At 65 I restarted my Bible study at Genesis using the Matthew Henry Commentary to do a deep dive this time around. I'm always praying and meditating as well.
It's funny how when it's raining or snowing out and one dred's walking dog(s). Then, just like them, I always feel better after the walk and I enjoy towling them down just as much as the like getting toweled. Who's walking whom is, of course, the corollary to, Who rescued whom?
At 62, earlier this year, I quit a $250k job as a corporate lawyer for a large Investment Bank, fast forward 9 months, I have a better standard of living, living in Cambodia, volunteering teaching kids and studying Sanskrit.

66 and retiring soon. Don’t have a lot in savings but have a roof over our heads, food on the table and are close to family 🙏. Recent health issue has made me realize how quickly things can change. A simple walk, which I’ve always enjoyed, carries more importance now. Someone told me to ‘enjoy your health’ when you retire - sage advice.

This is how I see my future to calm down and live in the moment I retire September 30 2024 I’m not financially ready for it but I never will be somehow I will manage. I don’t want much out of life just peace and quiet and time to get things in order before my time runs out. Hopefully that won’t be for another few years yet it’s about tidying up my mind my home before I can move on so to speak…you have made perfect sense to me I never was ambitious. I was always loner even when people told me it wasn’t right and it wasn’t good for me but it is right and it is good for me. I have never feared being in my own company after 40 years of a lonely marriage, I’m now divorced and I’m not afraid, to be alone because in the end we are alone no one can save us from that.
If you’re working, make sure you take time out for yourself. I live in Kailua, Oahu. I still work full-time at 65 but I take time to Treadwater and dog paddle. If you remember, dog paddling is like running in the water so you can adjust it to a full on sprint or slow Walk. Lucky I found a club called Midpac Country Club and I can swim 5:30 in the morning for one hour and easily burn 1000 cal. I also suggest that you get out and do regular exercises too. But one of the most important things is your body in motion and proper diet. I’m my own boss and had to find a way to balance my life. Gotta work out too aloha to you all.

Wonderful helpful wisdom. I’m 61 and still working in a reasonable job. I know I can retire if I want but for the most part my work is rewarding and not too stressful atm. Funny as you get older, other people's opinions don't matter much. When you hit half a century and worked hard enough to achieve what you have, start enjoying the fruits of your labour. Put your needs first, treat yourself to little luxuries which you never had time for, like holidays, etc, cause time flies and life is too short. Practice gratitude!

I've always had the right to live my life as I see fit, society and its views can take a running jump. "It's no measure of mental health to be well adjusted to an inherently sick society"
@@WiseAdvice93 Just an old mans opinion. To be clear I've lived my life as I see fit but tried to be honest honourable and not to harm others. The golden rule applies, treat others as you would like to be treated.
" Wise advice" is assuming you've made your pile by the time youre old. Certainly not true in every case. Nothing worse than being old AND broke in a society of scammers and criminals ( and that includes all the politicians )
As a Christian I long for freedom...freedom from sin but that will not happen until the redemption of my body when the Lord resurrects it should I die before he comes.
I am 64 years old and think to myself how our younger years were wasted waking early working lousy jobs dealing with lousy bosses working paycheck to paycheck just to pay the bills with not much to save at all. Health ruined by stress of the daily grind, then we get old and retire just before we die and many cannot do what they could of done in young age. Most elderly have health issues many will not even live to 65 or70 years old. What a waste of life that should of been enjoyed in younger years not olden years. Glad I did travel when I was in my 20s and early 30s when laid off from work. My brother and I took a road trip out west and have been to almost all the national parks out west except for the Grand Canyon and Crater lake we camped to save money on fuel and motels were frugal it was possible back then. I will take those memories to my grave.
Economically, my adult life was challenging yet there was always enough, especially in a pinch. Perhaps things worked out that way because time to explore and be creative was paramount.

Hi there. Nice. But how do you do not to feel lonely? Please advice on your thought pattern
Someone asked me after this post, how do I not be lonely living alone at 75. It’s funny but I’ve never really thought too much about this.
I guess if I have an answer, it is that I have a deep connection with God. I wake every morning between 3 and 5 PM and I spend From 30 minutes to an hour counting my blessings and being grateful for everything.
Upon doing this I feel and hear the whispers in voice of God all throughout my day and therefore I never feel alone. This is the best answer I can give.
Hope this helps.
Good morning. And thank you for your inquiry. You ask me how I’m not feeling lonely living alone and 75.
It’s so funny that I’ve never even thought about the idea of loneliness.
I guess the best answer I can give you is one that I gave as a general reply is that I have such a deep connection with God and I feel the presence of God so intensely in every moment of my day that it is impossible for me to feel alone.
Now you might ask how does one get this connection, and the answer to that question would be a practice that I do regularly every morning which between 3 AM and 5 AM.
I get up and I meditate for 30 minutes to an hour counting my blessings and feeling immensely grateful for all of the beautiful things in my life big and small, all of the things that I have that we normally take for granted that money just can’t buy.
I can feel the voice and whispers of God inside of me at every moment of the day. Wonderful coincidences are always happening to me and I know that coincidence is the language of God.
Hope this helps. Thanks.

Great information 😊❤
Thank you ❤️
In my twenties, I learned not to sweat the small stuff and that it was all small stuff...
It still is...

Awesome! Thank you!
Do your own thing, eliminate the drama and find satisfaction in everything you do. It's better to observe and admire than waste your time trying to offer your 2 cents......
I agree with your opinion, thank you very much
"It's better to observe and admire"

Read the Bible, ask God for him to reveal Truth through his Word and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
72 years old living in Australia. As a palliative care doctor I spent the past 20 years in uk through the pandemic. I did not make it through without PTSD. I now need a hip replacement and psychiatry.
3 marriages 2 divorces no contact with ex wives kids and grandkids.
Saving lives is over rated parenting too and certainly relationships with women.
I would trade everything for a few more guitar chords ❤.
@@Chris-wj8fzit's okay we never had social media and learning from you tube. Coming generation are more smart..now please focus on yourself

I've always had the right to live my life as I see fit, society and its views can take a running jump. "It's no measure of mental health to be well adjusted to an inherently sick society"
Your sharing is wonderful, thank you very much
@@WiseAdvice93 Just an old mans opinion.

Thank you much for think about for the better
Thank you very much
I am 64 years old and think to myself how our younger years were wasted waking early working lousy jobs dealing with lousy bosses working paycheck to paycheck just to pay the bills with not much to save at all.

Age is just a number. Think of it as a timeline, and do what you need to do.

Economically, my adult life was challenging yet there was always enough, especially in a pinch. Perhaps things worked out that way because time to explore and be creative was paramount.
