  • Well now I understand why people write scripts for their videos. In this video I just went off bullet points and felt like I was just rambling everywhere... well maybe next time I'll actually write something. I probably spent too much time making the graphics for this, but hopefully you guys find this video useful! Oh and sorry about the audio... didn't really think about the fact filming in a bigger room would make my voice all echoey.

Great video! Thanks for sharing! I'm in my first year of medicine and I just wanted to know what core/non-core papers are available for second year med. Also, which do you think is the most difficult for second year and why?

The medicine programme structure is quite different where we don’t really have 4 papers per semester. We mainly have different topics that are spread out over the whole year or are done one after another. For instance, we cover 5 systems of the body in second year which are musculoskeletal, digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular and genitourinary. We spent around 6 weeks on musculoskeletal, had a test and then started digestive. The same process occurs for the rest of those modules. On top of the science-orientated modules, we also have modules that focus on our professional and clinical skills, where its content is scattered throughout the year. Based off my own experience so far, I think I found the respiratory module the hardest. I think that’s because it’s very physiology heavy where you can’t necessarily see what’s going on. This makes some of the questions they ask us difficult to answer. (Also being sick didn’t help me during our study leave!) Everyone would find different modules harder than others though and I think they all have their pros and cons!

In the undergraduate programme, can I know which course you took in general education? Is critical thinking a good course to select

How many people get accepted into biomed and health sci? Also how many from this get through to med?

If you meet entry requirements on the website you’re guaranteed a place. If you don’t meet them then it’s subject to how many available places are left.

getting into healthsci/biomed is relatively easy. However the competition to get into med school is ferocious. Of the 2000 students that apply only around 7-10 percent actually get in.

Nope! If you want to do Medicine at UoO, they only consider your grades and UCAT score. Although from my understanding, there is an interview process for Dentistry.

I'm really sorry, but I can't do anything about the audio. :( Didn't think about recording in a fairly empty room would make my voice very echoey!
