  • Peak summertime water temps drive baitfish and bass to hard bottom deep water haunts on lakes, rivers, and reservoirs. Wired2Fish's Ryan DeChaine demonstrates how to methodically fish productive offshore structures with big deep-diving crankbaits, which consistently trigger the biggest and most aggressive bass in any given body of water.

    DeChaine's system starts with having a detailed picture of the structure he's fishing. He uses side-imaging and mapping to find and waypoint offshore hard patches, then employs 360 Imaging for making methodical casts until he's thoroughly fished the structure.
    The key to getting bit is making bottom contact with the crankbait -- DeChaine mixes in ultra deep-diving crankbaits to ensure consistent bottom contact throughout the cast. Realistic finishes are a plus in clear water. Lastly, he details his rod, reel, and line set up to make long casts into the wind, maintain adequate line pick, and significantly reduce break-offs with oversized crankbaits.

    My favorite wired2fish guy. Hard to find videos of people fishing up north. Is this Minnesota by chance?

      Hi Jack, yes, this is central MN. Thanks for watching - Ryan.

    Great technique Jason, and you teach so I can understand you! Finally great job! Don’t have 360 but got hummingbird solix 12 2D DI SI so I’m excited to try this crankbait! I’m 69 years old , I old school shallow finesse fisherman 0’-12’. I think I still got time to try 24 ft lol! Keep the faith brother! 👍🥸🙏

    This is a great video- question for you though, have you dealt with any wagon wheeling effect on your 360 wile spot locked? When my trolling motor is spot locked and running I get interference so bad that my 360 is useless. Going to put grounded shielding around the cables this spring. Any experience dealing with this on your end?

    $300 rod, $160 reel...nice set up, but pricey. Entertaining and informative vid. I like this guy because he fishes up north techniques.

      Thanks Jim, yeah, pricey but also not necessary for the method. Lots of good sub $100 rods and reels on the market that'll get it done. Thanks for watching! We try spreading our content around the country but definitely take advantage of my home area during the summer months. Have a good one. -Ryan

      Or it gets hung on one of those tree branches. I got hung on a tree once and couldn’t get it loose. Wanted to go scuba diving lol

    Thank you for sharing your professional expertise with us today. When you make reference to an extremely long cast, what cast distance are you achieving? Thank you for any guidance to me, a struggling angler. Thank you again for an excellent presentation.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  4 роки тому

      Hi Dennis, I'm guessing my casting distance (into the wind) was ~ 125' but 150' is attainable with the right combination of bait, line, rod and reel. We appreciate you tuning in. Keep at it and it'll start coming together. - Ryan

    Have you tried Imakatsu Bull Bison? For me, it is a better JDM big crank

      Definitely how it seems but I catch a ton of fish off of a 300$ stand up paddleboard with no electronics. The most important thing is time on the water.

    I want to see these anglers on wired2fish try to catch fish on my surrounding lakes. Cecil harden, Cataract, monroe here in indiana and see if they can actually make a video catching fish. I swear no video helps indiana waters lol. The lakes here suck! I don’t doubt more anglers fish than bass in the lakes here.
