  • Thanks to everyone for all of the love and support for these videos, and thanks to those who recommended this incredible video! It's a bit shorter this week because I didn't have as much to talk about, but it was still a blast to listen to. If you enjoy the deeper analysis of my previous videos, please hop into the comments and let me know if there are any videos you want to see reactions to, especially if they have more technical complexity in their arrangements. As always, thanks so much for visiting, and I'll see you next time!

This song is perfection. It's other-worldly.
More complex...."Do You Hear What I Hear" Home Free cover. It's phenomenal. I don't care is it's a Christmas song. It's just amazing.

Pure A Capella artistry broken down to its absolute basic core! No color, no beatboxing, no video story, no distractions; only 5 beautifully talented voices in total harmonic synchronization.

DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR. PLEASE!!!!!! That arrangement will keep you busy from start to finish. As I said before, there is so much going on in DYHWIHEAR that I end up listening to it multiple times in one sitting. Never gets old.
Loved your reaction to this. What you said is all one can say. It is so beautiful that it leaves you speechless. This is what I call my straightforward songs by HF. So beautiful.

To me, this is complex in it's simplicity...
The difficulty level of this is insane!! First, you've got one lone voice, Chance, against a stark background. No accompaniment. Then there's 2 voices (when Rob joins Chance) singing in unison, perfectly, is just crazy!!! Two voices that truly sound like one. Extremely hard to do. Then the precise cutoffs with perfect synchronization. No bleeding phrase to phrase. No room for mistakes. Just quiet, staccato-like, cutoffs. Then you get to the blending & harmony as the song progresses with each level of harmony coming in, still keeping the synchronization perfect. Then, the massive bass drops!! My word!.... The entire arrangement is gorgeous. This one truly shows their skills & they must've practiced it for hours for days to get it to that level. And they do it all, remaining in black keeping it simple as not to disturb the vocal clarity. Absolutely incredible!!! This is one of my favs (can you tell? 😄) by them becuz the entire video leaves me in awe! Thx for doing this one!! Great reaction!

I love your reaction to this one!
To me, this shows that not only are Home Free fantastic, skilled at all the fluff, beatboxing, arrangements, mood setting and all that, but raw singing skills are through the roof. A song where there's absolutely nothing but one voice per member, a singing track and that's it, and it's done to perfection, the starts and stops are on point, they attack the same line perfectly in tune without other vocals lingering to guide them into tune - this is simply (literally) amazing!

Let's shake Home Free up a bit. Listen to Sea Shanty Mix or Butts mix. Or an original by Tim called Champagne Taste on A Beer Budget. They can be serious and hilarious both. You need the full menu of their songs. And Elvira with Oak Ridge Boys. So deep a rabbit hole.

I'm going to suggest Fishing in the Dark/Boondocks, since it's one of the songs that hooked me on Home Free for life. I think 9 to 5 has some interesting vocal percussion in it as well. And Do You Hear What I Hear is absolutely incredible, so definitely give it a listen. Also, since there are two Adams in the group, Adam Chance goes by Chance to avoid confusion.

These both have complex harmonies and are 2 of my favorites by HF. I have listened to them both multiple times and always hear something new. I finally watched Do you hear what I hear live, it was enlightening to actually be able to watch all of them singing, lol and again I heard notes I haven't heard before. Enjoy my friend!

Super simple is super hard. There is nowhere to hide mistakes. I've sung many Jacobean era church anthems as the tenor in a quartet and you practice over and over and hope that you get it half as precise as this was.

This is one of the few songs where you really can hear Adam Rupp's (the beatboxer) lovely high tenor if you listen carefully, so it's worth repeated listens to pick it out. These guys have 5-part harmony mastered!

You mentioned in your reaction to Mayday by Hime Free that they were “flexing” by showing how much technical ability and range each member had.
This is a different kind of flex.
This is, “Our unison is perfect, our voices are immaculate, our harmonies are pristine, and you’ve never heard anything like it be we are the only ones who can do it.”

The harmonies just grab my emotions and take me to a very happy place! Thank you for another wonderful reaction. It’s a beautiful piece of music. Crosby, Stills and Nash did this song in the 60’s. And Chance (Adam) directed this and wanted to do this in black and white. It’s hauntingly beautiful. You made enough comments on the bass and harmonies and a few other things which made for a nice reaction and that’s fine. It’s one of my favorites of theirs as they all sing even Adam, the beatboxer, and it’s so beautiful so most of us recommend it to new reactors. Have a good week. Try In the Blood, I Can’t Outrun You, Yours, Die a Happy Man.

Sometimes a technical dive or commentary isn't needed. I don't watch reactions for that. I watch reactions hoping to see reactors stunned speechless by what they've see or heard and hoping to see genuine emotions when a piece of music moves you so much all you can do is cry. To me those kinds of reactions are more priceless than gold. So when you don't have anything technical to comment on please don't be afraid to show how it made you feel. That has greater value, in my humble opinion.
