I flew Mamba as a main AX ship, if i were you, i would put the flak on one of the large HP and another class 2 gauss in the middle, this way, you will be able to hit with all gausses just like any other ship. The biggest goid i killed solo in it was the Medusa, with shield tanking, no cold orbiting.
One thing I've heard people say about it relating to it's insane speed for its size "If you are fast enough to catch me, you are not a threat. If you are a threat, I can just disengage at will." Also I like this cuz it's not the Meta Rotgoblin that the FDL is and also just look at it.
I have started referring to the mamba as the Ferrari of elite dangerous . Because it literally looks smooth like a Ferrari usually and the paint job with the red and white definitely helps sell it definitely a very pretty ship useful it varies
I've wanted you to do a mamba AXI review for awhile. I wanted to make one myself, but wanted to know if it was worth it or not. Great video and thanks a bunch!
haha yes i am getting to them. :) large ships do not make for good AX vessels in general as speed is the most valuable stat in AX combat - the cutter works somewhat but while the anaconda and corvette can be used - they are extremely limited and take a lot of effort to gain a victory. They can also not really engage multiple thargoid interceptors at once so are kinda limited to single goid fights.
GREAT VIDEO VERRY HELPFULL AND INFORMATIVE THIS IS THE SHIP IM WANTING TO TAKE AGAINST THE GOID'S ANY CHANCE AT A LITTLE HELP WITH A BUILD GUIDE ON THIS SHIP
I wonder if taking clean drives with thermal spread would help,to knock down the speed a little. Boosting helps with turns but maybe the boosting speed its giving is too much, making overshooting an issue. Still would be faster than a basi at 540 if I'm reading the EDSY right. Might be able to dial in the shots easier, but its just a theory.
One thing Ive noticed in all of your vids, how come you dont use the AX Multicannon? youd think on a ship as clunky as the Mamba, a pair of turreted AX MCs would be greatly beneficial to a pair of gauss cannons that run much hotter and miss. But Im just curious, you are the professional here lol.
Well, all I will say is that there is a reason the most difficult challenge rank in the AXI is killing a basilisk with only AX multicannons. And beyond Basilisk they are completely useless. Thargoid Hull regenerates continuously so you need to deliver enough damage quickly enough to overcome the regeneration. AX multicannons deliver damage very slowly and so are not really effective against any interceptors compared to gauss cannons. ;)
Are you guys still out in Coalsack? Cuz today i wanted to go exlopring end ended up in CSN, then i saw your video on is from a few days ago and now i wanna help
Me watching this: Oh she's going to hate how this handles without a different way of attacking Kate: Wasted opportunity Me afterwards: yep Mamba probably needs to be used like it's done in PvP, get in and smack them with Shard Launchers and a Shield (either Bi-weave and run or a Primatic)or go full reverse and snipe with Gauss Cannons. I seem to recall zaetheus used it like a blunt weapon when he did AX combat with it back in the day. (even ramming the thargoid to take it shields down) AKA the Mamba is missile, it pretty much requires you to be either an expert or to be extremely cheesy with it (but the cheese is very tasty)
While i love the Vid of the explination of the mamba and very well thought out there is one thing you mentioned that id have to disagree with.. heat management .. if anything i have found the mamba to be better than most other ships that ive flown so far in my arsenal which is only bout 7 of the full line of ships in the game . i can start a hyper jump to next system halfway through my refueling or use 3 plasmas against pirates w/o ever hitting 80% heat (unless i fire them like a machine gun) but out of them ive found mamba to be best at heat management and much much lower heat generation. I dont know what your loadout is for this build but if you need 4 heatsinks your doing something wrong. while true the mamba is terrible with maneuvering thrusters thats not what this ship is built for like you said its speed forward/reverse speed is its benefits.. fastest medium ship. but i will say superb flying however though .. tons better than me haha :).. but i love my mamba for everything from exploring to fighting pirates and xeno'ss.. cept mining however .. its lack of options def make it a super terrible cargo hauler
I ithnk you need to really read up on how AX combat works if you think the heatsinks are excessive. this is an AX build I'm glad you find the mamba suitable for your needs but yeah, you don't seem to know anything bout AX combat lol
The heatsinks are not to avoid overheating - and that isnt what we mean in the AX communtiy by 'bad heat management' They are to keep your ship heat below 20 percent while attacking to prevent the thargoid being able to lead its shots correctly. Ships that spike above 20 percent even under heatisnk cover mean you still take incoming fire suring the spikes, and with such a low level of hull protection this can lead to a very quick death against the tougher goids. So no, the heatinks are not excessive as with this weapon convergance you will need that many sinks on a Hydra heart
@@Citizen_Kate mostly your right ive only done it couple times but my flying isnt great in FA off so couldnt kill even a cyclops so i gave up tryn till i learn to keep my aim steady EDIT: also yes im aware of the purpose of keeping heat down but heat affects more than just thier ability to track you .. i wasnt meaning it as any insult .. at least wasnt my intention i was just sayn that using that many heatsinks for that isnt needed..3 shoulda been good enuf for a basi.. not sure bout that hydra one as i noticed when you fighting that thing it took a lot longer than a basi so i guess prob do .. ive never fought one and dont intend to til i can get decent at my flying.. like your level of skill flying hehe
Can't wait for the Hauler AX review.
Never thought I'd see Kate fighting Goids in the racecar of the Galaxy.
Idk about racecar. Imperial Eagle is way faster.

Hot damn, i will never be that good. It’s amazing to watch you work.

we need the big 3 ax review! gud job! o7

Awesome video. Thank you!
Wish this ship got a fighterbay, ended up with Krait MK2 but prefer the Mamba style
Impressive as always, good lady. I keep toying with FA OFF flying but as a keyboard and mouse pilot it seems a nigh on impossible task.
Great info, how would the federal drop ship fair? Or is it similar to the FAS?
Any chance of readdressing this ship with current/new AX equipment?
Try the mamba with small Gauss and large plasma chargers it works out much better 😉

first 3 fights were with clean drives
boost speed isnt the issue - the pitch and yaw falls off a cliff immediately AFTER boost
@@Citizen_Kate I see.

@@Citizen_Kate that is a very good reason, thanks for clearing that up, and consider them gone on my AX Mamba 😆

I feel like she saw a comment I left on a video, lol.
A lot of your aiming issues can be solved with gimbled weapons
they're gauss acnnons tho my dude - ain't no gimbals for gauss cannons :D
Ah, the FDL's sister ship, the POS
My Imperial Eagle is way faster. I have it fully engineered and it boosts at 748 and fully fitted for combat.
