    By the way, nice steal of footage from the Dutch Bushcraft guys, among others. You should give them credit for putting together such a great video for you.

    The first thing you do with the Benchmade Bushcraft knife is throw the sheath away and buy one that actually holds the knife well. It’s a FANTASTIC knife, but Benchmade can’t make a sheath to save their lives.

      Agree, love the knife. As far as the holster, first thing I did was get a nice custom leather sheath from Patriot leather and also a kydex sheath.

    Bought a buck 104 5160 and love it but I'm not understanding all these bushcraft video's where you are batoning fire wood, wouldn't a hatchet or axe be a better choice for firewood, I guess if all you have is a knife, bit in this modern-day world where everything is available at the ready, why would you use a knife to do axe work..???

    I have an Esse PR4 that I got on Amazon and so far it's been pretty dependable. Holds a good edge. Feather sticks and splits wood very well. A lot of people talking smack about 1095 steel, but I haven't had any issues.

    There is NO firggin way in Hell, NEVER, like EVER, that I would spend $350 plus for rinky dink knife like the first one featured. I just got a No.37 Jeo Tec handmade bushcraft knife for half the price of a benchmade bushcrafter and it has a beefier blade, made with a better steel, way better sheath, and comes with a sharpening stone, and ferro rod, and this knife was made and sent from Spain, halfway around the world, so why are some of these knives so ridiculously way overpriced?!? Beckers are still decently priced depending where you get them but $350 plus Dollars for a knife that's not even longer than 4-inches. Does it do magic tricks or something, I just want to know why???

    I have the Benchmade knife... I used a flint stick a few times and the edge was badly damaged - I had to use a metal file to reshape it. The blade had some damage just from batoning yew wood. It is ether all reviews are paid by the manufacturer or I've got a faulty knife. It supposed to be a great steel but probably it is badly heat treated and not manufactured properly. £180 down the drain...

    • @joelhunter984
      @joelhunter984 2 роки тому +2

      Why would you use the edge and not the spine of the blade. Never use the cutting edge

    • @slchang01
      @slchang01 2 роки тому

      If I were you, I'd not use that expensive knife for batoning logs, nor for striking the ferro rod. In other words, I'd not even buy them for bushcraft/survival uses. An inexpensive one will do in those situations, and if you lose /damage it, just buy another one...No sweat.

    • @gregblake2764
      @gregblake2764 2 роки тому +2

      I also have the Benchmade Bushcrafter. Using the spine to strike a ferro rod works great. No reason to damage the cutting edge. I've batoned several different American hardwoods and never damaged the blade. All it takes is a little common sense to not push your knife beyond its limits.
