Mido deserves more love. I’ve had the Ocean Star featured in this video for 1.5 years and I absolutely love it. I wear it nearly every day. Mido punches above their price point for sure.

I got an Orient Kamasu, red dial, for Christmas. With 200 meters of water resistance, lume that is bright and lasts for several hours, a moderately sized case that fits well under shirt cuffs, and a lug with that allows for different strap/band/bracket combinations, and an affordable price...it's a great option. It's my first "real" automatic dive watch, and I'm quite proud of it.✌🏽👍🏽
@@karlsenula9495 I really like the brand. I just wish I could see them in person before buying. I guess the price makes it not too much of a risk though

Nice to see Certina mentioned. I have a DS diver in my collection and it’s quality for the price point was a nice surprise. The 80hr per reserve, and the micro adjust clasp make this brand a real hidden gem.
I own an SPRF03 and have beat the crap out of it and its crystal, and not a scratch on the hardlex. People underestimate the scratch resistance of hardlex. It has been through the woods teaching at scout camp for two weeks straight for 2 years, and through many a bail at the skate park. Hardlex is better than you think!
After watching a handful of your videos …… I have finally subscribed. I’ve found my self coming back over and over again looking for help with what watch’s are worth buying.
The Mido Ocean Star is an excellent watch, I recently purchased the GMT Ocean Star for just under 1K from my local watch boutique, since then all my other watches have been comfortably placed in the cupboard.
On the Seiko side of things, I think the King Turtle and King Samurai are the best bang for buck choices, because they have sapphire crystals and ceramic bezels by default. Just get a couple of straps and be happy.
I'm a weekly Floridian lobster diver and use the Citizen Pro Master. I can say this thing takes a beating. I stay between 50 - 130ft regularly. The watch keeps impeccable time and the eco-drive system is flawless....no batteries....no winding....it always works.
I have had a Tissot 1000 for almost 17 years, still works the same as the day I bought it. It takes a beating. I also have an Omega which is way more comfortable but The Tissot is my work watch.
Well done Teddy. You are definitely earning your stripes. Great videos. Great production. Great branding. Great content. I can only imagine how hard it is to do this behind the scenes. I will hit the like button every time.
If you like the Duro on the plastic strap, you'll love it on the fitted bracelet found on Ali Express. Add the machined clasp for an extra $5 and you really have something that doesn't look or feel like a $60 watch!
I bought the Casio Duro, Vostok and the Kamasu, absolutely incredible watches for the money! I use them in a suit while presenting, or in the gym on bracelets and they are just great!
At first I thought "Oh, surely Christopher Ward C60 should be on that list" and then realized their MSRP is now $1015. Thankfully they often have discounts.
I have 3 dive watches in my collection currently, but my favorite (that I own...lol) is my Spinnaker SP-5080-02 Hunley. Screw down (large and well knurled) signed crown, 200m water resistance, sapphire crystals front and back, 120 click unidirectional bezel, Seiko NH35 movement, excellent finishing, and it's a lume monster. With an MSRP of $350, it's a great entry level automatic dive watch.
Hello Teddy.. What can I say? Vostok, glad you included them as I have a bright yellow Vostok Kommenderski as a casual wearer, second beater watch. They are rugged, tough watches and the yellow one sure is a conversation starter. Stay safe and take care.
Thanks to your channel I paid homage to my family heritage of Hamilton watchmakers with an American Classic Intra-matic Chrono Blue Dial Men’s Watch. Absolutely love it. I think my dad, grandfather and great grandfather would be proud of the quality of modern Hamilton watches. 3 generations of watchmakers.
Stoked to see the Duro as your first pick. I have all six variations for both the 106 and 107 and they are by far my favourite watches in my collection 👍
@@TeddyBaldassarre Hard to argue with that. I also just wanted to reply because it looks like your channel is being spammed (see the message below). Hopefully, this gives you a chance to delete and block the spammer. JP
I really LOVE the Tissot! Own a Seastar Chronograph of almost same dimensions, wanted a 1000 Powermatic 80 but found it too small for my taste. This 2000 very much reminds ne of an Oris Aquis, with that dial touch of Omega Seamaster. Fantastic for this price! Thank you Teddy, great review 👍🏻
Overall all are excellent choices Teddy. I'd add Zelos, Helm, Phoibos. Dan Henry 1970 Compressor - and while I know how many feel about Chinese watches but I would check out San Martin and Cronos - the dive rating on the Cronos had also been tested - see video on UA-cam (1000m watch on the hydraulic press channel). Zelos and Helm have waiting lists and like Rolex resell above the sale price. Have the Duro, Vostok Amphibia and the Orient Kamasu. Looking at the Vostok Amfibia Reef (Amfibia with the F).
I just got back from Vegas and it's the first time seeing many of the watches I have seen in your channel. It was really cool because I don't have a big selection in my town.
Totally agree with Mido being underrated. Have had a Mido All Dial Chronograph for almost a decade and it still is very striking with exceptional quality of finish.
Great video as always, Teddy! I love quirky watches and have the Bulova Devil Diver in green, which I enjoy immensely. I think the retro style and "Devil Diver" quirkiness is fantastic and fun. With that said, given the limitations you described, I do not think it's worth anything near the MSRP - I was lucky enough to get almost 45% off, so feel I actually got an incredible deal on a very cool watch.
I have a Duro on a 22mm oyster bracelet from Strapcode with solid links and straight end links. True, the bracelet was the same price as the watch, but it really elevates the whole thing.
Hi Mr. Baldassarre and thanks for showing the Mido Ocean Star Automatic. I've enjoyed these watches for years and have a lot of their collection including their Limited Edition Chronograph. I paid $579 for my Ocean Star that was shown here, several years back. For those who say that watches appreciate only slightly....that's not true for some of the Mido collection.😃
I really wish it would make sense to order from your store for me, just to show appreciation for this channel. Saddly I am based in europe and it is just much more convenient (and cheaper, especially when it comes to swiss brands) to buy watches here. Thank you so much for all the gread videos over the past years! Until that day: keep makiing these awesome videos, really easing the pandemic lifestyle at home + I have learned so much from this channel!
My favorites are at each end of the spectrum here. Between the Orient and Doxa, the dial finishing and color options are top of class, and just make me smile; not to mention what you get out of each entire package.
I have owned the seiko SRPE99K1 for about ~2 years now and it is a fantastic daily wear watch. It is rugged, comfortable stylish and reliable truly a great watch.
The Yema Pearldiver, which has an in-house movement, can be a nice alternative as well, for those who appreciate a neo-retro look and smaller watches (38mm)!
I gotta say, you are the kind of person who success I cheer on. You are a genuine guy and I believe you do your best to be fair and honest. Lol don't let Mr Wonderful corrupt your soul. I always look forward to your top watches in wtv segment you focus on.
This the one ☝🏼 Have to agree with you 100% on the Vostok. The model you reviewed is probably the only one I would consider. Especially with the strap you paired with it! Good taste my man 👌🏼
My favourites here the Orient Kamasu and the Mido Ocean Star 200 in this striking blue (my top diver watch under 1000 dol) with a special mention to Glycine for their price/value
A watch missing here is a Vostok Europe and specifically a lunokhod 2 model, 1000 feet water resistant, upright tritium tubes so full on lume 24/7, pressure release valve, hand built, surgical grade SS case, beautiful straps and a waterproof feature box. I got a few watches my most recent a Frederique constant 38mm moon phase with diamonds, I like to go against the usual type. The Vostok is a real beast however and deserves some recognition
Try a Vostok 710. I have many watches. All kinds of prices. Irrespective of price the 710 is the most beautiful case I've ever worn. Get the bezel swapped by Meranom and they become something completely different, as do they with the addition of a nice strap/sharkmesh etc. This 120 is a great watch. The 18mm lugs, however, hugely limit strap choice. Nice video....agree with all of it.
I have two from your list, the Casio Duro and the Glycine Combat Sub. Both watches are a great value for the money. The Bulova Devil Diver is very tempting. Terrific list Teddy!
Dive watches are the coolest looking watches period. Great review of good affordable ones. Tissot’s are what I bought. Perfect size for men, at 46mm. They make smaller watches look like cheap toys in comparison. Even far more expensive ones.
Thanks for the vid. I have 4 of the before mentioned divers. Seiko, Hamilton, Certina and Tissot. I honestly dont think quartz divers should ever exist. They are fine to look at but in all practicality not the way to go. I also have Tudor, Tag Heuer, Deep Blue and Victotinox and others.
Vostoks are far from my favorite diver, but with the end coming of the original sieko 5 line, they offer an awesome way to experiment and express on the cheap.
I am convinced Zelos anihilates any proposition when it comes to value. On the fly adjust, build quality, materials everything is far superior to anything for less money. Of course, the movements used are a debatable weakness in certain models.
Had my seiko padi turtle for almost 5 years and is my daily watch, very reliable and very nice sunburst dial. One of the best value for money seikos pre owned.
Thanks for all of the great content you provide, maybe a short video about spring bars not all being created equal(seiko diver spring bars come to mind)and aftermarket straps for proper fit. It may keep some folks from losing a watch. Again thanks for all of the information you and your team put out for us.
Teddy, loving your videos. You always go into great detail without over doing it. I'm surprised that you gave never mentioned or reviewed any Rotary watches. I know they are a British brand but bang for buck they are priced well. Future video maybe??
Great video again, Teddy! For me, it feels like the Swatch steals the show here with the MIDO and the Tissot Sea Star. I think the Seiko with the pepsi bezel and the Orient Kamatsu deserve honours here too. The MIDO - I love how close to the crystal the dial is as this often results in one of my favourite effects on watches where the hands catch the light at certain angles but the dial doesn't and you get this cool visual effect with hands glistening and almost floating over a darker dial. Question on the MIDO - you didn't discuss it's lume... how good is the brightness and duration of the lume compared to the Tissot and to the likes of Seiko and the Orient? Do Orient watches get luma-brite also?
The almost total lack of attention that the Steinhart brand receives is very perplexing. The Swiss made (Jura) Ocean 44 utilizes an ETA 2824 movement, good water resistance and handsome looks with some color options. I have several of their watches, including the larger Ocean and they have been good watches and strong values. It's a bit of a pain to order from Europe, but I have experienced fast shipping, and excellent customer support on the one warranty issue I encountered. They should receive more consideration. IMHO. That being said, you have some great choices here. Keep up the great content, thanks!
I know you couldn't mention every single watch out there. But the Orient Mako 2 for $135 on Amazon right now really isn't a bad deal. 200m, in house mouvement, great size etc.
Defo check out the Certina DS Action Diver 38mm for those with smaller wrists/wanting a smaller dive watch! Absolutely love mine and is a great under the radar piece.
you maybe a licensed PADI driver buy you need to get more knowledge about water resistance ratings of watches. it's a very misleading, misinformed number. 100 meters water resistance mean the watch is good for swimming and snorkel diving but that's all. you can't dive with 100m water rated watch at all.
There is something about Hamilton that just works for me. I love that no nonsense approach to their watches and the fact that they are really durable. That Khaki Scuba is really, really good looking.
I own both the citizen and the PADI. I am a PADI MSDT instructor with hundreds of dives from Antarctica to the Red Sea. The Citizen dives better and I see it on wrists more often. The PADI is a bit nicer as a desk diver. I'm hard on them and they are a part of my kit. I'm now n a position to own more expensive dive watches like Blancpain 50 or Rolex etc but I still dive the citizen or the PADI. I know it's not expense but the Citizen is what I look for on the wrist when I travel and need a dive buddy. The stories are better but if they have a PADI I know they're good but have a day job. Full honesty, if you have a beat up Blancpain I'm going to buy you a beer to hear how it got beat up.
I am MADLY in love with my Hammy Khaki! When I dip back below that 1k price point I want another hammy, that Bulova if I can get a great number on it as well but Hammy takes the cake under 1k
Thanks for the detailed review of the dive watches. Wanted your opinion on the Continental Watches. Especially the Continental 20504-GD101430. These are also Swiss made and seems value for money. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.
I don't dive but I like dive watches because they have a bolder appearance. In practical terms a dive watch usually has a dial and hand combination that is very legible, and the water resistance is comforting to me when I'm working in my yard, washing the car, things like that. Since I don't use a dive bezel I've started looking at aviator watches and even field watches. I have a Kano and I like its styling better than the Kamasu, I think either are excellent for the price. That Casio is very interesting too. In the Seiko line I've owned the iconic SKX models as well as the Sumo, Knight and Monster models. Today I like my Sea Urchin just fine. My other favorites are the Steinhart submariner homages, my Deep Blue with the flat tritium tubes, and several different Luminox models. In your list I like that Doxa 200 and also the Mido. There are lots of interesting things in your Blog- that NTH Odin is really my style. And I have to mention that your photography/video is amazing.
I recently bought the Certina Ph500 with black dial. I love the unique lockable spring loaded hexagonal bezel, the 80 hour power reserve and mine is well within COSC spec at -2 secs per day accuracy. I get a lot of comments as unlike Seiko or Rolex it is very uncommon.
Great list! A lot of good options are missing, but understandable. From Certina I like the Certina DS Action Diver, great size and cheaper than the option offered here. I guess the Super PH500M is the more professional option.
I have the Glycine combat sub with red bezel and it is is the best value for money. iv bought since invicta bought them and there is 0 changes. Swiss movement, sapphire crystal, 42mm, 10.6 mm thick. bracelet is form fitting. For $350 off most websites this is the best thin you can buy. Entry level luxury for one of the best quality watches out there.
If to choose a Seiko now, go for the King series with the upgrades movement and sapphire crystal for $100 more. I would have seen the Yema Navygraf in the list as well Teddy. Thanks.
Not a watch snob, how refreshing. A quartz Casio for $60 make the list, nice. I have a similar Casio, it is a good watch. Sometimes you want to wear a watch when you shouldn't.

Yes, exactly this
I am convinced Zelos anihilates any proposition when it comes to value.
On the fly adjust, build quality, materials everything is far superior to anything for less money. Of course, the movements used are a debatable weakness in certain models.
"Blasted...pardon me..." Aww, bless him! Such a nice guy. 😅
Those are great watches if you are really on a budget or just starting to collect watches. This is great video. Thank you!
What about the Certina DS action diver 38mm case
Man…that Tissot looks nice! Thanks Teddy…nice vid.
Great video. Teddy you are professional.
As a licensed PADI driver, I laugh when you say "only 100 meter" limit. Most divers will never get close to 100 meters. Just chuckle-worthy. 👍🏼
Light yagami
you maybe a licensed PADI driver buy you need to get more knowledge about water resistance ratings of watches. it's a very misleading, misinformed number.
Man, that Seastar is just gorgeous!
I am MADLY in love with my Hammy Khaki! When I dip back below that 1k price point I want another hammy, that Bulova if I can get a great number on it as well but Hammy takes the cake under 1k
I’ve recently purchased the sub200 Caribbean Doxa , for just under a thousand pound it’s a stunning watch
Your judge is Excellent
My option is almost same
There are Excellent watches!
Thanks for the detailed review of the dive watches. Wanted your opinion on the Continental Watches. Especially the Continental 20504-GD101430. These are also Swiss made and seems value for money. Look forward to hearing from you. Thanks.
I love your jacket! Would you mind sharing it’s details with us?
Thanks for another great video.
My favourite not really "under $1,000" dive watch is the new Seiko Willard.
Got mine for little over $800! 👍
As always, great presentation, Teddy! Would you consider a similar presentation for dress watches under $1,000?
I recently bought the Certina Ph500 with black dial. I love the unique lockable spring loaded hexagonal bezel, the 80 hour power reserve and mine is well within COSC spec at -2 secs per day accuracy. I get a lot of comments as unlike Seiko or Rolex it is very uncommon.
I've just bought the orange dial Certina Ph500m DS VDST Limited Edition, cant wait for it to be delivered.
I have the Seastar 1000 and I love it!
If to choose a Seiko now, go for the King series with the upgrades movement and sapphire crystal for $100 more. I would have seen the Yema Navygraf in the list as well Teddy. Thanks.
Good morning everyone! What a good start to my extra day off 😁
Not a watch snob, how refreshing. A quartz Casio for $60 make the list, nice. I have a similar Casio, it is a good watch. Sometimes you want to wear a watch when you shouldn't.
Hi Teddy, I would like to see a video of micro brands like Jacob&Co, De bethune etc because I would like to know if these brands are worth the money.
