🌍 The Jurassic, an emblematic period of the Mesozoic era, is often referred to as the golden age of dinosaurs, the majestic creatures that dominated the earth's landscapes for millions of years. This era, which stretches from approximately 201 to 145 million years BC, saw the emergence and evolution of numerous dinosaur species, contributing to an unprecedented biodiversity that still fascinates paleontologists and prehistory enthusiasts today. By delving into the history of the Jurassic, we discover not only the secrets of the dinosaurs' domination of our planet, but also the mysteries surrounding their sudden extinction, an event that continues to fuel scientific debate and research.
Jurassic dinosaurs, such as the gigantic Brachiosaurus and the ferocious Allosaurus, show impressive diversity, with varied adaptations that enabled them to thrive in many environments. These prehistoric giants were not limited to formidable carnivores; many herbivorous species also shaped the ecosystems of this era, creating a complex and interdependent food chain. The study of their fossils, discovered in various geological layers around the world, offers invaluable clues to their behavior, diet and ecology.
However, the highlight of this fascinating era was the extinction of the dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous period, some 66 million years ago. This mass extinction, which also saw the disappearance of almost 75% of the Earth's species, is often attributed to global catastrophes, including a massive asteroid impact and massive volcanic aftermath. Modern research in fields such as geochemistry, paleontology and climatology continues to reveal how these events not only ended the reign of the dinosaurs, but also paved the way for the rise of mammals, including humans.
In exploring the Jurassic, we're not just looking back at a bygone era; we're plumbing the depths of our own planetary past, seeking to understand how the events of this distant era shaped the contemporary world we live in today.

    💥THE JURASSIC:
    - The first group includes conifers, also known as pinophytes. This group includes the Cheirolepidiaceae, a family that is now extinct. The Araucariaceae and Podocarpaceae, on the other hand, are still with us today.
Pinophytes are large trees. They are easily distinguished from others by their cone-shaped fruit. These cones serve as the plant's reproductive organs. On this tree, some cones are male, others female. These trees are called gymnosperms. Reproduction requires a little help from Mother Nature, particularly from the wind, but also from a few insects of the mecopteran family, which have been active since the Middle Jurassic. They also provide an ecological niche for small insectivorous animals that settle in the forest. Everything is linked in nature.
The great advantage of these pinophytes is their ability to establish themselves in a wide variety of environments, even the harshest. They have thus managed to colonize a large part of the world's landmass, even intertropical regions or salty environments, near coasts and maritime zones for example. But this is not enough to compete with angiosperms, the flowering plants that will soon occupy a large part of their territory.
In addition to pinophytes, the forest is also populated by ginkgophytes. These species of Ginkgos are the dominant trees in the canopy. They can reach heights of up to 40 metres. In this forest, we can see Ginkgo digitata and adiantoides. The digitata have fan-shaped, indented leaves. These species thrive in tropical and semi-tropical climates.

I love, love, love this channel & I really loved how you delved into what created this extinction which led to this. I dig documentaries like this because I can close my eyes and fall asleep to them however the constant background music made that impossible. Finally had to turn it off so I could go to sleep ;) Weird thing is I didn't notice the background music until I closed my eyes and instead of my brain concentrating on the words it fixated on the music instead which led me to get up to switch to a different doc & to write this.
Keep up the good work tho - you're one of my favorite channels if not my fave

I actually like the narrator's voice. People are saying it's AI, which it certainly could be, but I kind of assumed it was an accent since this channel is the English version of a parent French channel.

The weird n'ghhh enunciation every time the letter N is in a word is extremely distracting. I know this is an AI voice but there should be a way to fix that. Lots of channels use AI narration but only this one is so weird.
