Sheesh.. singing Haley’s vox/range is a feat in of itself. nailed it, and managed to make it your own vibe. The drum track in this song is insane too which the Drummer killed too. Awesome skills to all involved, one of my favorites.
Nah.. well is it’s possible. There might be a slight amt for the micro tuning/cents on some notes. But as someone that produces music, if you’re way off and force quantize off notes the effect is drastically noticeable with artifacts or even corrects to the wrong note. Listen closely, and you don’t hear this occurring. Plus the transition notes within phrases of the melody would be gone if the effect was strongly implemented. The melody in her cover is close to the original, and if she was way off there would also be the “tpain like effect” as it’s called. Listening to her other songs I feel she can hit these notes authentically.
Another thing to add regarding no autotune, I just listened to the original and just realized it’s in the key of Bflat minor. Maggie’s version is lower in A. So the fact they dropped the tuning a bit so that it matches her “home” range so she can hit those pitch leaps indicates this as well. Still though, a half step down tune is not a lot. The power, range, and expression that comes through in this performance demonstrates her versatility and vocal ability that most don’t possess.
