Almost makes me sad how everyone hates on him for leaving, when half of them don’t even know he left to help his kids while they grew up. I respect that choice.
Roger says a lot of really great things here... "success is living from your heart, living for your passion"... "we are here to give, rather than to take", "success is measured in how much that we give." Roger has shared much of himself, his heart and soul through his music and that is why every song is pure magic, able to connect and unite all of us in a very subtle yet significant way.
Roger is such a kind and gentle hearted human being. I am very thankful beyond words the peace of mind that his music has brought me in difficult times, he is such a genius and gifted soul that is humble and genuinely enjoys playing his music for millions all over the world..... truly an inspiration!
* LOVE * Roger Hodgson!! I really do believe he is an angel making a heaven on earth with his music:) His songs are eternal and universal in a profound way, his shows are always immensely wondrous, captivating, enthralling musical journeys that I am glad to live again and again on his world tour.
Very cool interview - for me while growing up Supertramp was a faceless band so it's great to finally see the guy behind all of the amazing songs. Really if you love Supertramp you love Roger Hodgson, i've discovered at his concerts that he is the music force and spirit of the band. I'm completely awed at how he sounds exactly the same, if not better than the original albums. Top concert experience ever.
@@cristiangamezzz4765 - I guess you would have had to have been there when Super Tramp was in its hey day ! It was magic ! And Rodger is the voice ! There will NEVER be another band like Super Tramp or another singer songwriter like Rodger Hodgeson or Rik Davies ! Listen to their music ....!
This is truly a most amazing Interview. I love how much Roger shares with all his fans. He is such a giving and caring person and as united a loving community of fans across the globe. I feel like I must have the biggest family on the planet thanks to Roger.
Family first..... life is as complicated or simple as you make it and Rodger made such talent look simple when its anything but... thank you for some of the best music thats ever been created.
Gerrit Nieuwenhuis I was 21 when I ordered SuperTramp from Columbia CD 💿 . I still have the CD & his brought so much happiness into my soul. Thank you Roger. Timeless. ♥️
There never has been nor will there ever be a band like Supertramp! Their songs played a profound role in my life. Thank you boys. I will always love you! Went through a lot of changes, turned a lot of pages, when I took a boat Sunday.
Thanks for the love and support . I decided to take out time today out of my busy schedule to get close to my fans and know their thoughts towards my career and I came across you through my official UA-cam CHANNEL insight
This was a fun listen. I've always identified more with Roger in the group, his songs resonated with me more than the others. I'll never forget my first Supertramp concert with my dad and I saw Roger and his 12-string playing Give a Little Bit, I loved him so much then and even more now! My little boy Brett likes to call Roger 'Mr. Logical' some times :) He is such a sweet heart, he looks up to Roger a great deal - while I was watching this he came up to my screen and said "I want to be like him, mum!" Very big heartfelt thank you, Roger!!
And I will never, ever forget as a young boy, 7 years old during the summer of 1979, hearing The Logical Song and it really touching me, catching my ear, and it being played over and over on the radio. But it was hearing Take the Long Way Home in the car with my parents later on that year that made me a Supertramp fan and I said, "I love this song! I want that album this song is on," and my parents showing me how to earn the $6.99 for it by doing chores around the house. Then, they took me down to a dept. store to buy Breakfast in America with my own money! After that, i bought Crime of the Century thinking it was the follow-up, not seeing until some time later that it was from 1974. Anyway, love your story about your son...reminded me of me as a little boy falling in love with Roger's songs and Supertramp. Cheers!
Beautiful balanced human being, so nice to hear and see in this world when things are very uneasy......may his music rise to even bigger heights in our hearts.. Cherri
Wow !!! What a truly wonderful human being you are Rodger. I recently saw you again in London royal Albert hall in may 2019 . Your music got me through my young and at times very difficult life. And it still does even today. Love and blessings to all who love and feel the lyrics and music by this great and talented man thank you. Susan uk xx
Roger is a very soulfull musician and explains himself better then any musician I have ever heard before. And in a humble articulate, mature level. WOW!
Wow!! Roger is an amazing artist and man. Even when I first saw Supertramp in the '70's; Roger seemed the quiet humble member of the band. He is an amazing guitarist as well as everything else he does mainly because he loves it!
Such a wonderful talented gifted composer and artist. Roger has written so many songs, that will last the end of time. Roger Hodgeson plays and sings from his Heart, and sounds amazing in live Concerts. No surprise that Roger has such a big place in so many of his fans. Many of today's singing artist should learn by his example of performance, from such a great composer and singing talent.
Roger has the talent and humanity that we all could wish of the people. I am grateful for everything he has given me over the years, and what has generated in me his compositions. Great interview!
I got to see him perform seveal years ago in Florida with my dad. Ao glad to have gotten the chance, especially since my dad passed a couple of years ago. Thanks for being in Florida at Epcot at the time.
clearly seen here Rog is a down-to-earth, friendly guy. It's easy to talk to him. When you see his live show he's not detached and reserved like musicians usually are, his storytelling of creating his songs is fun & very interesting, like he says it feels like we're in a big family living room, not a concert venue. very special.
In a great way this interview was exactly what I expected. Just like he said I see the happiness and joy of his being when I watch and re watch him perform in the live material I've been lucky enough to find on UA-cam. I would put him right up there with someone like Paul Rodgers. They both have a sparkle in they're eyes when they perform that transcends the music but at the same time makes them the real deal if there really is such a thing.
Roger Hodgson is truly a class act. I find it very admirable that he would leave a very successful career in its prime to raise a family. After leaving music for 22 years to come back and be able to pick up right where he left off, says a lot about the quality of his music and his musicianship. The old saying goes, "If you love something, set it free, if it comes back to you, it's yours, if it doesn't, it never was" rings true. It certainly has "come back" to him, so to speak, which goes to show that music has always been 'his'. And, thankfully, he LOVES to share his talent with the rest of the world. His love for his craft comes through at every show. I've always loved Roger's music and I always will.
actually, this was not the case.....and when he left supertramp he said as much.....he wanted as a very gifted song writer and part of one of the best ensemble musicians of their generation......to branch out by himself......in other words he felt trapped......he did not do that.....at least not in a creative sense.....but rather he later answered that he just wanted to escape from the whole music industry and become a dad.....nothing wrong in that......BUT for me......if you take Lennon away from McArtney or Davies away from Hodgson......and then take away the other brilliant band members that collaborated to make the band so innovative.....then you are left with a recipe without having any chance of getting all the ingredients.....

Great interview. I wish more people would listen to Roger's words. "...in a way of service" - "giving rather than taking" - the beautiful thing about it all is, here is a man who does not only talk about it, he does it every night on stage: He gives his heart and thus touches the hearts of his audiences. He comes out on stage and the connection is immediately there - everyone is uplifted. You have to experience it, feel it yourself - human language lacks the words to describe it...
I used to play on my grandparents Winco, the vinyl record "breakfast in America" album when I was 6 Y/O. I fell in love with the band, immediately. I would read the lyrics and sing along. I'm 43 now. My grandparents whom still are alive get very emotional when they see me today, playing this band. I cannot express what their music produces in my body, soul, brain. I want to cry, scream, run.. goosebumps all over. Roger is such a kind soul. His music is pure vibrational prayer.

This is a man who has figured out what life is about.
Almost makes me sad how everyone hates on him for leaving, when half of them don’t even know he left to help his kids while they grew up. I respect that choice.
His family is the focus of his love and not himself or his ego. This is true love.
Lucky, he is my Uncle😂
He left Supertramp to be with his kids, wow i have alot of respect for that. That is really special.

Thats not the only reason.
After 14 years touring...the Beatles didn't last that long!
me too, amazing guy...
