I’m from the UK as well and I’ve been living and working in Jeddah for over 2 years. It’s a great place to be and as many have said, the negative media coverage is not representative of my experience. In general, the people are very kind and hospitable. The changes I’ve seen in the last 2 years are really noticeable such as an end to segregation of men and women in many places. When I first came here, all restaurants had to segregate groups of men from women. Also I’ve noticed that increasingly, some women no longer wear hijabs (head scarf). And I understand that abayas (long coat which covers from neck to ankles and arms) are not mandatory. Change will be gradual but I think these changes are welcomed by most.
Make sure that you try out snorkelling (or diving). Take a boat from Obhur; it’s a great day out and corals and sea life are amazing.

In the 13th minute, this is an African dance called Al-Mizmar, and this is because of the large number of immigrants from Africa, they transferred their culture to Jeddah, as most of the sellers in the market are Yemenis, Indians and Pakistanis, and this is because the city of Jeddah is considered the gate of the sanctuary to Mecca, so many come and pass from the pleasure of the region and many settle in and spread its culture

belakhdar mohamed abderrahmane Arab nationalism today is true it is a culture, but this does not mean that there are no indigenous Arabs .. And the Arab culture is not a mixture of cultures. This is a grave mistake and ignorance .. There are many different ethnicities in the Arab world, but there is a culture specific to the Arabs .. To be origin from African, Indian, Chinese, Kazakh, Turkish, Persian or European It is not a mistake to know yourself that you are an Arab but the wrong is to sample your culture from your country and bring it to an Arab place and attribute it and know it to foreigners and new explorers of the region as an Arab culture you must say it African, Turkish, Indian, or any place to which you originally belong, you should be proud of your origins, but you do not have the right to attribute your culture to Arabic and explain that the Arabs are basically just people and cultures blending together. You say that you are an Arab. You must adhere to the Arab culture. but don’t dare to say it’s belong to Arab culture because these nationalities still have independent countries. In this way, you steal the cultures of other peoples and the Arabs do not need to steal 😒the Arabic culture one of the richest culture in the world

It's not a bad think to be influenced from other cultures , it actually a very good thing . I'm arab btw . And again arab is not a race it's a culture most of us are brown because most of us live in a hot weather, but still there are arabs that are dark and light colored because of the climate they live in .

Hey Jason! Welcome to Saudi Arabia! I'm a Brit living in Makkah. I'm really glad you started filming here. Saudi Arabia is huge and there are plenty of historical places! I have been living here for 6 years but I am sure I will get to know more through your vlogs 🌹🌹🌹👌👌

Hi Jason! Thank you so much ! I'm very old and I have to say I would love to visit Saudi Arabia. I've actually never been there despite living a neighboring country next door. I am fascinated with the Art and culture of Jeddah. It's spectacular.

Thanks for the video allowing us to see parts of the city of Jeddah. It looks like, the areas that are designated as the world heritage sites are in desperate need of restoration. I noticed new construction going up in the background but compared the Riyadh, this city seems to be a bit behind for some reason. Preserving the old while building new may be a challenge here... I loved the fish market... views of the sunset...
