In September 2004 I had the honor of traveling to Sainte Mere Eglise with two members of the 101st 506th PIR, Company E Aka: Band of Brothers. It was an “Easy Company Tour” and the trip of a lifetime. We went everywhere they did during the war, starting at the Strand Hotel in London and crossing the English Channel into Western Europe. They’re gone now. They truly were The Greatest Generation….
This and the podcast are two of the best you have ever done. The way the French honor the memories of those young American paratroopers is very respectful. I watched and listened with tears in my eyes, it was so moving. Thank you for doing what you do. The bravery of the "greatest generation" should never be forgotten. I grew up with my Father and Uncles as my heroes and role models. I joined the Army to follow in their footsteps. I got to go to Jump School at Ft. Benning, they did not. I wanted to become a paratrooper, but alas, I was always in armored or mechanized infantry divisions. There is another awesome story about the people of Bastogne and how they honor American WW II Veterans. Equally moving.
Thank you so much Doug. 😊 Your words truly mean so much to us and we are so honored to be able to recognize what these brave men did before us. So happy that folk like you, us, and others are able to continue to honor them. 😊
So interesting and I loved seeing the stained glass! Eisenhower was president when I was born so I always love hearing things about him. Thank you for reminding us all how real this all was. It's easy to forget if we allow ourselves to.
Wonderful video and commentary, thank you for sharing. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it

What an amazing experience that must have been. I can’t imagine having someone like that take you through all those locations. 😊
