I read a comment that said Rosas was a confusing name. In Spanish, Rosas means Roses or Pink and there isn't any of that in the movie. I agree with this, why name the Rosas if there isn't any roses or pink. I am no language expert but they could have named the town that could be associated with wishes or magic as that is what the movie revolves around.
I my memory serves right, apparently it was just called Rosas as yet another reference to one of their previous films, specifically movies like Beauty and the Beast and Sleeping Beauty. That's it. It was literally named for a reference.
Did people not know that Chris Pine has experience as a voice actor????? Like, him being fairly talented shouldn't have been a surprise lol. Rise of the Guardians is on of my all time favourite animated movies, and he voices the protagonist in that. He also has a minor part in Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse, and in terms of musicals he played a small but iconic role in Into the Woods lol. Like, he's not the best va I've heard, it's obviously something he dabbles in rather than a specialty, but in my opinion he's genuinely good!
The worst part is king magnifico was basically seen as free wishing machine and just doesnt feel like a true villain? like my guy just needs a friend who doesnt ask for a wish right after he says he feels like people only see him for the wishes or whatever. You know what did "Evil wish granter" right? MADOKA MAGICA, AN ANIME HAD A BETTER WISH BASED VILLAIN THAN DISNEY sorry if rhis is like poorly written im v out of it
The opening with a book is a reference to the classic Disney princess movies, they always opened with a book (wich I think it was a real book not an animate one). That's also why Shrek opens with a book, because is riffing on Disney. (Love the review, I'm glad I found your channel)
I have my grievances with Raya, but it benefited from letting the audience explore the vast world it was set in. It knew what it wanted to be--be an adventure epic that showed different environments and cultures. Wish wanted to be a simpler story in a simpler setting that harkens back to their roots, but it lacked the charm to make up for that simplicity because it constantly tried to emulate its predecessors while forgetting what it could have to set itself apart.
One of the dumbest things in the world is asha's name itself. Whats so bad abt it you ask? ITS LITERALLY THE WORD "WISH" TRANSLATED INTO HINDI (आशा) 😭 Edit: also its not "wish apon a star" wish, it's "I wish I could.... or I wish you were...." wish. It's so obvious they just put that shit through Google translate
What if they made Asha as someone who was very outwardly nice but in reality is rude and self centered, all she wants is to grant a wish etc? I think that would be interesting because her personality would subvert expectations and we could see her personality change as she grows, maybe learning that maybe she doesn’t need magnifico’s wishes. Just a thought I had about the story!! :D
Awesome video!!! In my opinion wish is one of those movies that is so Bad that it's good, I haven't watch the movie itself but I do like the songs, like they are actually so badly written that in my opinion they are automatically good, like when in one of the Songs a Deer literally says watch out world head I are 😆 but my main gripe about the movie is the story telling, mainly with Asha wanting all wishes to come true, and King Magmefico (I think that's how you spell it) is a guy who only grants wishes that are good like helping the elderly, becoming a movie director, being a Knite that protects the Kingdom, ETC, but Asha wants for even the Dangerous wishes to come true, so I feel like the Lesson in Wish is dangerous, but the Songs they are badly written yet funny :) and I respect your opinion on this movie :)
Chris's smooth vocal chords were the only thing that kept me sane. (Not only me, right :)? and also that scene where Asha just wrecks Magnifico with a bookshelf that was really funny for some reason-
I loved this video, like all of yours. I agree with some of your points but unlike the general consensus, I liked this film. I've heard that Disney Animation was passionate about this but Corperate Disney drove this into the ground and ruined it. I found this quite entertaining and a great celebration of 100 years of Disney. Also, you're amazing at what you do, and I aspire to be as great a creator as you someday. In fact i think you commented on one of my first cringey videos about 2 years ago, and now, my videos are... slightly less cringey but nowhere near as great as yours. Keep doing what you're doing man, you're a genuine, incredible person who's incredible talent gets overlooked by many. :)
I watched this movie halfway through one night before getting bored and the next day I couldn't remember any melody from any of the songs at all. It was that forgettable
i'm so upset cause I really love Asia's design but her personality just being the adorkable basic disney princess, along with the rest of the movie being bland/ bad just is so sad. She has one of my favorite of the princesses designs ☹️
I’m I path of titans player and I already know Asha is comparable to the Official Allosaurus. Allo in PoT is a average Dino, so Asha is your average Disney channel protagonist
Welcome to Rosas isn't that bad of a song. But it's an exposition song that basically repeats what we were already told from the storybook intro? So storytelling-wise, the song is kind of redundant. It would've been better if it was a song that introduced to us who Asha is as a character (like "Belle" from Beauty and the Beast, which also had a storybook intro in stained glass window form).
I watch it 2 times; first because i was curious and second to really see if it's that bad... yes, it is! Nothing made me laugh or cry, Valentino was annoying, the star was cute but not very bave (Would been better as the Starboy AND having a romance with Asha. Too bad we didn't get that!) Magnifico became evil out of nowhere; his song is catchy but not as iconic and exciting as Be prepared or Hellfire. The queen was not memorable or developped, she would been so interresting if she was evil like in the original plot. Also, first evil couple in a Disney movie; that would be awesome! Asha's friends were just a reference, none of them was likable or funny or charming 😐 The action is good and the music too. The rest... meh. If i have to rate it, i give it 5|10. Not great but not awful or boring either. Although, i won't rewatching it a millions times like with: Aladdin, Lilo and Stitch, Treasure planet, Atlantis, Mulan or Hercules.
wow i came from the rewriting lyrics video on your second channel and did not expect it to be a furry at all. you have the last personality that i would ever associate with a rainbow dragon on the internet but i am so for it and im 1000% subbed + ready for more
9:50 in defense of this song (At all costs) the lyrics written here are in weird order, they sound quite good in the song (except: fElT tHiS nO i hAvEnT)
I honestly didn't have much to say about Wish simply because I enjoyed the jokes and the references to previous Disney movies were nostalgic. It wasn't a terrible experience either, probably because I had no expectations for it going into the theater. I didn't even know it was the 100th Disney movie. I just knew it was a movie and I happened to enjoy it. If you just watch the movie as a movie it's actually not that bad. Remember that that doesn't erase the issues it had overall. Just... one thing I feel I need to say is that this is an excellent reminder for us as viewers to stop going into movies with expectations that are shaped by people who already watched it. Let yourself experience things naturally. I definitely wouldn't have enjoyed any part of Wish even a little bit if I'd listened to everyone online saying it was just plain bad. It was pretty underwhelming from the perspective that it was a celebration of the films Disney has made, but that doesn't make it horrible. Flawed (probably written partially by AI), but not horrible. (Somehow I can smell the hate coming my way for saying I enjoyed Wish.)
this could have been better is if Asha had an actual reason to rebel. Instead of "he doesn't grant every wish and that's bad" what if he only granted the wishes of the rich and powerful?? Or granted wishes in exchange for favors, gifts, or cash. Then she'd have a reason to be upset, then he'd actually be evil, it would give the movie a plot that makes sense, while also being an allegory for real world problems. But... that plot might hit a little too close to home for the execs
The 7 dwarf friends are a waste of great character design (except the sleepy one his design blows) Also that scene where the whole city sings reminds me of all those women sang Creep by Radiohead
9:00 considering who wrote the songs in the movie(Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice), they really are pop songs in this case. That’s why the lyrics feel so clunky.
and it hurts even more, because you can tell a lot of the people working on it were really, truly good at what they did, but they were probably crunched for time and given stale material to work with :/
i swear, WISH looks like they stole the idea from a low budget movie and trying to make it better. look, I have seen generic films in my life time, but nothing gets this bad as WISH.
10:20 - 10:25 = I feel like that set of lines sounds fine, but it's no "Encanto". I guess, I don't fully see your point here, but I do see that line sounding better if it was "and he built Rosas a long time ago" so maybe you complaining about the lyrics has some basis. But, I will say, that villain song sounds weird and the silences are weirder. (Sure, those silences work in a live stage musical. But NOT IN A MOVIE!!!) Anyway, I'm glad I didn't see this one in theaters now that I've heard all these awful things about.
Okay, I know it has been about 17 centuries since this shitty flop movie came out but I NEED to bring this up because nobody else has! Disney used SO MUCH pitch correction! Basically the entirety of Welcome To Rosas sounds pitch corrected! It seems they were going the live action pitch correction route with this but HOLY SHIT it sounds SO BAD
As a movie on its own. 3/10 max. The music wothout the words, a bland but basic story, VA's are sometimes ok, animation is...passable at best. As a 100th special Disney movie, its an abomination that belongs in the Hellfires with count frollo.
the only song i think is any good is "at all costs" and i honestly hate the second chorus that the main character sings because her singing sounds so forced and uncomfortable, and the lyrics make no sense. but their voices sound good together, and the song itself could be put into different contexts and still used effectively
saying a piece of media is mid and uninspired really should not equal disallowing people to enjoy its good parts. i wish people would get over themselves (pun not intended). why do they insist on only enjoying cream of the crop material? this movie sucks, and that's exactly why i hope someone out there enjoyed it. then it was a little bit less of a waste.
A good idea for full reviews in general, that I can agree on. However, to be fair, this felt more like a off-the-cuff rant/drive-by rather than something more official. It's an interesting set of angles and takes that I haven't quite seen in other reviews so far. This indicates to me that some value is still present, scattered as it may be. But that's just my two cents.
Every day I’m reminded that “when it comes to the universe we’re all shareholders” is the most corporate-coded thing that ever existed 🙃

I know, he got pipes.
I get wanting a 2D and 3D blend for the animation but they had the perfect animation that they could've used from the short Paperman so I don't know how it ended up looking like this
You know what’s crazy, this movie was nominated at the golden globes instead of Nimona. Good thing the Oscars didn’t do that. Also, I hate that Asha has no flaws because without flaws, it makes her character bland
oh she definitely has flaws, but it's just that the movie and characters never called her out on it. Instead they tried to make her "quirky" instead of acknowledging that her begging for every wish to be granted/given back knowing everything was fine with everyone else is just plain weird. Not to mention, what about dangerous wishes ? Given back to the wish owner, they could use it to harm others or something...
@@0r1g1n4l-Charmer and I agree with the people who say that the king is right, we can carry dangerous wishes and Asha is just saying “But these wishes need to be granted, even if I don’t see what they are” like girl
@@sofiamorgan3756 RIGHT! If someone (likely the king) called her out on it and on her trying to be the good guy when in reality she was the main reason people were pushing magnifico into such a bad place. Then maybe she could've had a character arc with more interest but NOPE she's totally perfect!!!1!!11!!
Wish’s animation style looks like the sims 4. I’m sorry but it really does..😭😭
XDD
Nah, don’t do Sims 4 like that 😂.
Sims 4 with DLCs and CCs is better tbh
@@SweetOrangeGirl I will do sims 4 like that✊
@@vuthu2631 absolutely
Did people not know that Chris Pine has experience as a voice actor????? Like, him being fairly talented shouldn't have been a surprise lol. Rise of the Guardians is on of my all time favourite animated movies, and he voices the protagonist in that. He also has a minor part in Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse, and in terms of musicals he played a small but iconic role in Into the Woods lol. Like, he's not the best va I've heard, it's obviously something he dabbles in rather than a specialty, but in my opinion he's genuinely good!
i dunno man, 6/10 was mighty generous
So true
The "ceremony" line sounds like when you are just making up a song on the spot while bored. The timing and spacing just sound off and unpolished.
The worst part is king magnifico was basically seen as free wishing machine and just doesnt feel like a true villain? like my guy just needs a friend who doesnt ask for a wish right after he says he feels like people only see him for the wishes or whatever.
You know what did "Evil wish granter" right? MADOKA MAGICA, AN ANIME HAD A BETTER WISH BASED VILLAIN THAN DISNEY sorry if rhis is like poorly written im v out of it
Watching a rainwing angrily rant about a Disney movie is a wonderful experience
(Btw I love the design of the character makes me wanna draw fanart)
4:24 - So, you could say … “I want something more for us than this”?
get out
HELLO
He has to make a wish first, then say the line!
i rant about wish too
it literally gave me a headache oh my gosh
One of the dumbest things in the world is asha's name itself. Whats so bad abt it you ask? ITS LITERALLY THE WORD "WISH" TRANSLATED INTO HINDI (आशा) 😭
Edit: also its not "wish apon a star" wish, it's "I wish I could.... or I wish you were...." wish.
i deadass did not know you were the same guy as the dude who fixed the lyrics
Hey hey don't be so mean, disney is a small indie company.
That’s it!
I say the community comes together to remake wish!!
WHO’S WITH ME!!!!!!
i cant even be mad about the chatgbt lyrics
"ooh im a star" is so bad that is funny
I just watched it too and I will die on this hill “this is the thanks I get” is a good song and I’d prefer over other Disney songs
I like it, too.
"Magmefico"
😆😆😆
*Magnifico
@@westerfrost3701 thanks :)
@@alexb859 You’re welcome.
it’s not Disney’s 100th animated movie, it’s their 100th year
This whole movie is a marketing ploy
THE CRICKETS PLEASBDUWIDJEB 💀💀💀
Chris's smooth vocal chords were the only thing that kept me sane. (Not only me, right :)?
and also that scene where Asha just wrecks Magnifico with a bookshelf that was really funny for some reason-
This movie looks like the sims 4 with gshade lol
actually seeing his face on Jonah Who Two is so much better. I genuinely forget this is his main account
I watched this movie halfway through one night before getting bored and the next day I couldn't remember any melody from any of the songs at all. It was that forgettable
As a writer, the lyrics in this movie caused me physical pain :')
I looked up 'this is the thanks i get' and the first thing that popped into my brain was 'fly my little akuma and evilise him' T_T
i'm so upset cause I really love Asia's design but her personality just being the adorkable basic disney princess, along with the rest of the movie being bland/ bad just is so sad. She has one of my favorite of the princesses designs ☹️
I’m I path of titans player and I already know Asha is comparable to the Official Allosaurus. Allo in PoT is a average Dino, so Asha is your average Disney channel protagonist
I think someone already said this somewhere but I feel like everyone in this movie is a background character from shrek....
I’m new here, is he like, a rainwing? Because if so, that’s very cool and I like it.
I found u through the second channel rewrite video. I love your videos so far, I watched these 2 and bolt one ^^
Also I really like your dragon sona
Welcome to Rosas isn't that bad of a song. But it's an exposition song that basically repeats what we were already told from the storybook intro? So storytelling-wise, the song is kind of redundant. It would've been better if it was a song that introduced to us who Asha is as a character (like "Belle" from Beauty and the Beast, which also had a storybook intro in stained glass window form).
like i wouldn't want to be wished into being a goat
I watch it 2 times; first because i was curious and second to really see if it's that bad... yes, it is! Nothing made me laugh or cry, Valentino was annoying, the star was cute but not very bave (Would been better as the Starboy AND having a romance with Asha. Too bad we didn't get that!) Magnifico became evil out of nowhere; his song is catchy but not as iconic and exciting as Be prepared or Hellfire. The queen was not memorable or developped, she would been so interresting if she was evil like in the original plot. Also, first evil couple in a Disney movie; that would be awesome! Asha's friends were just a reference, none of them was likable or funny or charming 😐
The action is good and the music too. The rest... meh. If i have to rate it, i give it 5|10. Not great but not awful or boring either. Although, i won't rewatching it a millions times like with: Aladdin, Lilo and Stitch, Treasure planet, Atlantis, Mulan or Hercules.
Dude you are a dragon this is so cool. I love your persona
This is the Thanks I Get makes me want to walk into the ocean and never return :')
wow i came from the rewriting lyrics video on your second channel and did not expect it to be a furry at all. you have the last personality that i would ever associate with a rainbow dragon on the internet but i am so for it and im 1000% subbed + ready for more
absolutely living for the monty python references. ni!
I feel like if it hadn’t been the 100th film people would’ve cared about it less than strange world but no they gave it all these expectations
Off topic from the video, but I love your character design! It reminds me a little of the rainwings from WoF :3
MEDITERANIAN?? I THOUGHT THIS WAS LIKE AFRO-CUBAN?!
Saw the video on your second channel, wanted more, saw ragon appear, instantly subbed to both channels
this could have been better is if Asha had an actual reason to rebel.
The 7 dwarf friends are a waste of great character design (except the sleepy one his design blows)
Also that scene where the whole city sings reminds me of all those women sang Creep by Radiohead
9:00 considering who wrote the songs in the movie(Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice), they really are pop songs in this case. That’s why the lyrics feel so clunky.
and it hurts even more, because you can tell a lot of the people working on it were really, truly good at what they did, but they were probably crunched for time and given stale material to work with :/
6:10character arc...she has no character arc! Lol
I have 2 questions: whens your next Q&A and will u ever talk about Zootopia?
I agree with all of your points.
Monty Pithon reference, lets gooo 😂
Tbh i was really disappointed when the star didnt talk, i mean, in the trailer it had line so why didnt it in the actual movie?
i swear, WISH looks like they stole the idea from a low budget movie and trying to make it better. look, I have seen generic films in my life time, but nothing gets this bad as WISH.
just so u know, its actually the 62nd film not 100th, but its been 100 years of the animation studio xx
managed to get here after hearing your rewrite of welcome to rosas and you get a subscribe 🎉
Great review!
But NOT IN A MOVIE!!!)
Anyway, I'm glad I didn't see this one in theaters now that I've heard all these awful things about.
Wish is blatantly a Disney movie from the app Wish☠️
Okay, I know it has been about 17 centuries since this shitty flop movie came out but I NEED to bring this up because nobody else has! Disney used SO MUCH pitch correction! Basically the entirety of Welcome To Rosas sounds pitch corrected! It seems they were going the live action pitch correction route with this but HOLY SHIT it sounds SO BAD
At All Cost wasn't meant for Magnifico and Asha, it does not fit them at all. We have been robbed off of our Starboy 😢💔💔
Psych the musical did a better job utilizing the musical format and it was a TV comedy
OK
It’s my b day and also worst movie of 2023 ngl
Happy belated birthday!
@@westerfrost3701 thank you so much!! And yes it was late, but still thank you so much 😊
@@RandomguyfromtheinternetN1 You’re welcome!
Yayyy good video!!
wow seeing the scenes of other animations like encanto and moana right next to wish only makes it even more clear how the animation is bland af
saying a piece of media is mid and uninspired really should not equal disallowing people to enjoy its good parts. i wish people would get over themselves (pun not intended). why do they insist on only enjoying cream of the crop material? this movie sucks, and that's exactly why i hope someone out there enjoyed it. then it was a little bit less of a waste.
yeah, i hope someone else enjoyed it too.
u REAAAAAAALY should write scripts for these reviews........ just an idea
i usually do. just tried something different this time
A good idea for full reviews in general, that I can agree on. However, to be fair, this felt more like a off-the-cuff rant/drive-by rather than something more official. It's an interesting set of angles and takes that I haven't quite seen in other reviews so far. This indicates to me that some value is still present, scattered as it may be. But that's just my two cents.
Lol I fucking hated this movie
lol it’s not their 100th film.
whoopsy i meant it's their 100th anniversary
hi :3 UwU
Am I really the only one who unironically liked this movie?
No
This is what your kind of group asked for in media. Representation and nothing else. Also thou art a cartoon dragon.
