    Your videos are educational and calming. I am still an amature fly tyer and I have come to love the focus fly tying has given me. Thank you for doing your videos. They are inspiring.

    Great tie. Love these and similar patterns for the late season olives. Everyone else I watch seems down right clumsy around the vise. Something to aspire to.
    My OCD shows itself.

    Nice. That first tie looks like a great mahogany pattern. Great dry to tie for beginners and they catch fish. Just a tip to add: buy a finish paint brush and you’ll have more bristles(tail tippets) than you could use in a lifetime.😁 stay hooked and cheers to ya Davie.

    Thanks Davie. Nice fly. I tie some similar with just hackle. They do very well on our New England trout. Stay well.

    Love those simple fly patterns. Not sure why I tend to tie more complicated dry flies. I also have a bunch like this for spring creeks and some tail waters. Really like the spikey dubbing under the hackle. This will be another Davie fly added to my box. Thanks Davie!!

    Great looking wee spinners mate. Those would work great as a dropper on a dry fly. Thanks for sharing another video my friend. Glad you are doing well and be safe. Best Regards, Ken

    Love these simple little flies! And I suspect they could be effective during a midge emergence in a pinch. I also really love the SLF squirrel dubbing-- some of my favorite. Thanks!

    Great fly. Used these today in both river and lake fishing. Hope to have a video of the river action up sometime in the next couple days. There is a video of the lake taken a couple weeks ago showing a massive mayfly hatch. Had something similar today but less intense, still a great time, and the fly worked a treat.

    Lovely spinner patterns thanks davie .
    I like the use of the neck cape .
    Genetic Saddles are great but for hobby tyers the cost can be expensive.
    I wanted to ask you davie how do you best treat a domestic cape for storing?
    Have had one or two non shop capes that i ended up having to throw out.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  3 роки тому +1

      Hi A troutflycrazy,
      I have had many a time feather mites and moths having a go at an odd cape but just give them a wash or what works well is stick it in the freezer for a week or two and this will sort them out..Just keep them dry and clean and you should have no problems..I'm glad you liked the fly..
      All the very best Davie..

    Very similar to the Clyde style spinners only a turn or two more hackle turns, but very effective.

    • @paulbryson3766
      @paulbryson3766 4 роки тому

      Looking at the Clyde style spinners, they have a clear plastic strip wound round the body.

    • @davidfraser4083

      Hi Paulthe original clyde style flies had a single layer of silk and a very sparse hackle. If you can see Robert c Sharp book ,Let's Fish the Clyde, he tied very sparse flies. Hope this helps. Big Davie.

    Do you fish these as dry flies only, or also as wet flies? Excellent video.

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  4 роки тому

      Hi Frank,
      Mostly as a dry fly but there's nothing wrong to fish them like a wet fly as I'll pull it below the surface if I fee thatl the fish is taking them just below the surface..I'm glad you enjoyed the video..

    Hi Davie do you use any sort if magnification to tie these types of small flies

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Paul,
      I use a small pair of reading glasses and they are 1.75+ as I don't need normal glasses so I have been lucky with the eyesight so far..Good light also helps as I use a 20 watt day-light bulb...

      Hi David,
      What I do is work it between my fingers until it gets tacky and then it will stick to the side of your finger ready to be used when needed..If it is too hard then warm it up first before you do this..Let me know how you get on..
      All the very best Davie..

      Hi Enrique Bartlett,
      I use a Sony Ax100e camcorder which has a ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* lens fine-tuned for 4K video, I add on a 2+ filter which gives me a closeup shot of the fly though you have to get the camcorder within a couple of foot or less for it to focus..I'm glad you enjoyed the videos...
