2012-2014 C200 & C250 1.8 CGI are solid car with good track record in terms of reliability. The styling is very neat in Avangarde or AMG trim. Original spare parts are reasonable compared to other conti cars. German Oem parts are plentiful and cheap if you are on budget. Plenty of trusted merc specialist in Klang valley offering competitive price due to competition. Used unit price ranges between 90k to 110k. Long term this is a good buy because just like W124 there will be parts to keep it going without costing arm and a leg. I have owned one for past 5.5 years and not a single breakdown. Beside the scheduled 10,000km oil change, the only unschedule trip to the mechanic was at 90,000km for abs sensor costing less than rm230 with labour. That to me is a solid car.
If budget between 100k-150k, can consider X6 diesels (xDrive30d, 35d, 40d) , Q7 3.0 TDi , Audi S4/S5 pre-FL These models mentioned are very reliable , worth the money !

I happen to own , right now, two of the aforementioned cars which are the merc c class, and an R57 ( R56 cabriolet ) cooper s ) Mini is surprisingly very reliable, very very fuel economic car until i straight piped it , make decent noise (pops and bangs), but no things falling apart so far. Harsh ride but thats because my main car is an alphard so im used to it, lovely handling tho. The merc, i hate it 😂 slow despite 2.5 V6, harsh ride, things falling apart ( the glove box ) and check engine lights on occasionally, feela cheap ( steering and some parts around dashboard)) andrrible fuel usage. Ok handling, a good around town handling cause its dead easy to drive.
Can you do an updated list please? Looking to get a new civic 1.5tc or a new hrv V spec sometime in February and are interested in the other options in the second hand market. Great video btw!

Hi Bobby, mind to share some inputs for what's to take note for if I were to get a 320D, e90 lci.? In Terms of any specific issue for this variant compared to the rest. I have considered before 325i e90, but felt that 320D could do the job, but with higher torque, lower FC & Road Tax, and still enjoy the same chassis and hydraulic steering. I drove company car 320i for few months before, which is also the e90 and I got hooked! I'm on Mazda6,GG.2.3,Y06 now but car is old now. Either I spend the money for 320D or I get a Ford Focus Sport TDCI for now and keep my dream for later. Please share some lights. Tqvm.
Get it! Got a few friends of mine who use 320d and they love it. Do have a thorough check on service records as its best to buy one who always service with BMW 4S last time because many workshops out there wont bother with the diesel fuel system components. The injectors, dpf etc. And stick to euro 5. Bro i can almost guarantee the ford's gonna cost more to maintain than the bimmer. Forget about the ford. But the 325i is a wonderful car bro. That engine sounds lovely. And i heard they are pretty reliable too. For e90 all i know from hearsay is 320i gives more issues than 325i or 320d.
Bobby Ang as much as I love revving the car, which 325i would be good at it, I have concern on the daily drive FC in Klang Valley. To me, if its more than 12ltr/100km and drive like normal speed then I'm thinking it's not that worth for me to use as everyday drive car, then I would just go for the 320D with the poisonous torques. I won't buy 320i cuz I might as well keep driving my Mazda. Thanks for pointing out on the injectors, dpf, and the euro5 fuel as I have read about those, I also heard about EGR delete. Seeing now we are having 0% gst, I am struggling in making a choice for a family car before sst is implemented. 1) Honda civic 1.5 tc --> Spacious, but I heard from some owners that the quality of the cushion is rather soft, which wouldnt be comfy for distant drive ( note that I have chronic backpain problem ) and also the leather seems to stretch more and speeds up the wear and tear. 2)Mazda 3 gvc --> Kinda cramp for 5 adults ? 3)Mazda Cx-5 2.0 GL --> Seems the best choice in terms of spaciousness and built in quality. 4)Honda CRV 2018--> Don't really fancy the design but seems practical for long term commitment since Honda has cheaper maintenance ( correct me if I am wrong ) Oh gosh ~ somebody enlighten me please ~ what is the important thing that I should take note of

W212= reliable??? My mother had such a terrible experience with her E200 CGI. After 1 year of owning it (bought in 2016), the car broke down by the roadside and sent into workshop for overhaul which costed 15k. Then just last month the ignition coil failed which caused the car to idle very harshly. the car could barely even start. replaced all 4 of them for about 2k. Lately the car has been in & out of workshop. Too many problems

After 5 years of driving from home to work..one incident force me to use moyorcycle to workplace. I admit most of the rider will not slow down when they see car giving indicator to change lane, instead they will speed up and start to honk for the car to give way. Riding in left lane all the time in traffic jam will gift headache to motorcyclist..most of the big vehicle such as lorry will block the way. (Not applicable in the wide highway). So motorcyclist tend to commute in the right lane where it has ample space to pass through. For me..dont be an asshole when u drive or ride. Just my 2cents.

Pre-facelift W204 was using the kompressor engine (supercharger) while CGI is turbo. c250 CGI imo is very reliable.
The 1.8 CGIs were stop gaps. After merc changed to 2.0 turbo they stopped calling them CGIs
