Pair the Enemy Skill materia with an HP absorb works wonders, too. Use plasma discharge. Every time you fill up an ATB bar, it will do an AOE that will health the character using it.
A good idea to top people off with the emeny skill materia, use soothing breeze just before the last enemy dies then kill the enemy. Soothing breeze keeps healing after combat and is a cheap way to get an extra 1000-2000 health restored for free. - Just make sure the character with enemy skill isn't too far away from Cloud, or the one you control after combat, as this will cancel the ability as they will move towards you.
Set a party member you never use a combat, only as a healing slave outside of combat. Give HP MP swap, restorative and healing materia, and any other Hp up materia (to make mp 9999 due to hp mp swap)
Can’t use cushions in hard mode. No items. That’s the reasoning for this method. Though I will say, I’ve never seen the option to heal with back line commands, that’s news to me. I’ll have to try that out if I’m ever in that situation.

I’ve only done a few chapters on hard but so far mp absorb and chocobo stops are all I’ve needed to get by. I can see some dungeons being good for it on the third character who isn’t using mp absorb though
You can use cushions at rest stops. In fact hard mode is the only reason they even exist. Always wondered why they existed when playing game the first time.
Great tips! MP HP swap materia on an inactive party member is great too for out of combat healing. Also love how you casually scroll over to show no materia on Cait haha. I pretty much only used him when required or just slapped on some materia that I wanted to level up passively with the chocobo band.
Chocobo benches restore MP on hard mode with the cushion. You just need to go outside, restore your MP, and keep going. In Remake if you used too much MP early on in a Chapter and did not know how to do the fighting without MP, you had to restart the chapter over again. Hard Mode on Rebirth is much easier than Remake especially when you add Cloud's massive combat upgrade he got and Yuffie who can hit every elemental weakness plus has a shadow clone. The worst Hard Mode part in my opinion are the Cait Sith only sections near the end of the game and that's only because I suck at fighting with him.
I prefer to make one person a dedicated healer using the hp mp swap Materia to give them thousands of MP and never put them in combat. Certain chapters this will change due to some characters being required in battle but primarily I use it on Yuffie once you get her she isn't required for any battle until the final boss gauntlet (and I really don't vibe with her kit as triangle, triangle, square, sqaure, square it still legit broken and all she needs)

Just like with the Box Minigame in Remake, Braver is GOATed during it. For the small boxes, just hold square in Operator Stance and the AOE will take them all out. All the large boxes will be taken out in 1 Braver and you can easily hit a group of 3 big boxes if they're all next to each other. Other than that, it just learning the map and route.

So much of this game is too hard, too drawn out, and too pointless.
I mean the unique skills are pretty much the bread and butter of the game, if you’re relying on magic that much then you probably aren’t comfortable using the characters actual abilities. Magic is meant for the specific purpose of exploiting weaknesses for staggers offering support or finishing off a fight. It’s quite possible to plan out a stagger phase if you pay attention to what’s happening in the fight. Assess is also a pretty powerful material, straight up tells you how to stagger most enemies, bosses included.
You don’t use this on bosses, should be apparent. Use this on normal enemies as you progress through the level to keep your mp up(hard mode). Swap to a bossing accessory when needed.

This is false you can also recover MP by using a chocobo bench
During boss fights right?
is there anyone here who just casually staggers a boss on demand to get an hp/mp bump? no one? hmmm, gonna have to stay away from this one unless you have a one-shot kill build on you because you seem to be pretty much FUCKED if you have no mp, have no atb, can't attack to fill atb to get off a prayer even with that maxed out atb boost. So much of this game is too hard, too drawn out, and too pointless.
That’s why I always have the first strike materia and other abilities that refills atb like disorder or boost
Who doesn't stagger enemies? The main goal of combat is to stagger
You don’t use this on bosses, should be apparent. Use this on normal enemies as you progress through the level to keep your mp up(hard mode). Swap to a bossing accessory when needed.
This game doesn't have a hard mode. Dynamic mode just level syncs you to everything.
it does have a hard mode after you beat the game.
How many IQ points leak out your ear when you tilt your head to the point where you just state such an ignorant thing without doing 2 seconds of research or stopping to think, “hmmmm I wUnDeR iF iTs LiKe FF7 rEmAkE WhErE duH hArD moDe iS uNloCkEd AfTeR yOo beEt duH gaYme.” Hurrr durrr It’s clear you haven’t beat either game which begs the questions why are you even watching this?
I hate that they dont allow you tonise item in hard mode ots so damn lazy...why not just up the dofocukty by making the items expensive as hell...so lame like explainnto me why you wouldnt chug a potion or either ifnylir low on mana or HP...? It makes no damn sende and jist makes hard mode a damn slog...i only just now finally beat hard mode in remake...now ive fonished rebirth ive gotta grind by the time i finish part 3 will be out 😤
