different on different bikes
iRidetas well it worked. Without the need for lollipops and re-jetting too. I added a video onto your Facebook post
Just watched it man. Sounds great!
i just wonder, how is this lollipops mod sounds compare to your slash cut pipe from ebay? how come you don,t have lost of power in slash cut, you don't put in lollipops on your slash cut sir?
Slash cuts deeper and louder. I run baffles in the slash cuts!
@@iRidetas thank you!
If I kelp the stock pipes I prob would done this cool mod also, but I made homemade straight pipes and jetted mine, This is a great video iRidetas, I dropped a like
Thanks james. Your pipes sound amazing bro. A real treat to hear them on the video you made!
Thanks, they sound better if you riding the bike :P
wouldn't minds seeing your mate

its in the video and its written in the description!!!
Thats awesome mate. You need to rejet? Or carburate again?
Its in the video, A/F screw adjusted

Ah okay no worries! thanks again for the great videos mate! Safe to say we're both copin a bad one weather wise today!
My pleasure glad you enjoy them!
Coolio mate. Never realised the baffles were so long, lol. Likening the lollipop idea. Was it just the idea you had to fettle.
Tcrs fella ✊
Yeah pretty much doti. At a piont where i cant leave the bike alone!!! I was suprised how easy the baffles came out but the length doest show why thd xv is the quietest bike in the world *no data to back that statement up!!
What size whole saw did you use?
44mm
iRidetas thanks man! From Indiana USA! Love your bike, I have a 2003 gonna give it a shot! Thanks..
Coyote Hills no worries at all. Enjoy. You may need to tweek the air fuel to richen it up!
iRidetas yes that’s what I understand but not sure which screw that is... 1/2 turn left or right?
Coyote Hills check out my tune a xv250 vid and its that screw left or out i did half turn
sounded like my dentist's office 😂✌, Rsmf
Freedom Rider
Lol! 😬 i hate dentist for that reason!!
iRidetas keep up the great work✌ Rsmf...

Thomas Bousquet thanks man! You too!

thought the "top" pipe was the "dummy" pipe .. or am i wrong ?
Dummy pipe is the big silver one under the seat into the top can. The real one comes out the back of port down in frame then to a 2 to one then snakes through the two cans.
I didnt get the eye bolt thing. Is it illegal there to remove the buffles, so that's why you put them?
As mentioned back pressure.
Great job, but is your Mrs going to like it when she rides it hahahahah!
OldManTony lol funny!! She thinks its awesome!!!
iRidetas Thanks a relief, I as worried she wouldn’t appreciate your hard work!
As a sensible man i asked her permission before chopping up her bike!
iRidetas 😂😂😂😂😂
Is this legal in tas?
Not sure, im not bothered. Its all at your own risk mate!
normally back pressure should be ok, maybe carb runs poor because you also have an aftermarket filter on... ( or im just giving excuses to myshelf to not do the bolt thing... :D
since the top exsults is a fake pipe why do you have to drill out the baffle, the bottom one the only one you have to drill out right
Symmetry but also from memory it was a few years ago, the gasses snake through both exhausts the faux pipe is the top one to the rear but there is a smaller diameter one underneath.
Must not want to take lollipops put again because red loctite😂😂😂
Lol yeah didnt want them vibrating loose and falling out or rattling 😂
A noisy bike is a safer bike cars hear you coming
Yeah imo urban myth, doesnt help them see you they will still be on their phones. You will be invisible I ride like every car will pull out on you and try and kill you.
Is that seriously all there is to it?!? You drill the plate, take the baffles out, and put in the lollipops in??
I don't think we'll ever find a way to stop these bikes sounding like a postie bike on roids 😒
ua-cam.com/video/0ckqgE92xZE/v-deo.html lol true but these sound good imo mate!
why do some people like the sound of their own voice so much
Dunno, why do people make dumb commets on youtube
